Chapter 353 - Chapter 353: Metamorphosis

//Static crackles heavily before giving way to a bouncy, brass-heavy swing tune. The music fades slightly as a fast-talking announcer with a sharp transatlantic accent cuts in.//

"Calling all listeners on the Homefront! Grab your ration books and pull up a chair, folks, because we have a classified dispatch hot off the wire from the front lines!"

//Sound of a telegraph ticking rapidly in the background//

"When we last left our brave boy Noa, he was put through the absolute meat grinder! Sent into the jaws of danger on a mission that would make even the toughest soldier shake in his combat boots. With his fate balancing on the edge of a devastating weapon, Noa stared down hell itself, taking a physical and mental beating that would have sidelined a lesser man!"

//Dramatic orchestral swell//

"But folks, there is no rest for the weary in this man's army! Just when you thought the skies were clear, tragedy struck! Out on a routine patrol with his trusted pals, they were bushwhacked! Ambushed by a powerhouse of an enemy who didn't play by the rules! It was a bloody scrape, a real knock-down, drag-out fight to the finish! They made it out alive, but not without some heavy bandages and a few close shaves with the grim reaper!"

//Somber, low brass notes//

"Limping back to friendly lines, Noa had a hard truth to swallow. The wolves are at the door, folks, and to protect his home and the people he loves, our hero realized he needed to get tougher, and he needed to do it yesterday! So, what does a cornered hero do? He bets the house!"

//Rapid, rising drum roll//

"Using nothing but his raw guts, hard-earned knowledge, sharp intuition, and a roll of the dice, Noa took the ultimate gamble! He altered his very own biology, plunging into a terrifying, feverish sleep, a complete metamorphosis that nearly punched his one-way ticket for good!"

//A sudden, ringing silence, followed by a single, sharp chime//

"But he made it through the night, listeners. He has opened his eyes, and let me tell you... the world he is looking at isn't the same one he left behind because his eyes and senses are not the same anymore."

//Triumphant, soaring big-band finale begins to play//

"Will this reckless gamble pay off? Just what exactly is our hero capable of now? Stay tuned to see the amazing adventures of Noa, and experience the world you love with brand new eyes! Don't touch that dial!"

//Static crackles, and the transmission fades out//

Consciousness invaded the peaceful, limitless nothingness. My body stirred. The first thing I felt was the sheer weight of my heart pushing hard against my chest, sending electricity all over my body and shocking it back to life as it violently spasmed, forcefully pulling me out of that blissful state of non-existence.

It was a battle. Something was trying to drag me out of the best sleep I had ever had. I wanted to stay in the void, but my heart refused to allow it, accelerating to an abnormal, pounding rate. I felt more and more energy coursing through my veins. My arms, which had felt almost gelatinous a moment ago, suddenly pulled taut as my muscles explosively kicked into action. My legs strained, and my back arched. So much power was surging through me that I felt like I was about to levitate right off the bed.

Then, my eyes opened.

I observed the ceiling like it was the most interesting thing ever. I tried to focus, but my thoughts were in absolute chaos. "Who? Where? What?" Random words spilled from my mouth as if I were learning how to speak all over again.

I shook my heavy head and rubbed my eyes, desperate to focus my scattered thoughts. But I froze immediately when I noticed something unbelievable. Complex seals, combined and arranged to resemble northern runes, were igniting with a brilliant blue light across my arm. They shone with raw power, emitting an almost silent hum as chakra vibrated at such a high frequency that the air directly touching my skin felt visibly fuzzy.

"Chakra..." That single word finally kickstarted my brain. Slowly, the memories flooded back, reminding me who I was, where I was, and exactly what I had done to myself.

"I didn't die?" I asked, almost in disbelief that the seal formation had actually worked. I started laughing as I shifted my weight and sat up in bed. I looked around, noticing how calm my breathing was and how fast my mind had reorganized. "Hm! That is weird."

The house was entirely quiet, which brought peace to my mind. I pushed the blanket aside, only to be amazed as the seals were now growing increasingly vibrant while my body regained its strength. By the time I stood up, I couldn't ignore how beautiful the geometric design of the array was, with the symbols clustered in certain areas acting as nodes to regulate the whole process.

I grinned and cracked my neck, then paused when my hand tangled in my hair. I grabbed a handful and pulled it over my shoulder, gasping at how long it had gotten. It almost reached my knees, nearly rivaling the legendary long hair of the Sannin.

