Chapter 61: Capturing Gastly (End)
After watching this scene, Brock rubbed his eyes. Holding the necklace in his hand, he pointed at it and asked Gastly curiously, "Gastly, did she go inside?"
Hearing Brock, Gastly nodded and said, "That's right, she went inside the necklace. Kid, I didn't expect you were actually her lover! You fulfilled my condition so quickly. Come on! Capture me!"
Hearing Gastly, Brock took the Master Ball out of his pocket and threw it towards Gastly. Subsequently, the Master Ball struck Gastly, and just like that, Gastly was captured by the Master Ball.
Seeing Gastly captured by the Master Ball, Brock intended to go pick it up, but unexpectedly, the Master Ball flew back by itself, circled once around Brock, and then vanished without a trace. Seeing this, Brock knew the Master Ball containing Gastly had returned to the system.
Brock looked around the room; only some furniture remained. Thinking that Gastly had now been captured by him, this furniture was also useless, so might as well benefit himself. Thus, Brock strolled around the cabin once more. All the furniture in the cabin disappeared.
Seeing the cabin was now empty, Brock walked out, preparing to find Ash and the others. Just then, Brock heard a voice, "Brock! Didn't expect to find you here! You really made us search hard for you!"
Brock looked towards the direction the voice came from and saw Ash and the others walking towards him. Subsequently, Ash's group reached Brock's side.
Just then, Ash complained to Brock, "Brock! Are you even a friend?! Why did you leave?! If you hadn't left, Misty wouldn't have beaten me up so badly!"
Hearing Ash, Brock said apologetically, "Ash, sorry! Actually, I really couldn't help you then! How about this? I'll give you a Pokémon. Let's just let this matter pass, okay?"
As soon as Ash heard Brock was going to give him a Pokémon, he quickly asked, "Brock! What kind of Pokémon is it?!"
Hearing Ash, Brock took out a Poké Ball containing a Magikarp and handed it to Ash, saying, "Open it yourself, and you'll know." (The Pokémon Brock bought – because Brock hadn't released them yet, they remained as items with Brock and wouldn't be automatically transferred back).
Ash accepted the Poké Ball, still guessing what kind of Pokémon was inside.
Misty saw Brock give a Pokémon to Ash and said unhappily, "Brock! You can't just give one to him! What about the rest of us?!"
Hearing Misty, Brock looked at Misty, Melanie, and Daisy. He thought for a moment, Anyway, I bought that many Magikarp... So, he replied in a gentle tone, "Misty, Melanie, Daisy, you all get one too." After speaking, Brock took out the remaining Poké Balls containing Magikarp and handed them out respectively to Misty and the others.
Seeing Brock take out the Poké Balls, Misty immediately accepted hers. Melanie and Daisy looked at each other for a moment, then also accepted their Poké Balls. Seeing Ash and the others had all received their Poké Balls, Brock subsequently took out the Poké Ball containing Feebas.
Then Brock and the others released the Pokémon from inside the Poké Balls. Just like that, four Magikarp and one Feebas appeared before them, jumping about energetically.
Seeing it was Magikarp, Misty said disdainfully, "Brock! Why is it Magikarp?! What's the use of such a weak Pokémon?!"
Hearing Misty, Brock explained, "Misty, don't look down on it! Didn't you notice? These Magikarp are close to evolving!"
Hearing Brock, Ash thought back to Brock's previous Gyarados and stared intently at the Magikarp on the ground.
Ash remembered he already had six Pokémon. He felt conflicted, unsure which Pokémon to send back. So, he asked Brock, "Brock! Who do you think I should send back?"
Hearing Ash's question, Brock recalled the plot from the anime in his previous life: Ash was soon going to release his Butterfree. Should I change this outcome?!... Forget it! Let's change this ending! That would make my coming to this world worthwhile.
So, Brock replied, "Ash, send Butterfree back! Anyway, you don't really need it right now."
Hearing Brock, Ash nodded and thought, What Brock said makes some sense... I'll listen to him!
Having decided, Ash took out his Pokédex and transferred Butterfree back.
Seeing Ash transfer Butterfree, Brock said to Ash, "Ash, recall your Magikarp now! Also, everyone else, recall your Magikarp too!"
After speaking, Brock took out a Poké Ball and recalled the Feebas in front of him. Hearing Brock, Ash and the others also recalled the Magikarp before them.
Melanie held the Poké Ball containing her Magikarp tightly in her hand, thinking, This is the first Pokémon Brock gave me... I will definitely take good care of it!
Seeing everyone had recalled their Poké Balls, Brock then looked at the sky. He knew nightfall was approaching fast. So, Brock suggested, "It's gotten late. Let's find a place to sleep! We'll continue traveling tomorrow!"
After Brock spoke, everyone unanimously agreed to find a place to sleep. So, Brock led Ash and the group to the same cabin where he had captured Gastly.
Melanie looked at the cabin and noticed there wasn't a single thing inside. She asked Brock curiously, "Brock, why is there nothing at all inside this cabin?! Also... isn't it bad for us to trespass into someone else's house like this?"
Hearing Melanie, Brock explained, "Melanie, Ash, Misty, Daisy, don't worry! I asked around; nobody lives here. Besides, we're just staying overnight for one night; nothing to worry about."
Hearing Brock's explanation, Ash and the others didn't say anything further. So, the group divided the labor to make dinner. An unknown amount of time passed. Brock's group had finished eating and were preparing to sleep. They slowly closed their eyes and, before they knew it, drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, after Brock's group washed up and finished breakfast, they continued heading towards Saffron City.
Brock's group walked for an unknown number of days. They arrived at a canyon. Ash saw many Butterfree there and asked Brock, "Brock! Why are there so many Butterfree here?!"
Hearing Ash, Brock explained, "Ash, right now is Butterfree's mating season. What they need to do is find a mate, then fly together across the sea to lay their eggs."
After speaking, Brock continued to Ash and the others, "Ash, your Butterfree isn't with you right now anyway, so let's not dwell on this matter. Let's just keep traveling!"
