Chapter 48 - Jedi 48

AN: DOUBLE RELEASE GO BACK A CHAP

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leaving Tipoca City had been rather simple, and Corvus was currently in the cockpit of the Falcon, flying towards Kamino's former capitol.
Stewing in the seat next to him, Yon was staring unblinkingly at his red tinged green lightsaber.
Piloting his spaceship through torrential rains, and dark clouds, Corvus had supplied himself some hot coffee, and was munching on some snacks. Distant thunder churned, and the primal nature of this water world thrummed all around them. Both physically, and spiritually.
It was wild and untamed. The song of Kamino told a story of man vs nature, and nature won. In a way, this world reminded Corvus of Kashyyyk. The intelligent lifeforms of both planets lived high in the sky in fear of those creatures who lived in the dark.
Influenced by such untamed freedom, it was no wonder Yon-who had a penchant for violence-would be unable to keep his mouth shut when Corvus had suggested they ally with CF-99. The teen was, afterall, a real living breathing person. He had his own thoughts, fears and desires. Life wasn't some game where the NPC's would agree with everything you said. He wasn't some protagonist where every action he partook in would be viewed favorably.
Honestly, Corvus somewhat blamed himself. Investing so much time into Jax, it was easy to disregard this more aggressive, antagonistic student of his. Yeah, he'd been teaching Yon, but there was a bond of trust between him and Jax.
Even before he replaced Jax's arms and took him as his student, the white haired observant teen had clicked with Corvus, and they made for an effective duo. In essence, they were a lot like Batman and Robin, and complemented each other well.
Yon, meanwhile, was arrogant, bloodthirsty, and wanted power for revenge. Terrible qualities in a Jedi, but great when one wanted to wage war. Corvus thought he could ease his morality onto Yon, and help mold him into a man gradually over time, yet he had miscalculated. He should have known better.
Sighing to himself, and taking a sip from his coffee cup, Corvus glanced to his left, and saw Yon's reflection in the window as Yon stared blankly off into the distance.
Corvus was expecting anger or the sting of betrayal, but Yon just seemed lost.
It would be easy for Corvus to write this off as a loss, find time to drop Yon off with Bail Organa or back to Tython, but Corvus wouldn't do that. Taking on an apprentice was a sacred responsibility in his mind, and loyalty to his cause was what made him the man he was.
Starting this early rebellion was ideally for the people of the galaxy. But such a lofty, ephemeral goal was almost meaningless in Corvus's eyes unless he had people he knew that were worth fighting for. Perhaps it was noble to fight for an idea, but Corvus would rather fight for people.
Letting such thoughts marinate, Corvus decided he would train Yon in not only the ways of the Force, but also in adulthood. Then, one day, when Yon took apprentices of his own, the Jedi Order would grow for the better. Once those people became Knights, and carried his teachings, then the galaxy would prosper. Like this, Corvus would plant seeds for a future tree he may not see. But that was fine, so long as he knew that the younger generation would benefit, he would do whatever it took.
"What do you think is a Jedi's greatest weapon, Yon?"
"...the Force." Yon replied in a hoarse tone, as if he were giving an answer he thought the teacher wanted to hear.
"A Jedi can always rely upon the Force to be there for them. It is a friend that aids us on our journey through life, but it is not inherently a weapon. Oh no, the Force is much more than that. Try again." Corvus lightly admonished.
"A lightsaber?" Yon answered this time with more confidence.
"An apt response, but not quite. Many Jedi and Sith would like to make us think that we are bound to such material things, but we are so much more than laser swords or enforcing our will upon the Force." Corvus chided.
"What is it then?" Yon nearly snapped.
"Peace."
"Peace? How can peace be a weapon?" Yon frowned.
Corvus hid the ghost of a smile in his mug, glad to see some emotion return to his morose student.
"It is the ultimate weapon. One so powerful, it drives tyrants to madness, and brings fear to the Sith. Deprive them of conflict, or the threat of violence, and they become nothing."
"...but Master, if peace were so simple, then this war never would have started. Order 66 would be nothing but a fever dream! You said it yourself, the Order is flawed, we must return to the old ways, to mix light and dark!" Yon swiped his hand, and began to raise his voice.
Corvus smiled, then closed his eyes. He recalled moments of Earth history where genuinely peaceful movements had brought about substantial change for the better. Focusing on the feelings of freedom & serenity that he experienced when appreciating great men like Ghandi or Dr. King, Corvus allowed this metaphysical sentiment to suffuse his person, and the cabin they occupied.
Opening himself up to the Force, and relaxing his shoulders, he accepted all the weight & negative emotions pulling Yon down. As he opened himself to the Force, he felt the primal nature of Kamino raging down upon his psyche, and threatened to overwhelm him, yet Corvus paid it no mind. Even though this boundless planet could swallow him at any moment, Corvus refused to show it any fear, and was like water, allowing the wild nature of the Force to flow around him as if he were a stream. Reaching a level of equilibrium, Corvus felt his connection to the Force strengthen, and he nearly lost himself in this meditation. Eyes closed, Corvus spared Yon what attention he could whilst he underwent this epiphany.
"Focus on this feeling. Breathe it, taste it, look at it. What is it?" Corvus said in an almost ethereal tone, as if he were speaking through a body not his own.
Yon stared perplexed at Corvus, and eventually replied.
"It's beautiful." Yon said, yet to Corvus's ears, it was like he was whispering from a mile away.
Corvus began to breathe in time with the sway of the waves, the patter of the rainfall, and the thrum of thunder on the horizon. As he breathed, Kamino breathed.
