...
Kari took a little while to get used to this new sensation — the feeling of having a healthy body that didn't get tired over every little thing and that, from now on, would never get sick again. Even though her body was now normal and could get sick like any other human, she had Akira by her side with an alien that could literally cure any existing disease. So it didn't matter if she got sick or not — Akira would heal her instantly.
In fact, Kari was right. Ever since Akira obtained Vitalis, illness was no longer a problem in his family. A cold? Cured in seconds. The flu? Cured in seconds. Something serious? Cured in seconds. In short, there was nothing Akira couldn't heal. And for those wondering what happens if Akira himself gets sick — the answer is simple: yes, he can get sick, but the moment he transforms into Vitalis, the illness disappears.
Just like in the Ben 10 series, when Ben gets sick his aliens get sick too, but Vitalis was different. As a race incapable of getting sick and able to regenerate when injured, the moment Akira transforms into Vitalis, any disease is instantly eradicated. When he turns back into a human, he's completely cured.
{Note: If you remember well, when Ben gets sick in the original series his aliens do too, but since Vitalis belongs to a race that cannot fall ill, even if Akira is gravely ill, the moment he transforms into Vitalis the disease is wiped out, and when he returns to human form he is completely healed.}
Thanks to Vitalis, Akira's family would never have to worry about getting sick or even getting injured.
Moving on to more important topics, after a few minutes of trying to process the reality of the situation, Kari threw herself at Akira and hugged him tightly. They stayed like that for a while, simply enjoying each other's warmth. This time there was no lust, desire, or any indecent feeling — just pure love.
{Note: This scene is repeated, but you can't entirely blame me. I wrote the previous chapter several days ago, while I wrote this one while feeling a bit sick and thinking I remembered the previous chapter correctly. However, I don't think it's a very serious problem, so just ignore the ending of the previous chapter and we're good. Sorry again.}
After a few minutes, they ended up in the same position again — sitting on the sofa with Kari between his legs, resting her head on his chest. But unlike before, everything felt much more… natural? Maybe that wasn't the most accurate word, but it was definitely the one that came to mind when comparing both scenes.
"Akira," Kari said suddenly.
"Yeah?" I replied.
I had already put on a movie for them to enjoy together, this time without any interruptions. As for s***, the night would be long and Kari's parents wouldn't be back until tomorrow afternoon, so there was no danger. Sometimes you have to wait for the right moment for certain things to happen and not get carried away by… well, wild and senseless lust. Even though that was usually the kind of sex he always had, today was a special day. These dates were all special, and he didn't want to have the same s** the usually had. There would be plenty of time later to go back to that kind of intense sex. As the saying goes: "Give time to time." In the end, everything comes when it's supposed to.
"About the story from earlier… do you want me to continue?" Kari asked.
Now that I think about it, I had interrupted her while she was telling her story. Though in my defense, it was for a very good reason, and I think anyone who knew the situation would agree with me.
"Of course. If that's what you want, I'd love to hear it," I nodded.
"Okay. Like I said before, even though I'm cured now thanks to you, I used to be a sickly girl. Luckily, God gave me the gift of intelligence. From a very young age I already stood out among all my classmates and my grades were always the highest even without studying. Even now, I'm only in elementary school because I refused to skip to a higher grade," Kari said.
"They offered to let you skip grades?" I asked curiously.
"Yes. When I started standing out among my classmates, they gave me an intelligence test and the result showed I was gifted. A girl with intelligence far superior to normal humans, with one of the highest IQs in the world. Naturally, my level is way above my classmates. Luckily, I didn't get bullied for it and I even made very good friends," Kari explained.
"You might have had it a bit hard before because of your physical condition, but I don't think you'll have any problems now. Or are you hiding something from me?" I asked.
"No, I'm better than ever now. I couldn't be happier," Kari denied.
"I'm glad then," I said.
"Me too… the truth is, everything feels so unreal that sometimes I think I'm dreaming. I have a loving family, an understanding mother, amazing friends, and the boyfriend of my dreams. Sometimes I think I'm dreaming — that one of the illnesses I had in the past finally got me and now I'm in a coma, dreaming about the life I always wanted," Kari said.
