*Note: Sorry I didn't upload a chapter yesterday, but I came home from work so tired that I didn't feel like translating. However, I'm feeling a bit better today, so here's today's chapter and have a good day :)
...
"You're welcome!" – said Momioka.
But before I could say another word, Momioka spoke again.
"Well, now that we know each other better it means that we are already friends. Right?" – Momioka said with a smile.
"That's right, we're friends!" - Mio nodded.
Momioka's original goal was to befriend Akira alongside Mio and Haruna, although her main reason for being friends with Akira was basically to help Haruna. Haruna had been in love with Rito for a couple of years now, but neither of them had managed to take a step since then. Momioka knew that Rito liked Haruna, it was more than evident mainly by the reaction he had every time he met Haruna, but as a friend of Haruna and a person who only wanted the best for her friend, she didn't think Rito was worthy of Haruna. Haruna was almost an angel, good and kind and almost everything she did she did perfectly, while Rito was mediocre in every way and a pervert who sometimes fell in front of girls so he could look under their skirts. For all that, Momioka didn't think Rito was worthy of her best friend, in fact, if she had to choose, Akira was a better option, and now that he wanted to change, it's even a better option than she initially thought, however, getting Haruna to change her mind about Rito isn't going to be easy, but she'd still try. It's not that she wanted Akira and Haruna to date, but at least she wanted Haruna to realize that Rito wasn't worthy of her and she needs to date with another boy, whether that boy is Akira or not depends entirely on fate, but Momioka didn't think Haruna would have a good life being with someone like Rito. And it's not that she hated him or anything, in fact, she herself knew that one of the few qualities Rito had was that he was a good person, but being only a good person you don't get anywhere.
{Note: yes, a lot of text, sorry for that}
"Friends?" – I asked surprised.
The most difficult thing apart from getting closer to Yui, was to get closer to Haruna, after all, this girl is in love with Rito right now and make her change her mind... It wasn't going to be easy at all, but to begin with, I would first have to find a way to get close to her and become her friend, which was difficult since she was always with Momioka and Mio. At first I had planned to approach her at school, but after thinking it for a while, I realized that the plan I thought yesterday was silly because Haruna is not a girl who is easy to access and try to be her friend when she is with Risa and Mio all day... It's basically impossible or so I thought, but apparently they approached me themselves; it looks like the goddess of fortune is on my side!
"That's right, let's be friends!" – Momika nodded.
"Haruna also wants to be your friend. Right?" – Mio said.
Haruna looked at Akira shyly not knowing what to say, but as a good person that she was, if she kept quiet, Akira could interpret that she didn't want to be her friend and that was not the case, it's just that all the men (except Rito) she's met so far just wanted to befriend her for her beauty, or at least that's what Risa and Mio told her when they rejected all those men.
Because of that and the lack of male contact, Haruna was shy about any kind of contact with men, and if you don't believe these words, you just have to see what her current relationship with Rito is like, which she likedhim, but didn't have the courage to approach him.
"Yes..." - Haruna nodded.
"Well... if someone as beautiful as Sairenji-san is willing to be my friend: Who am I to reject her? Let's be friends!" – I nodded.
"Then we are all friends!" – said Momioka.
Interestingly, just by hearing Haruna's words, Akira accepted without thinking. Is it possible that Akira likes Haruna?
"Hey, I never agreed to be friends with everyone!" – Yui exclaimed.
Why did everyone ignore her and not even ask her opinion?
"Is that a no?" – I asked curiously.
Seeing Akira's slightly embarrassed look (according to her), Yui sighed inwardly and had no choice but to accept.
"Okay... I'll be your friend, but in return I want you to promise me that you will never be like you were before, otherwise, I will stop being your friend immediately!" – Yui said.
Yui didn't have a single friend at school because the position she held in the school wasn't too popular and most of the students were resentful with her because of how strict she was, so when Momioka proposed to be friends she got excited, but due to her pride, she did not show any expression and instead put that condition on Akira.
"Okay, okay, I promise" – I said.
