While the lab might not rival a library in terms of sheer volume, the depth of its Pokémon-related knowledge was unparalleled, capable of turning even a complete novice into a scholar.
Before his transmigration, Ryuuske hadn't played the latest generations of Pokémon games, but during his time at the lab, he had absorbed all the knowledge he needed. Thus, he immediately recognized the origins of this Pokémon—

"I dug it up in Mt. Moon," Ryuuske replied with certainty.
"This is Amaura, a Pokémon native to the Kalos region. There have been cases of its frozen living fossils being discovered there. According to existing research, this is a Pokémon with a calm and gentle temperament, one that lived in frigid lands to evade the pursuit and predation of brutal hunters."
"...You must understand, in the hyper-ancient era, resources were abundant, but the environment was far harsher, and the food chain was exceptionally complex. Even Legendary Pokémon like Groudon and Kyogre roamed freely across land and sea, which should give you an idea of just how brutal survival conditions were back then."
For a scientist like Blaine, discovering something fascinating always triggered an intense excitement, a relentless urge to uncover the truth.
"All ancient Pokémon went extinct, and now we can only see them through fossils. As for the cause of their extinction, human researchers have proposed various theories. Some claim these ancient Pokémon were wiped out by extraterrestrial meteors—a theory supported by ancient imagery found in the Sinnoh region and discovered meteor craters. Legend has it that in ancient times, two meteors fell from the sky. The Creator Deity destroyed one, but was too late to stop the other. Ryuuske crossed his arms. He wasn't particularly interested in what happened in ancient times—what mattered to him now was whether this could bolster his combat strength.
"Correct. According to existing cases, it is indeed an Ice/Rock-type, making it one of the most unique typings in the world. However, it doesn't align with your abilities, Ryuuske."
Blaine tapped away at the computer, pulling up some data before sighing.
"...This is a question many researchers have been trying to answer: Why can Pokémon possess only two types at most? Why can their bodies only withstand two different energies at once? Based on studies of living fossils in the Kalos region, Amaura in ancient times should have been a Dragon/Ice-type. But the Amaura we see now is merely a product of fossil resurrection, not the original form."

Blaine shook his head.
"...Still, Ryuuske, you really do know a lot. Have you ever considered becoming a true Pokémon researcher?"
"I just memorized what I read at Professor Oak's lab. I don't understand the finer details. Besides, right now, I'm only interested in being a Trainer. Maybe another time."
Ryuuske hastily declined. Being a Pokémon researcher was no simple task—the subjects of study were far too intricate and meticulous. Take Blaine's expertise in genetic research, for example. His level of understanding surpassed that of Ryuuske's pre-transmigration world by an immeasurable margin. The sheer breadth of knowledge involved wasn't something Ryuuske could tackle yet.
"Haha, to each their own. Who knows? Maybe one day you'll develop an interest in research!"
"If anything, I'd prefer studying history and mythology. I'm more interested in Legendary Pokémon."
Ryuuske walked over to Blaine's side, watching as he inputted data into the computer.
"History and mythology? Hmm, there's a rather famous young girl in Sinnoh who's also interested in that. Are all you youngsters into ancient stuff these days?"
Blaine chuckled.
"...Reviving an ancient fossil isn't something that can be done in an instant. This machine needs to run continuously for two days. Fortunately, it should finish just before Mewtwo's genetic adjustments are complete."
"Ryuuske, you should go rest. Leave this to me. The discovery of Amaura's fossil in Mt. Moon is a major find. I have a geologist friend—the one who helped me build this lab—and this discovery could prove that the world was once a single landmass in ancient times before splitting into the regions we know today due to unknown reasons. And how does this connect to the legend of the Moon Stone said to have fallen from space in Mt. Moon...?"
A researcher deep in the throes of study was impossible to interrupt. Watching as Blaine immersed himself in his work, and seeing Mewtwo sitting calmly in the nearby gene culture fluid, Ryuuske decided it was best to go find Green.