It's… definitely something many people have thought about in their lives. In fact, when I reincarnated into this world, I also thought I was dreaming. That my last adventure had ended in disaster but I was luckily found and taken to a hospital where I was in a coma, recovering from my injuries, and that all of this was a dream caused by my strong desire to have a big family and endless adventures. Luckily, everything is real.
"Everything is definitely real, so don't worry," I said while gently stroking her head.
Kari leaned comfortably against my chest and smiled.
"I know… but there's more," she said.
"Then tell me. Don't hold back," I replied.
"The truth is, with my intelligence, everyone expects me to do great things — something like becoming a scientist, a doctor, or something like that. But none of them know that's not my dream. All those jobs seem wonderful, but that's not what I want to be," Kari said.
I simply looked at her without saying anything. As my future wife, she would undoubtedly have to come with me to space in the future, and our place of residence would become uncertain. I still wasn't sure if staying on Earth would be a good idea. After all, as a planet that still doesn't belong to Gid's empire — and mine in the future — I don't know if I should make Earth my permanent home. Honestly, living on Earth or not doesn't really matter to me. I have no problem moving to another planet. I only hesitate because of my future wives. I know that for Lala and the others — girls who have already lived on different planets — it doesn't matter if we live on Earth or not as long as they're with me. But the others — girls who have never even lived outside this city… living on another planet wouldn't be easy for them. Of course I'm not saying we'd never visit Earth again, just that it wouldn't be our permanent residence, the same way Deviluke is the permanent home for Lala's family.
That was the only reason I hesitated. Otherwise, I would simply go with the flow. Anyway, there's no point thinking about it too much right now, especially at this moment, because there's still a long time before that happens.
"So what do you want to be then?" I asked curiously.
"I know that in the future I'll have no choice but to go with you into space and I don't know when I'll come back, so I want to start my dream as soon as possible so that when I leave, I've already left a legacy," Kari said.
"Ahem, it's not like we're never coming back to Earth. We'll just spend a lot of time away," I said.
For now, that's what I have in mind, but like I already said, there's still a long time before that happens.
"Then even better, but I still want to start now," Kari said.
Then she looked at me directly and said…
"I want to be a mangaka," Kari said.
For a moment I looked at her with a surprised expression because I never thought that someone as intelligent as Kari would set aside such important jobs like being a scientist or a doctor to become a mangaka. It's not that being a mangaka is bad — in fact, all jobs serve a purpose and honestly I don't care what the girls do because I'll support them unconditionally. The problem in this case is Kari's parents. Will they let their gifted daughter become a mangaka? That's a very interesting question.
"Oh… I knew you wouldn't like the idea much, that's why I didn't mention it before… maybe I should listen to those people and dedicate myself to something more… important," Kari sighed.
Kari misinterpreted Akira's expression, thinking he didn't agree with it.
"Silly girl, just do whatever you want to do. Do you want to be a mangaka? Then I support you," I said while stroking her head.
Kari closed her eyes with satisfaction.
"Thank you," she said.
It seemed she had misinterpreted Akira's expression.
"But I have a question for you," I said.
"What is it?" she asked.
"Since you want to be a mangaka… that means you must at least have an idea for a story. Am I wrong?" I said.
After all, she should at least have an idea for a story.
"Yes, actually… wait here a moment. I'll show you the results of my work," Kari nodded.
"Okay," I nodded.
Then Kari got up from my lap and went to her room to get something. When she returned, she brought a stack of papers and carefully placed them on the coffee table in front of the sofa.
"This is what I've done so far. I haven't shown it to anyone because I didn't have the courage to tell anyone I wanted to be a mangaka. But… now that you know, I want your opinion. It would mean a lot to me," Kari said.
I nodded and picked up the stack of papers from the table, eager to see what kind of idea Kari had come up with. But the moment I read the title of the manga, my eyes widened in shock, unable to believe what I was seeing. The title was… Digimon Adventure.
