It resumes with The Maivelance Crew continuing their search. Himitsu walks through the city, seeking clues.
Himitsu: (observing his surroundings) Most people here don't seem happy. Whatever this black surge is, we must stop it.
As he continues on his path, Himitsu notices two male Gliffs banging on a door.
Guy 1: Hey! You better come out right now!
Guy 2: Do you really think you can get away with this without facing consequences!?
Himitsu: What is happening over there?
Himitsu approaches them cautiously.
Guy 1: Just do us a favor and come out! You don't want us to break down this door, do you!?
Himitsu: What's the matter, guys?
Both men halt their banging and turn to face Himitsu.
Guy 2: What the?
Guy 1: Who are you?
Himitsu: I would tell you my name, but that's not relevant. Why are you banging on someone's door?
Guy 1: (laughing) And you think we're going to share that with you? Why don't you get lost and do something better with your life?
Guy 2: Yeah, that's right!
Himitsu: Actually, I am doing something better with my life. I'm here to stop people like you.
The man's laughter ceases as he becomes serious, retrieving an axe from behind his back.
Guy 1: So you think you're tough, huh? I suggest you get the hell out of here before you ask for a death wish.
Himitsu: No, I'm not leaving until you stop harassing someone.
Guy 1: Heh, I guess I'll start by getting rid of you first.
The man with the axe advances toward Himitsu, who quickly draws his blood sword and swings it, striking the man in the chest as he collapses to his knees.
Guy 1: Aghhhh!
As this occurs, the man's blood begins to absorb into Himitsu's sword, causing it to glow red and gain power.
Himitsu: I'm warning you. Leave now, or things will get worse.
The other man helps his friend up from the ground, visibly shaken.
Guy 2: We need to get out of here!
Guy 1: Tch, don't think this is over!
Both of them flee.
Himitsu: (sighing) Well, that could have been worse.
Himitsu glances at his sword and notices some changes.
Himitsu: This weapon is amazing. I can finally stand my ground.
He sheathes his sword on his back and approaches the house, knocking on the door.
Himitsu: Hello? You can come out now.
A few moments later, the front door opens, revealing an attractive female Gilff.
Himitsu: (To himself) Oh my! She's gorgeous!
Girl: Are they finally gone?
Himitsu: Y-yes, they're gone now. I took care of them for you.
Girl: (Taking Himitsu's hands) Thank you so much! I was waiting here forever for them to leave.
Himitsu: (Blushing) Y-your welcome! I saw them breaking into your house, so I had to intervene.
Girl: Well, it's a good thing you stopped by. People don't help out much these days.
Himitsu: Really? Why is that?
Girl: (Examining Himitsu closely) You're not from around here, are you?
Himitsu: N-no, I'm merely a traveler.
Girl: (Looking around) Hey, why don't you come inside? We can talk more without anyone around.
Himitsu: Oh, that would be great!
The girl leads Himitsu inside and closes the door. They walk into the small living room.
Himitsu: You have a cozy home here.
Girl: Yeah, we're not really the wealthy type.
Himitsu notices a chair and sits down.
Girl: Would you like a drink?
Himitsu: Umm, sure, I'll just have some water.
Girl: Okay! I'll be right back!
The girl rushes to the kitchen to fetch some water. A few moments later, she returns with a glass and hands it to him.
Girl: Here you go!
As he takes the glass, Himitsu notices the water is muddy.
Himitsu: (Concerned) Uhhhh, is it supposed to look like that?
Girl: Yes. Is there something wrong with it?
Himitsu: It just doesn't look clean, that's all.
Girl: Oh, don't worry; it's supposed to look that way. I promise you won't get sick.
Himitsu: Alright then.
Himitsu takes a sip of the water to assess the taste.
Girl: How is it?
Himitsu: It tastes a bit funny, but it's not bad.
Girl: Well, I'm pleased you like it.
The girl takes a seat across from Himitsu.
Girl: My name is Kana. What's yours?
Himitsu: It's Himitsu.
Kana: Nice to meet you, Himitsu. That's a unique name.
Himitsu: (Blushing) You think so?
Kana: Yeah! I've never heard that name before.
Himitsu: Well, thank you.
Kana takes a sip of her water.