I chuckled at the thought and let it flow back before looking down at my body. I was thinner than before, yet packed with incredibly lean, tough-looking muscle. My frame held so much raw strength and lightning that I was genuinely worried if I moved carelessly, my body would snap into action like a coiled spring and launch me straight through the wooden door of the room.

Glancing at that exit, I grew confused since I didn't remember my head being quite so close to the top frame. "Did I get taller?" I looked over at the mirror in my room and groaned. "I did get a lot taller. Damn, I have to buy some new clothes now."

As I was thinking of walking over to the door, the world almost blurred, and I suddenly found myself right in front of it in a single step. I was utterly baffled as I looked back. "Am I having a memory blackout?" However, the answer was no. I had simply moved. The physical execution was just so fast that it felt like teleporting. There were markings on the floor behind me with faint static crackling over them.

My brain functioned almost entirely on instinct. The moment I had the intent to move, the signal existed and my legs reacted at the exact same time without needing to consciously translate the command. I had flickered using such a low level of chakra that my body had already generated it back. The signal transmission, physical movement, and chakra use were regulated far beyond what is humanly possible.

It was an intensely intoxicating feeling. The fact that my body could do exactly what I wanted with such precise action and speed felt euphoric.

I intentionally slowed myself down as I opened the door and stepped out, looking first at the ceiling mural and the drawing of my sister. The sun came shining through the windows, and the house glowed with color from all the artwork done by me and Naruto. The hues felt much more vivid than I remembered. The smallest details were clearer to me now as my eyes caught onto them and my brain processed everything with terrifying speed.

"I was blind, and now I see," was all I could say as the words escaped from the memories of my old world. I laughed at what I had achieved. I hadn't even explored everything the seal formation had changed in my body yet, and my mind was already blown by the phenomenal results I had experienced so far.

I exhaled slowly. "Alright, let's do thi..."

Before I even completed the word, my body exploded into motion. My nerves were firing on all cylinders. I jumped over a wall and flickered to the end of it almost instantly, then bent my knees and leaped again. Lightning trailed behind me as my body flipped through the air. My feet met the other side of the wall before I darted to the end of that one as well. With absolute control over my momentum, I didn't break or hit a single thing. My body moved with such fluidity and speed that the rest of the world felt incredibly slow to me.

I relaxed my hand from a clenched fist as lightning arched between my fingers like a glowing web. The energy concentrated while I was still on the move, and I fired a condensed shot of electricity. It hit the wall so hard that the barrier protecting my house from my dangerous experiments vibrated violently. The array struggled to match the frequency of the blast, taking what felt like a long time before finally canceling it out. The barrier now shined with a red hue, a clear sign it was reeling as the seal formula compensated to heal the damaged section.

I then realized that all of that happened in a fraction of a second. I could only process it because of my vastly heightened perception.

I vaulted from the wall and felt like I was floating. As I descended, a crackling arc of electricity extended between my feet and the floor just before I settled onto the ground. I narrowed my eyes and sent out a pulse of chakra, only to be astonished. My range had expanded immensely, but it wasn't just thanks to my standard chakra sensing. I had become so sensitive to electricity that I could physically feel it in the environment surrounding me.

It acted somewhat like radar vision, integrating perfectly with my chakra perception. The sheer amount of information feeding back into my mind was massive, yet my upgraded brain processed it all without a single issue. I was still not entirely sure what exactly I was feeling. It was mostly the natural static that exists inside almost everybody and interacts with everything around them. I would definitely need time to understand this new feedback to fully utilize such a tremendous advantage.

I focused inward and sensed my own chakra reserves, only to find that they had increased exponentially. The constant use and drain of my energy to the absolute limit had forced my body to grow and generate more of it to sustain its own functions. Otherwise, it would have withered and died. I must have been provided with some serious nutrition to be able to keep up with the seal formation's growing need for more and more chakra.

"What was inside those IV bags that Ayaka gave me?" I asked myself. But then a sudden realization hit me. "Wait. I used chakra for movement and that single jutsu, yet my reserves dropped by only a fraction." They were already almost back to full.

My mind processed the information with pristine clarity. The seal formula was actively regulating the output, making sure I used just enough chakra to perfectly translate my intent without wasting a single ounce more.

"This is breathtaking," I whispered. I raised my arms in the air, admiring my work. My eyes were mesmerized by the lightning dancing between the nodes of the seal array.

Then, my attention was suddenly drawn to the front door. Someone was trying to break into my house.
