Chapter 175 - Retracing The Past

The sky above Egypt was silent. No clouds, no birds, no movement. Just a vast curtain of night stretched over the ancient sands. Beneath that sky, the pyramid waited. It had waited for thousands of years. Tonight… it stirred.

A lone black vehicle moved through the desert toward the Great Pyramid. No license plate, no emblem, only five figures inside — one cloaked man, and four Reapers dressed in silence. The vehicle stopped far from the main gate. No announcements, no calls. The wind whispered through the sand.

The man stepped out. Mirshad. He said nothing as he approached the base of the pyramid. He didn't need to. The moment his foot touched the first stone, the torches on the walls ignited themselves — silver fire dancing against the ancient stone.

Behind him, the Reaper Commander activated comms. "Zone secured. No access until instructed." Satellites above picked up motion. Within minutes, the Egyptian military was alerted. The Minister of Defense dialed a private channel. "Who entered the pyramid? That area is sealed under global protection." The Reaper Commander responded calmly. "MRD is inside." There was silence, and then the Minister's voice softened. "Understood… we will not interfere. Let the king walk where even time has stopped."

The walls shimmered faintly as he walked. Not from light, but from recognition. Symbols shifted behind his back as if the stone itself adjusted to him. He walked past the main chambers, past the familiar murals, past the place where the cult once bowed. This time there was no cult, no torches, just energy. He followed it, and the pyramid opened for him.

The corridor split, revealing a spiral path downward. No maps showed this. He followed it and emerged in a vast, circular room untouched by man. In the center, a black monolith floated and hummed. As he stepped closer, something shifted in the air — a deep pressure, like the memory of thunder. Then a voice came, not in the room, not in the world, but inside him.

"You have returned… but you are blind." "You built this place. Then you became man. Then you forgot." His breath slowed. "Who are you?" he whispered. "You are the one who chose to forget… so you could become something greater than power. You chose to love. And in doing so… you became worthy again." From the shadows, a figure rose. Golden armor wrapped in black silk, floating inches above the stone floor, eyes like collapsed stars. It didn't bow, it didn't attack, it spoke. "You forged us to guard the universes. We waited. And now… you stir." Mirshad's voice cracked. "I saw flashes. Power. Wars. Light. But I don't remember any of it." The Guardian nodded. "Because you were never meant to… not yet. Your mind cannot carry the full truth, not while you walk as a man."

The monolith pulsed. Mirshad touched it. And the world inside him broke open. He saw himself — not wearing black, not masked, but burning with white light. A being above space, above death. Galaxies spun beneath his feet. Voices across dimensions prayed to him. And then — silence. He vanished in the vision, but his last words echoed.

"Let me forget. Let me become human. Let me learn love from the ground again." Mirshad stumbled back, gasping. "I need more. Show me everything." The Guardian remained still. "No. Even your heart would break under the truth. You must walk the path, not remember it." The ground shifted. A spiral staircase opened, even deeper. He looked down into it — darkness, pure, unlit, unknown. He turned to the Guardian. "What lies below?" "Only what waits to be remembered."

Outside, the Reapers stood at full guard. Military drones approached — and turned away. The world held its breath. Inside, Mirshad stood at the edge of the stairs. And he spoke only once. "I will not leave… until I know who I am." He stepped forward. Down. Into the belly of time. And the pyramid closed behind him. Some answers are not found in light. They wait… in the silence beneath gods.