Kana: Judging by how you look, you're human, aren't you?
Himitsu: That's right.
Kana: You said you were a traveler. Where are you from?
Himitsu: I came from Muddia City.
Kana: No, no, I mean where did you originate? This planet comes from Gliff's. So I'm asking, since you're human, where did you come from?
Himitsu: (Sweating) U-uhh, well, I don't know. I never saw my home planet because I was separated from my parents when I was a baby. Somehow, I ended up on this planet.
Kana: (Thinking) Hmmm, I'm sorry to hear that. That must have been hard for you.
Himitsu: It's okay. At least I'm still alive.
Kana: (Laughing) Well, you're not lying.
Himitsu: Yeah. By the way, what did those guys want from you?
Kana: Oh, them? Well, let's just say I—
Kana is interrupted as her father enters with a stern expression.
Kana's Father: Kana! What do you think you are doing!?
Kana: O-oh, hello Father! I was just—
Kana's Father: You know you have to go hunting, and you're still here with no food on the table!?
Kana: (Nervously) Yes, I know, Fa—
Kana's Father: (Glaring at Himitsu) And who is this boy!?
Himitsu: (Nervous) H-hello, sir! My name is Him—
Kana's Father: Shut your mouth! Not only did you come home empty-handed, but you brought a disgusting human boy as well!? How low have you sunk!?
Kana: Father, please—
Kana's Father: Have you two had sex!? I swear, Kana, I will—
Kana: No, we haven't done anything! I just met him today!
Kana's Father: SHUT UP! What I need you to do is hurry up and get food for us! You know the Black Surge exists, and you're here goofing around with a dirty human boy.
Himitsu stands up from his seat.
Himitsu: Okay, that's not how to talk to your—
Kana's Father: I'm not talking to you! Kana, get back out there and get us some food! If you don't bring anything before the Black Surge, you'll have to find somewhere else to stay. So get out!
Kana: But—
Kana's Father: GET OUT!
Kana rises from her chair and looks at Himitsu.
Kana: Let's go.
Kana exits, followed by Himitsu. They leave the house as the father slams the door behind them.
Kana's Father: And I do not want to see that boy when you return!
Himitsu: What's up with your dad? Is he always like this?
Kana: Always has been, even when I was little.
Himitsu: That's awful! Is everyone like this in the city?
Kana: Yeah. There hasn't been peace since the Black Surge took over. Everyone's on edge.
Himitsu: Wow. Do you know where the Black Surge came from?
Kana: Nobody really knows. It just appeared one night and started killing people. It's been going on for years.
Himitsu: So that's why everyone stays indoors and locks up.
Kana: Yes, or else it will consume you. But I need to go hunting now. It was nice meeting you, Himitsu.
Kana begins to walk away, but Himitsu stops her.
Himitsu: Wait! Let me help you!
Kana: (Turning around) Pardon?
Himitsu: Let me help you hunt.
Kana: No, it's okay. I've been doing this for a while; I can handle it.
Himitsu steps closer, gazing into her eyes.
Himitsu: I'm not letting a pretty woman go out alone. I'm coming with you whether you like it or not.
Kana blushes slightly, smiling back at him.
Kana: Then I'll be happy if you come along.
The scene transitions to Ohma walking through the city.
Ohma: I still haven't found anything.
As he walks, he notices a vendor selling posters.
Ohma: Whoa, that looks cool!
The vendor hears Ohma and turns to him.
Vendor: Ah! You like what you see?
Ohma: Yeah, that's really cool! Did you draw these?
Vendor: Indeed, I did! With my own hands!
Ohma: You did a great job!
Vendor: Thank you! You seem like a cool guy. Here, let me introduce myself (clears his throat). My name is Bris! Bris the Third!
Ohma: Bris the Third?
Bris: Yes… In my family, I have two brothers, and we're all named Bris. They were born before me, so I go by Bris the Third!
Ohma: Oh! So… you're three years old?
Bris: What? No, I was born third.
Ohma: Okay… but why do you say "the Third" after your name?
Bris smacks his forehead.
Bris: Never mind, kid… My name is just Bris.
Ohma: (Smiles) It's a pleasure to meet you, Bris! I'm Ohma!
