While humanity had always tried its best to master the world, there were just things man could not defeat on his own.
One could create tools to kill any beasts, perhaps even blow apart mountains, or even take to the skies. But when it came to natural disasters, mankind was powerless. Wildfires, tsunamis, earthquakes, and hurricanes—these catastrophes were Mother Nature at her most brutal.
Even with all man's knowledge, the only thing he could do was try to survive the disasters. Walls that tried to keep the water out, buildings that rolled when shaken, buildings reinforced to withstand the winds. That was all man could do.
With the advent of mana, now even such forces of nature could be commanded by humans. And while there were a few that could, Elian was not one of them. For all his strength, he had no way of stopping the approaching danger.