This girl is clearly happy to have new friends. Why can't she be more honest with her feelings?
After that, we talked a little, although not too much as classes were about to start.
However, before talking about what happened after Akira's conversation with Momioka and the others, it's worth mentioning that someone had been listening to them the entire time, that person was Rito. He had heard the whole conversation from beginning to end and felt jealous of Akira. Why had Momioka approached Akira on her own and suggested being friends? She had never done that with him. Maybe he needed to be more proactive… maybe Momioka saw something in Akira that she hadn't seen in him. But then: why had Haruna also agreed to be friends with Akira if they had never even spoken before? He understood that being friends was just that, being friends, but he still couldn't help feeling insecure. Deep down, he knew it was his fault. If only he had been a little more bold and said he wanted to be their friend too, maybe now he'd have more chances to see Haruna, or even be alone with her. Why had he been born such a coward?
Anyway, after this little reflection, the teacher arrived in the classroom.
"Good morning, guys, today, before starting class I will introduce you to the new classmate that you will have from today!" – said the teacher.
Upon hearing their old teacher, all the students began to murmur. A new student? It was true that the school year had only just begun, but it was still unusual for someone to transfer just a few weeks after it started. More than that, however, they were all wondering the same thing: would the new student be a boy or a girl? The girls (excluding Yui, Haruna, Momioka, and Mio) were hoping it would be a handsome boy, while the boys (excluding Rito and Akira) were praying it would be a beautiful girl. Rito didn't care either way, and Akira already knew who the exchange student was going to be, so he wasn't interested either. But the rest of the class was full of curiosity, eager to see who would walk through that door.
"Silence!" – said the professor.
The murmurs had become too loud and no one was listening to him, which annoyed the old teacher.
Hearing the teacher, everyone immediately fell silent.
"Ehem, as I was saying, please be kind to her" – said the teacher.
Then, he turned to the door and spoke.
"You can enter" said the professor.
The moment he said that, the door opened and one person in particular passed through it. Such a person was a woman, but not just any woman, she was an exceptionally beautiful woman. Pink hair, long to the waist, quite large tits and a figure that made all the men in the classroom (and even some girls, except those already mentioned), drool when they saw her. They also saw the tail sticking out of her back, but they simply attributed it to her liking cosplay. It was very common at that time.
"Introduce yourself, please" – said the professor.
"Good morning everyone, my name is Lala Satalin Deviluke, an exchange student and Akira's fiancée and from now on I will study with you, please treat me well!" – Lala introduced herself.
Hearing her words, everyone in the class was astonished. Did she just say she was Akira's fiancée? Was this beautiful girl the fiancée of that lazy Akira who almost seemed to be the secondary character of a video game? What was going on here? Had the world gone mad?
On the other hand, Yui was shocked and also angry. Was that new girl Akira's fiancée? She didn't know why, but that made her very angry and she was already planning how to scold Akira later, although for the moment she could only settle for constantly throwing murderous looks at him.
While Haruna, Risa and Mio were also surprised because Akira had a fiancée as beautiful as Lala. Although perhaps he would have told them if they had been friends for longer. Too bad Momioka's plans regarding Akira and Haruna couldn't be carried out now that she knew Akira had a fiancée. Yes, that's what a normal person would think, but Momioka wasn't a normal person and she believed that as long as they were engaged and not officially married, there was still hope. Although as mentioned above, whether Akira and Haruna ended up together would be decided by fate, although Lala's appearance had complicated things a lot. But you never know what the future may hold.
As soon as Lala introduced herself as my fiancée, dozens of murderous gazes focused on me. Seriously: What is my fault that you don't have a girlfriend? Go out into the street and find one. Why do I have to be the target of so much envy? In short, envy is an inherent feeling of the human being and there was nothing I could do about it. The only look I was worried about was Yui's, who kept throwing murderous looks at me all the time. Haa... now that things with Yui were starting to going well, I've taken steps back again. Although all is not lost and, with effort and a little luck, I will make Yui my wife and even if it's true that will be very difficult for human women to accept a harem, I'll find a way.
