Chapter 6 - Regret

Blasphemy started moving toward the picture and stopped in front of it.

Blasphemy: Why did I talk to her, I wonder.

Miguel: This rule, my old friend—you don't have to play it.

Blasphemy just stared at the painting without saying a word.

Miguel (continuing): I know you want to be in control of abuse, to make sure nobody is abusive. That's why you took this position. But if history ever wrote about you, it would be as the worst who walked on earth. Why?

Blasphemy: What do you think of this painting, Miguel?

Miguel: Don't change—

Blasphemy (cutting him): I'm not. Just answer.

Miguel gave up and walked to stand next to Blasphemy, still mumbling. He bent his left arm under his right armpit, resting his face in his right hand as if trying to wonder about the painting. Blasphemy stood with both hands behind his back.

Blasphemy: What do you think?

Miguel (same position): Interesting.

The painting they were looking at showed a sheep eating a wolf, while a mirror behind them reflected the opposite—the wolf eating the sheep.

Blasphemy: Do you think the sheep knew he was a wolf, or did he think he was defending himself against one? Or maybe the sheep pretended to be a wolf, which made the wolf convince himself he was a sheep, and that he had to defend himself.

Miguel (sighing): I think the wolf needed to be the sheep, so he wouldn't feel bad about killing one. Sometimes you pretend you're the good guy against a hero, so you don't look like the villain.

At that moment, someone stormed through the door. Just from the way she walked and the dress she wore, you could tell she was rich. The moment she entered, she shouted:

You let Sarah out! This bitch who wants to destroy our community—she should be raped every day for what she has done!

She walked toward Blasphemy, but Miguel stood in front of her first, moving his hand back and forth to tell her to calm down.

Miguel: Whoa, whoa—what do you mean, raped? You're a woman, you should understand what that means more than anyone.

She pushed Miguel out of the way, but before she reached Blasphemy to yell at him, Blasphemy walked toward her slowly. She grew scared and started to move backward.

Are you defying me? Was my judgment wrong?

Blasphemy's minions appeared from thin air, crowding the room and shouting together:

Blasphemy!

Blasphemy continued walking toward her until she fell on her back. He circled around her. and said

Did I make a mistake?

Minions (shouting):Blasphemy!

The women Start stuttering and was about to cry

I didn't mea… mean to.

Blasphemy stopped at her feet.

I will be merciful toward her.

Minions shouted : Blasphemy!

Blasphemy leaned down and whispered:

You will be judged by your own tongue

Then he stood up and shouted:

Do to her her own judgment—for six months, day and night! No one disrespects me. No one disrespects us, because that will be—

Minions (roaring):Blasphemy!

They dragged her out the door. Miguel looked back and saw Blasphemy turning his head left and right before leaving with the group. The woman begged for her life, but no one listened.

They took her down the two stairs, then left which was a door at the end . At the door, she begged for forgiveness:

NoooPlease, no! I didn't mean to! I was just angry! Miguel,Miguel, don't let them rape me!

At that moment, a whisper touched her ear.

Whyis that?

Normally she would have pushed him away or jumped, but she was frozen—terrified by Blasphemy's voice. He stood before her.

Give one reason not to throw you in this door. Blasphemy asked

She didn't know what to say, her brain was trying to search for the perfect excuse to tell him, but she couldn't think of anything so she told him

I have children!

Blasphemy: Not convincing enough.

He ordered his minions to open the door. She screamed, but when she opened her eyes, she found herself outside on the street. Looking up, she saw the door still open, Blasphemy on the other side.

Then she hears

You messed up. Go—grab her, before she ran.

The moment she heard this, she ran as fast as she could. Blasphemy closed the door and walked down the hall, Miguel hurrying to catch up.

Miguel: This woman is terrorized for life.

Blasphemy: I have to keep my profile as the scariest.

Miguel: Sometimes I think you enjoy this too much.

Blasphemy: Well, like you said—sometimes you need to be a hero in your own story, while being the villain in everyone else's.

Miguel: I didn't say that.

Blasphemy (smirking): You said it. I just made it better.

Miguel: …That is blasphemy.