Bris: That's a great name! Your parents must have put a lot of thought into it.
Ohma: I don't know. My mom died in front of me, and my dad didn't talk much, so I'm not sure they really thought about it.
Bris maintains a blank expression.
Bris: Ohma… I'm deeply sorry to hear that.
Ohma: Huh? Oh, it's okay! When I find the person who killed my mom, I'm going to kill him and make sure he can't breathe or say another word.
Bris: (Concerned) I think I will close up shop for today. It was a pleasure meeting you, young one.
Ohma: Oh, okay! Have a good one!
As Bris begins to walk away, Ohma notices a poster concealed under a cloth.
Ohma: Hmm? Uh, Bris, what's that?
Bris: (Under his breath) Damn it!
He turns around and gestures towards the covered poster.
Bris: (Surprised) Oh, that one? It's special to me.
Ohma: Can I see it?
Bris: Umm, sure.
Bris approaches, lifts the poster, and reveals it to Ohma. It illustrates a warrior lion wielding swords, roaring into the sky while standing atop a multitude of people.
Ohma: Whoa! Who's that?
Bris: This, my friend, is the legendary Rottuma!
Ohma: Rottuma?
Bris: Yes, the fiercest warrior to ever walk the earth. He was strong, brave, skilled, large, hard-headed, unkillable, and the strongest demigod.
Ohma: A demigod! I thought those were a myth!
Bris: Lots of people don't believe in myths, but I do! I met him once.
Ohma: REALLY?
Bris: Yeah! He was so tall! It was like looking up at a tree, but it was him! Rottuma!
Ohma: Man! I gotta meet him now! Where does he live?
Bris exhales deeply.
Ohma: What? What's wrong?
Bris: You see, Ohma… Rottuma disappeared after his last fight.
Ohma: Disappeared? Where'd he go?
Bris: No one knows; after his fight, he just left.
Ohma: Man, he must have gotten beaten really badly then.
Bris: See, that's the thing; he didn't get beaten; he won.
Ohma: Huh? I don't get it.
Bris: Rottuma's last battle was against Sibris!
Ohma: What is a Sibris?
Bris: Sibris is a creature from the underworld that can take any form. When Rottuma fought it, Sibris transformed into a Snake Dragon larger than two planets.
Ohma: Wow! That's huge!
Bris: Yes! But after defeating Sibris, Rottuma fell into a depression and disappeared from the planet, and from everywhere.
Ohma: Do you think he's still alive?
Bris: There are times I wonder, but honestly, I think he isn't. I just don't know.
Ohma: Bris, you said you met him, right?
Bris: Yes! Come inside my house, and I'll make you some tea.
Ohma: Alright!
Bris takes him inside and prepares tea.
Ohma: How did you meet him?
Bris: (Laughs) You're eager, aren't you?
Ohma: I just want to know!
Bris: I was twelve years old, digging holes in my mother's garden to plant seeds. She instructed me to ensure the holes were large enough for a dozen seeds each and to water them thoroughly. I ran out of water, so I hurried to the pond to refill. As I collected the water, I felt a strong wind, and suddenly, the water began swirling into a tornado! I was terrified and couldn't move… Then an anomaly opened, and someone emerged, landing beside me… and there he was.
Ohma: ROTTUMA!
Bris: Yes, the legendary Rottuma! He stood right next to me, his fierce gaze fixed on his opponent, wielding two massive blades. When he looked down and saw me, I dropped my bucket. I thought he was going to harm me, but instead, he bent down, picked up my bucket, and handed it to me, saying, "Look into the stars and stay smart."
Ohma: Look into the stars and stay smart?
Bris: (Sighs) No, I made that up. He just handed me the bucket, pushed me away, and went back into the anomaly.
Ohma: Oh… well, that was still cool!
Bris: Yeah, it was. I'll never forget when he stood beside me. I watched him fight millions of people outside that anomaly.
Ohma: That's amazing! I wish I could have met him too!
Bris: I wish you could have met him too, but after his last fight, he disappeared and was never seen again. Some say he took his own life, while others believe he's hiding somewhere.
Ohma: Do you know where he came from?
Bris: I've read so many books about demigods and gods, but there's nothing on him. I'm sure he doesn't even have any family, or they died somehow.
