Chapter 166 - Chapter 166: Melusine, You Were Raised by Me!

After disposing of the corpses, Morgan turned to Lot and asked, "What should we do next?"

"What else? Of course, we should get some proper sleep!"

After a moment of thought, Lot gave his answer.

"Hmm?"

Morgan was slightly surprised by Lot's response.

At that moment, Lot wrapped an arm around her waist and said with a grin, "Think about it the village chief sneaked out on his own and got himself killed. What does that have to do with us?"

"Let's rest well tonight and set off tomorrow morning instead."

"Mhm."

Morgan agreed with Lot's reasoning.

And so,

This unscrupulous couple headed off to the newly built house to rest without a shred of guilt.

Any sense of remorse for the killings?

Nonexistent.

...

Meanwhile, Kaa fled into the wilderness. As time passed, the cold wind blew against him, and he began to feel uneasy.

Huh!?

Wait a minute!?

If I left so blatantly, wouldn't the village chief have noticed by now?

That village chief is a fairy from the Wind Clan.

If she sees me like this, she'll definitely come after me, right?

What if she tries to stop me?

I can't beat her, can I?

But even so, I won't give up.

I have to warn my clan leader.

I must go.

No matter what, I can't stop.

Kaa stretched his short legs and hurried onward.

Afraid of being caught,

He didn't rest the entire night.

By the next morning, Kaa was still alone.

Seeing this, he was stunned.

Wait,

This doesn't make sense!

Why didn't the village chief come after me? Was she really so incompetent that she didn't notice?

Kaa wondered to himself.

Still, this was a good thing. If no one knew, all the better he had to find the clan leader as soon as possible.

What Kaa didn't know was that he should have been captured by the village chief last night.

However,

She had already been killed by Lot and Morgan.

...

Elsewhere, after a good night's sleep, Lot and Morgan woke up and prepared to leave.

In another part of the room,

Leah was still tied up and gagged.

Her eyes widened as she watched Lot and Morgan, letting out muffled "Mmph! Mmph!" sounds.

For safety's sake, Leah had been tightly bound since last night.

Even now, as Lot and Morgan prepared to leave, they had no intention of freeing her.

"Don't worry, this place is close to other houses. You'll be found soon enough. Well then, we're off."

Morgan smiled sweetly at the bound Leah.

Then, she and Lot left just like that.

All they left behind was a mess for the village.

The tied-up Leah only knew something was wrong, but no matter how hard she racked her brain, she couldn't figure out what exactly had happened.

As for the village chief, who had known a little more, she had already been killed by them.

Now, they would quietly make their way to witness the fairies' defeat.

...

Several days later,

In the Camelot army camp.

"We've completed all preparations. You may rest easy now."

Gawain, Galahad, and Baobhan Sith spoke to Fairy Morgan in unison.

"Mhm, I understand."

Fairy Morgan nodded with feigned dignity.

Then, she couldn't help but grimace internally.

Now, she finally understood how miserable it was to be a puppet ruler.

Stuck in the military camp day after day with nothing substantial to do

Or rather, no one ever expected her to do anything meaningful.

Every day, she just stared at the sky or counted ants on the ground.

The past few days had been unbearably dull.

Though there was one bright spot.

The food in Camelot was amazing.

Fairy Morgan could swear on her life that, whether in her birth from the Inner Sea of the Planet or in the millennia of memories she inherited ruling over Britain, she had never eaten such delicious food.

The meals were so good,

It almost made Fairy Morgan feel like this wasn't Britain at all.

As everyone knew, British cuisine was… well, best left unmentioned.

Camelot was an exception an outlier.

Now, Fairy Morgan understood why Camelot's soldiers had such high morale.

If we get to eat like this every day, of course we'd fight for His Majesty!

Without Lot and Morgan, we'd never taste food this good again.

For that alone, we'd give our lives!

Fairy Morgan amused herself by imagining the soldiers' reasoning.

She then said to Gawain and the others, "You may retire for the night. I shall do the same."

"Understood."

Though she looked identical to the real Morgan, everyone knew she wasn't the true queen. Thus, their attitude lacked reverence only the well-mannered Galahad maintained proper knightly etiquette.

With that, they returned to their tents.

Fairy Morgan headed back to hers.

Then,

She noticed something surprising.

There was a figure sitting on her bed.

A petite girl.

Before she could make out the details, the moonlight revealed a pair of pale, slender legs.

Huh!? Wait, what's this?

Seeing a girl suddenly appear on her bed,

Fairy Morgan's brain short-circuited for a moment.

Did they capture her for me?

I've heard some armies abduct girls for their commanders to vent their desires on.

But I'm a woman!

Even if you were going to do that, shouldn't you have given her to Lot?

Oh, right even if you did, it wouldn't matter.

That man wouldn't dare look at another woman with lust.

I've seen it clearly Lot is utterly devoted to his Morgan from another world.

Him straying?

Not even a dog would believe it.

Then what's going on here?

"Miss…" Fairy Morgan began, about to ask the girl's identity

Then, she finally saw her face clearly.

It was Melusine.

Recognizing her, Fairy Morgan couldn't possibly forget.

In her memories, though she knew Melusine wasn't on her side, she had still bestowed upon her the title and Spirit Origin of the Fairy Knight Lancelot.

Worlds may differ, but some things remained the same.

"Fairy Knight Lancelot," she blurted out.

Hearing this, Melusine's eyes lit up. She stepped closer and said, "So you do know me. And you know about my connection to Lancelot."

"Of course."

Fairy Morgan nodded, half-amused, half-exasperated.

Then, she asked curiously, "But why have you come here?"

What business did Melusine have with her?

"I'm here to seek answers."

Melusine's voice was firm.

"Answers?"

Fairy Morgan was intrigued.

What could Melusine possibly need her to explain?

Wait, that didn't make sense her current identity wasn't the Morgan who remembered the Lostbelt, but merely Queen Morgan of Camelot.

"Yes. I want to ask you about my relationship with Lancelot. Or more precisely… the truth about my origins."

Melusine stared intently at Fairy Morgan.

As if afraid of being deceived, she added, "I've been told that you're the only one who can answer me. So don't even think about lying."

"Who told you that?"

Fairy Morgan's eyes narrowed.

Who could have revealed this?

That old lecher Merlin?

No matter which world's Morgan it was, their opinion of him never changed.

"A fairy serving Tonelico told me."

Melusine's answer caught her off guard.

Tonelico?

Huh?

Fairy Morgan paused.

Then it clicked.

That was the alias Morgan used in disguise.

Seriously?

You ran into Melusine but didn't explain anything yourself, dumping this on me instead?

You really know how to make work for me.

Fairy Morgan wasn't particularly annoyed, though.

She had nothing better to do anyway.

Melusine's arrival gave her something to occupy herself with.

Now, how should she handle this?

After a moment's thought, Fairy Morgan looked at Melusine and said, "Your power… doesn't originate from this world."

"Just like that person said?"

Melusine's expression grew serious.

"Indeed. They weren't wrong. The fairies are facing a great upheaval another world is drawing near."

Fairy Morgan paused, then smiled faintly.

"In that other world, you inherited Lancelot's Spirit Origin. So in this one, I arranged for you to inherit it as well, granting you your current strength."

"You're saying… you made me this way?"

Melusine's voice trembled with shock.

"Yes."

Fairy Morgan nodded solemnly.

And she did so under the authority of Queen Morgan's name.

She had no intention of making Melusine her subordinate.

Power held no appeal for her.

In the end, this was something only the real Morgan could handle.

I'm sure she'll be thrilled to hear how highly I've spoken of her.

Fairy Morgan grinned to herself.
