In the Knights of Favonius, Ye Ruo was a rising star, a dazzling talent whose growth was watched with high expectations. His mastery of swordsmanship was so profound that he had even restored a lost styleâthe dual-wielding technique of Arundolyn, the Lion of Light.
Grand Master Varka had been overjoyed at the discovery, feeling that his random decision to take in the boy had gifted the Knights a true treasure.
Ye Ruo's strength was recognized by even the most veteran knights. His control over the wind element was exceptional; he possessed both his natural abilities and a Vision, making him far more powerful than a typical Anemo user.
He viewed elemental power with a fluid imagination, developing new skills based on his past-life memoriesâlike the "face the wind" techniqueâmaking the element truly "happy" to play with.
Despite his status as a top knight, he often wished for a Hydro Vision instead. In his memories, Hydro users like Yelan, Mona, and even Barbara possessed incredible utilityâhealing, invisibility, and teleportation. More importantly, they always seemed to be rich, unlike him, who had to work hard for every Mora.
His life was not without conflict. For years, he had been locked in a secret struggle with "The Doctor," Dottore. The Fatui Harbinger had appeared in Mondstadt as part of his own dark schemes, and their early encounters had been rough for Ye Ruo.
Dottore, who utilized prosthetic "segments" of himself from different ages, was a terrifying opponent. Even Diluc's power was dismissed by the Doctor as insignificant, yet Dottore looked at Ye Ruo with a greedy, dissecting gaze, as if he were a rare specimen.
Through these constant confrontations, Ye Ruo's strength had risen rapidly. He had learned how to fight back, eventually making the Doctor suffer several losses.
Though that specific segment of the Harbinger had temporarily returned to Snezhnaya, Ye Ruo knew the "lunatic research scholar" would be back. He viewed Dottore as an unlucky "dog skin plaster" that he couldn't quite shake off.
Now, Ye Ruo had temporarily left the Knights to focus on his own projects. His free-spirited nature was well-known, and his departure felt like an extended vacation that his comrades simply accepted.
With capable knights like Jean, Amber, and Kaeya handling the daily duties, he felt the city was in good hands. Most importantly, his "cheat" system had finally woken up after ten years of silence.
The Novel Lottery System allowed him to publish stories and earn "Legendary Prestige" based on his influence. He could use this prestige to pull for treasure chests.
Common Treasure Chests cost 160 Prestige and contained white-grade resources like weapons, Mora, and ores.
Exquisite Treasure Chests cost 500 and offered blue-grade items, including those from other worlds
Precious Treasure Chests cost 5,000 for purple-grade treasures.
Luxurious Golden Treasure Chests cost 200,000 for legendary items from across the multiverse.
Higher tiers were unlocked by pulling lower ones; for example, 100 pulls from Common chests were required to unlock Exquisite ones. Ye Ruo found the system's interfaceâwhich looked exactly like the chests from his old world's gameâstrangely familiar.
He used his personal savings to establish the Wind and Bird Bookstore and released his first novels. Using his "Wind Knight" name as a starting point, his influence grew rapidly, providing a steady stream of Prestige.
He sat at his desk and began writing the next volumes of "Detective of the Windy City," adapting themes like the Gaia Memories into "Dead Demon God's Resentment" to fit Teyvat's logic.
"For the next volume," he muttered, "the Museum will sell items made from the remains of the Serpent God, smuggled from a remote, stormy island nation. Using that evil object allows one to transform into a giant snake, but it erodes the soul the more it's used ."
To the well-informed, the connection to the Fatui's Delusions was obvious, but Ye Ruo would never admit to any hidden meaning.
He checked his status: [Legendary Prestige: 1605]. The value was rising as his books spread through Mondstadt's population of hundreds of thousands. He decided to do ten pulls from the Common Treasure Chest.
The chests burst open with light. "Congratulations! You have received: Hilichurl's Large Wooden Club, 5,000 Mora, Crystal Ore x3, Dragonspine Pine Wood x100, Bamboo Shoots x20, Cor Lapis x1, Iron Ore x10, Naku Weed x3, Enhanced Hilichurl Training Stake, and... a pair of Eula's underwear."