Ohma: That's so sad.
Bris looks at Ohma.
Bris: You know what? Here, you can have this.
He hands Ohma the poster of Rottuma.
Ohma: W-what? Are you serious?
Bris: Yeah, man! Take it. You don't look like you're from around here, and you can share this story so others know who the great and unkillable Rottuma is! Let Rottuma's name never die!
Ohma: Let Rottuma's name never die!
Bris: Well, Ohma, it was nice meeting you and having some tea. But it's time for you to head home.
Ohma glanced at the time; it was 11:15 PM.
Ohma: Oh crap! I've got to go!
Bris: Yeah! Don't get caught up in the black surge!
Ohma: Don't worry, I will!
He rises and heads back to the tower.
Ohma: Rottuma… man, if only I could meet you. (Looks at the picture) I don't think you killed yourself. I believe you're still alive somewhere. I just don't know where yet, but I'll find you someday.
As Ohma reached the tower, everyone was gathered in the main lobby except for Himitsu.
Ohma: Hey, guys!
Zodiac: It's 11:30! Where have you been?
Ohma: Oh! You're not going to believe this! (pulls out the poster) I met this guy who was talking about someone named Rott—
Zodiac: Don't care. I'm going to bed.
Ohma: Oh… Goodnight.
Daru: Did you find any clues, or did you just go shopping?
Ohma: Well… no.
Daru: Ohma, we're on a mission, not a vacation, so start focusing and stop buying posters. (Looks at the poster) What is he even?
Ohma: Oh, he's a lion warrior!
Daru: A lion warrior?
Ohma: Yes!
Daru: (Sighs) Go get some rest, Ohma.
Ohma: Okay!
Daru begins to look around, noticing everyone.
Daru: Akira, Kono, Gram, Ohma, Zodiac—where is Himitsu?
It then cuts to Himitsu with Kana at the front door of her house.
Kana: Thanks again for coming!
Himitsu: Yeah, no problem! Anytime.
Kana: So, what's that sword you have?
Himitsu: Huh? My sword? Oh, it was passed down by someone I know.
Kana: Oh, cool! It looks different from other swords I've seen.
Himitsu removes the sword from his back.
Himitsu: Yeah, it's a cool sword; it can do a lo—
Himitsu checks his watch and sees it's 11:50 PM.
Himitsu: OH CRAP!! I'VE GOTTA GO! I'LL TALK TO YOU TOMORROW!
Kana: Oh, okay, get home safe! Damn, I didn't even notice the time. (Blushes) He's cute.
Kana's father opens the door.
Kana's Father: KANA, GET IN HERE!
Kana: (Startled) Yes, father…
Himitsu: (Running) CRAP, CRAP, CRAP!! I'VE GOTTA GET BACK FAST!
He glances at the time and notices it is 11:56.
Himitsu: Dammit, Himitsu! Get a grip! Just a little further.
Daru: Where's Himitsu?
Zodiac: I don't know, maybe the surge got him.
Daru: Hey! That's not funny.
Zodiac: A little bit.
Daru opens the main lobby door.
Girl 1: W-What are you doing? ARE YOU CRAZY?!
Guy 1: HEY, CLOSE THE DOOR, MAN!
Girl 2: It'll kill us! Close it!
Guy 3: WE'RE GOING TO DIE!
Daru looks into the distance and sees someone running.
Daru: Is that…
Himitsu sees Daru holding the door open for him.
Daru: Run, Himitsu!
Himitsu: AHHHHH!!!
The people in the lobby begin trying to close the door and push Daru out.
Daru: Ugh! Get off!
Girl 1: CLOSE THE DOOR!
Guy 2: CLOSE IT!!!
Gram: Hey, let go!
Ohma: Yeah, let go!
Gram and Ohma attempt to assist Daru by pushing people aside. Himitsu glances to his side and spots the Black Surge in the distance.
Himitsu: IT'S HERE ALREADY!
He looks at his watch; it reads 11:59.
Himitsu makes it within one meter of the door, with the Black Surge right behind him.
Daru: JUMP, HIMITSU!
Himitsu looks back and sees the Black Surge approaching. He leaps as Daru extends his hand, and Himitsu reaches out as well.