An unknown amount of time passed, and Corvus found that he had unconsciously landed the Falcon on top of a half sunken set of ruins. Inexplicably, the Force had guided him to his goal.
Turning to his side, Corvus saw Yon asleep, and with a happy smile on his often scowling face.
Corvus sighed, hoping his troubled student would find such sleep a more common occurrence. Yet knowing the horrors of PTSD, and what more they could face, he wouldn't count on it. All he could do was trust in the Force.
"Peace, my Padawan, is the goal of all Jedi." Corvus whispered to himself.
"Hm, Master?" Yon groggily wiped his eyes, and stretched.
"Come along, Yon. We have arrived at our destination." Corvus patted the teen on the shoulder, then stood to stretch.
"Master, look!" Yon pointed out the window.
Corvus wondered what had him so excited, and saw that a large swath of clouds had parted, and the raging, ever pervasive storm that clouded over Kamino had stopped. Sunshine pierced this perpetually gloomy world, and revealed a glorious ocean of bright blue! He was stunned at the beauty of nature, and watched on in awe as thousands of fish were put on display.
"Jax will be so jealous! You really were right, Master Corvus, peace is the greatest weapon of a Jedi!" Yon whooped, and ran towards the ramp in boyish glee.
Corvus stared out the window of the cockpit somewhat stunned by what had occured. Placing a hand on the glass, he found it warm to the touch, as if there was something there just out of sight, then it was gone.
It was hard to describe, but this sensation was like a good sneeze on the first day of spring, or having a family member scratch a spot that couldn't be reached.
"Thank you." Corvus whispered his thanks to the Force, and closed his eyes in prayer.
"Come on Master, we have to explore while the rain has stopped!" Yon yelled impatiently down the hallway.
Corvus felt the cold return to the window pane, and he slowly exhaled.
"Yeah. Let's go."
Putting on his Revan mask, and dawning his white-Jedi styled Cortosis-Weave robes, Corvus followed behind Yon.
The Force wasn't giving him any warnings, and the air was filled with serenity, but that didn't mean he was stupid. Ancient ruins always had some hidden danger lurking about, especially in a universe like Star Wars.
However, such dark thoughts temporarily fled to the back of his mind as he felt sunlight fall upon him. Basking in the light, Corvus saw tiny drops of rain fall all around him as if it were in slow motion. The Force had answered his call earlier, and had created a truly mesmerizing scene.
Rainbows occupied the horizon, and a sense of calm occupied this region, even the fishes down below had temporarily refrained from preying upon one another.
Glancing at the derelict metal skyscrapers, and skewed abandoned, half sunken buildings, it was quite the contrast with this peaceful atmosphere. It almost felt like his act had been acknowledged by this sad city, and it breathed a sigh of relief. On the edge of his vision, he barely saw the echoes of ghosts-drowned victims who had perished in some horrible super tsunami-nodding their long necks in thanks towards Corvus before they dissipated, and became one with the Force.
Finding Yon on an awning that overlooked the sea, Corvus silently took a seat next to him.
"The contrast between light and dark is before us. Do you see the dark thunder clouds on the horizon kept at bay by the peaceful light? Harmony has reached this place, and the specters of the past relieved of their burden. Take hold of this mental state, and apply it to your shadow training. Come. Join me." Corvus patted down next to him.
A moment later, Corvus began to turn invisible upon inhalation, and then visible with exhalation.
Connected to the general area earlier, he had attained a small amount of enlightenment, and was actively working to improve his own innate ability.
Yon took his advice, and silently followed suit.
Like that, master and apprentice spent nearly five hours in meditation, harmonizing with nature, with light & dark, yin & yang.
This was an incredibly rejuvenating experience, and left Corvus feeling as if he had slept for hours. Not only that, but hunger and thirst disappeared when he was enraptured by this phenomenal state.
The only reason why he didn't keep at it for longer was that the clouds were slowly rolling back in, that and he sensed a presence approaching them from behind.
Brimming with lightside energies, this being stopped about 20ft behind their backs.
"In all my thousands of years of life, I have never seen such harmony between the light and the dark. My name is Kina Ha, an Altisian Jedi. Have you come here to discuss the recent tragedy?" A fairy-like voice called out.
Having his peace broken, and recognizing the voice as belonging to a kaminoan, Yon turned around, and ignited his red-tinted green lightsaber.
Corvus stood up, and regarded the kaminoan, happy to have accidentally stumbled upon a fellow Jedi. He somewhat recognized her as Kina Ha, a character from Legends. There wasn't much about her, other than her incredibly long life span, and her supposed mastery in the Force. Although from what he recalled, long life was no supplement for battle experience. Perhaps she was better at Force abilities rather than lightsaber combat?
Truly, the Force worked in mysterious ways.
When he turned around, however, her face paled, and her lightsaber ignited almost instantly.
"Revan! So you are the instigator of so many Jedi deaths! I do not know how you survived, but I will not allow you to take one more innocent!" Kina Ha said with the kind of determination that would make Mace Windu proud.
Corvus sighed. He never expected this Revan persona to bite him in the ass.
Hopefully he could diffuse this with logic and reasoning.
"Master, let us fight together!" Yon eagerly exclaimed. Leaking a little bloodlust, the short black haired teen went invisible, and now with the aid of the Taozin Amulet basically became invisible in the Force too.
Kina Ha took this as the threat it was, and retreated backwards.
Scaling a five story rusted structure covered in ivy, the kaminoan Jedi took a meditative pose. A second later, the vines covering the derelict building came to life, and moved at her command.
Suddenly, Corvus was staring at thousands of vines that intended him harm.
"Ah bantha shit."
