Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: The Last Beam

Well, ok then," Taka said, sheathing his sword and walking away before vanishing.

"So you're not done, huh?" Ryuu said.

"Nope, not even close. I'm going to save my kingdom," Peter replied.

Then Ryuu let his arm go and stepped back.

"Where did you get that power from?" Ryuu asked.

"From my father. He passed it down to me," Peter said.

"So your father mastered the light element. I like it. I wish I could have fought," Ryuu said.

"Well, this time, I'm going to land a hit on you. I've got the whole kingdom on my back," Peter said, getting into a fighting stance.

"Why do you think it's different? You just got a handout—you didn't even train," Ryuu said with a smile.

"Ok," Peter said, focusing.

"Your ability is elemental. Nothing too special. So, let's see what you got," Ryuu said.

Peter smiled, then vanished into the air, his leg glowing with light.

"Divine Kick!" Peter shouted as he sent a light strike down to the ground, but Ryuu jumped out of the way.

"You remember what I said? Your light ability is an element. Oh, and last time I checked, I have mastery over all seven elements," Ryuu said, pointing at Peter, who was still in the air. A small light beam formed at his finger and shot toward Peter.

"Oh, I don't need to dodge—that's literally my power," Peter said.

The light beam grazed his cheek, drawing blood. Peter touched the ground. It hit me, he thought.

"Don't be so surprised. Just because we're using the same element doesn't mean you won't get hurt. After all, it's my power," Ryuu said.

"Alright, I don't care. I'm going to land a hit on you," Peter shouted, flying forward with a punch. Ryuu sidestepped, grabbed Peter's arm, and slung him to the ground. Then Ryuu jumped into the air, forming a fireball, and sent it crashing down.

Boom! Fire spread across the area.

As smoke filled the area, Peter appeared at Ryuu's face, palm forward, a light beam about to burst.

"Fast," Ryuu said calmly.

"This is over! Dodge this!"

Before Peter could strike, on the mountains, Taka stood, sword in hand.

"Hmph."

In a blink, Ryuu and Peter switched places. Now Ryuu was on the offensive.

"Huh?" Peter said.

"Dodge this," Ryuu said, his hand coated with red Spiritual Force. He punched Peter straight into the ground.

Boom! Smoke filled the area.

Ryuu landed where he had sent Peter but saw nothing. Where is he? he thought.

Then, out of nowhere, a light beam came.

"Wha—" Ryuu thought.

The beam passed; Ryuu barely dodged it.

"Close," he muttered.

"Take this!" a voice called from above.

Another light beam struck, blowing the smoke aside. Instead of dodging, Ryuu switched places with the attack.

He switched places with my attack, Peter thought.

Ryuu waved his hand downward. Wind forced Peter crashing to the ground.

Boom!

Peter got up quickly. Ryuu vanished, then reappeared behind him, ready to strike. Peter flipped over the attack and countered, but Ryuu spun behind him, tapping his back and sending him forward.

"Damn it… I feel paralyzed," Peter said.

"You're a good kid, but you need fighting experience if you want to touch me," Ryuu said.

Peter quickly transformed into particles and soared into the sky, then returned to normal, staring Ryuu in the eyes.

"I know, but I will keep fighting," Peter said.

"Ok," Ryuu replied.

Peter raised his arms.

"Divine Light Beam of the Heavens!" he shouted. Light beams poured from the sky. Ryuu just smiled.

"Let's move with the flow," Ryuu said.

The beams rained for a minute, but Ryuu dodged every one, moving like he was dancing.

Damn it, it's like he knows where everything's going, Peter thought.

Peter turned into light particles and touched down.

Where is he? he wondered.

As the wind blew, Ryuu formed beside him.

"What the hell!" Peter shouted, jumping away.

Ryuu faded, then reappeared behind Peter.

"What was that… wind clone?" Peter asked before a punch hit his back, sending him forward.

"Wait! I can't move!" Peter shouted.

"Of course not. I hit your pressure points—you won't be able to move for fifteen minutes," Ryuu said.

"Damnit!" Peter screamed.

The wind lifted Ryuu into the air like a god.

On the mountains, Taka muttered, "Man, this makes me want to fight you, Ryuu."

"Alright, Peter, this is the end for you," Ryuu said, hovering.

Damnit, I can't move, Peter thought.

"Ok, let's combine all the elements into one energy ball," Ryuu said.

In the mountains, Taka whispered, "What is he planning?"

"Fire, lightning, wind, earth, water, light, and darkness… all the elements, combine!" Ryuu shouted. A massive energy ball formed.

"What the hell is that huge ball?" Peter said, unable to move.

"I'll put in just one percent—that's it," Ryuu said, smiling.

"No, no, what the hell is that?" Peter shook.

"Alright, now take this!" Ryuu launched the energy ball.

"Oh no… is this going to kill me?" Peter panicked.

On the mountains, Taka stood.

"Damn it, Ryuu!" Taka yelled, standing.

"That attack is going to destroy the mountains and the village!" Taka vanished.

Peter tried to move but couldn't, staring at the fused elements.

Is this how I die? My kingdom… it's over. At least I'll be with you, Dad. I truly love you all, Peter thought.

Then Taka appeared in front of him.

"Huh?" Peter said, confused.

"Goddamnit, Ryuu! You're not using your brain," Taka said.

He bent his knees, gripping his sword, purple Spiritual Force surrounding it.

"One Sword Style: Savior Slash!"

Taka leapt toward the attack, clashing it with his sword.

Boom! The explosion shot upward toward Ryuu.

"Taka?" Ryuu exclaimed, then vanished, touching down.

"Hey, Taka, why did you stop the attack?" Ryuu asked.

"Are you stupid? You were going to destroy the mountains and village," Taka said angrily.

"Really? I only used one percent of my power," Ryuu replied.

"Still, you dumb idiot! You have a kid, grandchildren, and people who depend on you," Taka scolded.

"You're right. I shouldn't have done something that stupid," Ryuu admitted.

"Duh, I know I'm right," Taka said.

While Ryuu was schooled, Peter could finally move.

I can move now. That swordsman was strong—he destroyed that giant energy ball. Wait… Ryuu talking… this is my chance for my last attack. I can't waste time, Peter thought.

He pointed his finger, forming a small light beam the size of a lizard.

With everybody I have—my people, my wife, my sister, my mother, my father, my kingdom… everything depends on this last shot! Peter thought, and shot it.

It traveled at light speed toward Taka and Ryuu.

"Huh?" Taka noticed.

He barely unsheathed his sword and sliced the beam in half. The upper half shot straight toward Ryuu.

Meanwhile, Ryuu apologized, bowing repeatedly.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" he shouted.

The beam struck Ryuu's face, blood dripping down.

"Huh?" Ryuu muttered, touching his cheek.

"What was the light beam for, huh?" Taka demanded.

Peter's eyes widened. It hit him… my beam hit him! My kingdom… I did it, Father… I did it!

Peter jumped up.

"YEAHHHHHHH!" he screamed with excitement.