Ye Ruo's face went black. "A pair of Eula's underwear? Dog system, don't hack me! I'm not some creep !" If Eula ever found out, he'd have to burrow into the ground in shame. He vowed to keep that item buried in the system space forever.
He gathered his manuscripts and headed to Good Hunter to meet Noelle. The silver-haired maid-knight stood up instantly when he arrived, looking respectful and flustered.
"Senior! I heard you would be guiding my training," Noelle said, her eyes shining with determination. "I've been asking everyone for adviceâmaking Baron Bunny from Amber, helping Kaeya with his tasks, even asking Klee for tips... though Jean locked us both up for two days after that."
Ye Ruo sighed. "Noelle, stop that. You aren't learning what you actually need to learn ." He saw her as a maid-knight who had gone to an extreme, trying to do everything for everyone without ever saying no.
This was why she had failed the knight selection seven times. It wasn't a lack of strengthâshe was powerful enough to break a dozen longswords before Wagner forged her a custom greatswordâbut a problem with her mindset.
"I wait for things to pile up and handle them all at once," Ye Ruo explained. "If you chase every cat and dog, you'll be exhausted before the day is over.
You can't maintain a whole city alone. I want you to temporarily act as my personal maid and live the life of a normal Mondstadter. We're going to practice saying 'no' and analyzing priorities."
Noelle blinked, impressed by his reasoning. "As expected of a Senior! Please, let me help you by your side!"
As they walked, Noelle asked about his novels. "The Knights were so shocked. Writing about Master Jean and the others becoming idols was like a bomb went off."
Ye Ruo chuckled. "I just want a stable life, Noelle. My next book will be about Old Mondstadt, Decarabian, and the Wind God."
Elsewhere, Diluc sat in Angel's Share, reading "Detective of the Windy City" with a serious expression. He recognized the references to the Fatui and their Delusions immediately. "You really have the nerve to turn this into a story, Ye Ruo ."
He looked at the "duo" in the book and shuddered, wondering if the other character was based on Kaeya. "Charles, send a batch of our best wine to Ye Ruo. It'll help the sales."
Meanwhile, Eula sat on a high ridge, reading the same book. Passing a passage about two partners becoming one, her face flushed crimson. "What am I thinking?! Damn you, Ye Ruo! This is a grudge! I'm adding it to the list!"
In a small tavern, Venti was being refused service. "Wait, you're not an adult yet," the bartender said firmly. No matter how Venti pleaded, the man wouldn't budge.
"Mr. Bartender," Ye Ruo's voice called from the corner. "Give the bard his wine. He's an adult. I can guarantee it ." Venti turned and saw Ye Ruo smiling at him.
"Thank you, little brother!" Venti chirped, hugging the bottles. He watched Ye Ruo leave, noticing the incredible elemental resonance coming from the "Wind Knight". "So that's him. Truly an interesting guy."
Ye Ruo, passing through the city, spotted two Fatui diplomats, Mikhail and Lyudmila. Mikhail went pale as he walked past. "If that God of Killing is in a bad mood, we're dead in a second," he whispered once Ye Ruo was out of earshot. "He destroyed the Doctor's elite team. He's a killer who looks like a gentleman."
Ye Ruo ignored them, his mind already on his next work: "Old Mond: Pupils of the Gu King". The announcement of a story about the Demon God War, Decarabian, and the North Wind King Andreus immediately detonated the city with excitement. Even Jean was shocked. "How did he know so much? "
The first batch of 10,000 copies sold out immediately. Readers were transported back 3,000 years to an era of barren ice and snow. They read of Decarabian, the "Lonely King of the Tower," a monarch who believed his people loved him while he actually crushed them beneath a prison of wind. The story introduced the Gunnhild family, who fled the tyrant's rule into the freezing wilds.
As the tribe reached the brink of extinction, the volume ended abruptly: "[But at that moment, they ushered in the most critical twist! That's a miracle, that's hope!] "
Wailing was heard across the city. "Wind Knight, why do you always stop at the most critical moment?!" residents cried. "Whoever invented this technique should be arrested!"
