Now that things were moving into unknown territory and my future knowledge was in shambles, I had to get ready. Not everything would change. I still knew most of the important players and their abilities, but with the timeline starting to deviate that hard, I needed to get strong and fast.
I sat in my house with empty scrolls covering the floor like a paper sea. Since working on the adjustments for the One-Tail's seal, I had earned a new understanding of complicated and layered advanced Fuinjutsu. The concept of a Jinchuriki seal was genius even if flawed in Gaara's case. I could do something similar but further enhanced to stabilize my greatest card to date: Stormdrive. That would be the fastest way to push myself into a whole other tier of strength.
The first layer would be Chakra Regulation Seals. These would handle multiple tasks at once. They would primarily regulate the volume of lightning chakra moving through my body to various limbs without me needing to consciously focus on it during the heat of battle. I took inspiration from the architecture of my adjustment to the One-Tail's original seal and how it regulates a Tailed Beast's influence. It had to be a flexible formula that grew alongside my chakra reserves and network. This layer would ensure each part of my body received the exact amount of energy needed without wasting a drop. It would keep Stormdrive stable for much longer while preventing unnecessary damage to my muscles and nerves from over-stimulation.
The second layer would be built directly onto the first. Using my knowledge of medical ninjutsu from the books I have read, mixed with my own experience of circulating lightning through my body and mapping each path during the process, I will use that information to create this layer. It would act as a Direct Conduit Network. I would map out channels extending from my abdomen to high-priority areas like my head and heart. Instead of the lightning pushing its way through the standard and resistant pathways of the tenketsu, it would travel through these express lanes. This would significantly reduce the physical wear on my body and lower the resistance and the overall load on my internal systems.
The third layer would handle the Excess Discharge. Any lightning chakra that bled out from the primary channels would be focused into the Static Shield and Static Sphere. By recycling the waste energy, I could improve my close-range sensing and divert incoming projectiles with almost zero loss of efficiency. It would turn my defense into a passive byproduct of my offense.
The final layer would be the most difficult. I had to create something as flexible as the Nine-Tails' seal and as efficient as Tsunade's Strength of a Hundred Seal, which constantly feeds and assists her in maintaining her peak physical state. I had to build a Living Equation. This would be an automated seal that manages all the previous layers simultaneously to ensure perfect execution. It would act as the brain of the system by coordinating the other layers and adjusting them in real-time based on my physical state and chakra output. It would handle the background calculations while still allowing for my own input whenever I need to manually adjust Stormdrive for specific combat situations.
A grin pulled at my face as I looked over the rough drawing of my concept. "Well... I have tons of calculations to do and an entirely new seal formula to translate these ideas into active and living seals. The fun part starts now."
I opened Master Shuzo's scroll and started to use his wisdom and a lifetime of insights, merging them with my unique understanding and futuristic concepts. I began to write with a purpose I hadn't felt before. After all, I was actively realizing a vision of the future.
As expected, I stayed out all night. I started with the fourth layer of the seal because I had to find the absolute limits of my Fuinjutsu control. I needed to build on those limits, though the blueprint of the Tailed Beast seal gave me a decent chance at success. I just had to squeeze every ounce of creativity and knowledge out of my brain to bridge the gap.
By morning, I wasn't even close to done. I sighed at the long road ahead before taking a shower and preparing breakfast. Genta arrived at my door early, as expected. We ate and joked around until his father showed up to escort us to the Hokage building.
The sun was bright. Birds were chirping, and a festive atmosphere from the day before carried over. Morale looked remarkably high. Almost everyone was walking in the same direction, their curiosity and excitement burning higher the closer we got. Apparently, people enjoyed a change from time to time.
When we reached the Hokage building, I spotted multiple ANBU guarding the place from the shadows. Other Jonin and Chunin patrolled to ensure the peace while the Uchiha Police made sure no one harassed or caused discomfort to the attendants. There were flowers and paper Uchiha fans being given as gifts to the kids. Some even had balloons, which helped keep the younger ones occupied. I smiled at the scenery, enjoying the peace just as much as everyone else.
Eventually, the two elders walked out of the Hokage building. Homura and Koharu were dressed in their traditional, high-collared grey robes. The stiff, heavy fabric made them look like relics of a different era, standing in stark contrast to the energy of the crowd.
Fugaku walked next to them. He wore the formal white robes of the Hokage, but his head was still bare, his dark hair catching the morning light. The iconic red-and-white Hokage hat was missing for now, likely held by the elders to be presented at the ceremony. On his back, a deep black kimono bore the subtle, shimmering embroidery of the Uchiha fan. The stark white of his outer haori, combined with his confident steps, made him look every bit the leader the village needed.
The Uchiha started cheering first, and then the rest of the crowd followed. By the time they reached the high stand, Fugaku's smile comforted those who had been worried about the transition. It looked peaceful and genuine. For a moment, even I forgot about the ink and calculations. It felt like Konoha was finally moving forward into the exciting unknown.
Homura's voice cut through the air, pulling me back from the complex seal formulas spiraling in my mind.
"The Third has done his duty to the full extent," Homura announced. His voice carried across the plaza with practiced projection. "However, he has given much of himself. Out of concern for his health, it was decided the time has come to pass on the hat."
Koharu nodded solemnly beside him as she continued from where he stopped. "The Clan Heads, the Jonin, and this council have decided in a show of unity. The honored Daimyo has agreed to our decision. He appoints Lord Fugaku Uchiha as the Fifth Hokage."
The cheers erupted again. It was a tidal wave of sound that seemed to shake the very foundations of the building. Homura reached out and grasped the Hokage hat. The deep red fabric and the sharp white Kanji for "Fire" caught the sunlight. It looked pristine and heavy with the expectations of both Konoha and the citizens of the Land of Fire.
With a slow and deliberate motion, Homura placed the hat onto Fugaku's head.
The moment the brim settled, Fugaku's presence shifted. He stood taller and his spine straightened as he assumed the weight of the office. He looked out over the sea of villagers with eyes sharper and more focused than I had ever seen them. His smile was no longer just a comfort. It was victorious.
He radiated a level of confidence that was almost palpable. It was a raw and magnetic authority that forced even the skeptics in the crowd to nod in approval. Below the stand, the Jonin cheered with a different kind of intensity. They weren't just celebrating a new title; they were celebrating a commander. They knew Fugaku's record. They had seen his lethality and his resolve firsthand on the frontlines during the Third War. They knew they had just put a man in power who would protect the village and its people at any cost, laying down his own life without hesitation if needed.
Fugaku waited for the cheers to calm down before he spoke. "The Fourth protected this village from destruction, sacrificing himself in the process as a Hokage's duty demands. The Hokage is supposed to be a beacon of hope, someone the village looks to for strength. I promise you that strength is what Konoha will project from now on. No longer will we be treated poorly because we are too lenient. No longer will we accept disrespect from others. Konoha and its people will thrive; otherwise, the sacrifices of those before us would be a waste. I promise you, the golden age of Konoha starts now."
Cheers exploded among the spectators. Every shinobi nodded, pleased with the different tone coming out of their new leader.
After a while, Fugaku spoke again. "It is highly unusual for a Hokage to do this publicly, but I want everyone to witness why and how things will change. For too long, the Uchiha have policed the entirety of Konoha, causing friction with other great clans by interfering."
Some clan members shifted in their places. They clearly did not expect such honest and direct talk. Fugaku continued.
"However, we in return got nothing out of it but resentment and mistrust. We were kept in a disadvantaged position out of fear of change. Those days are over. Things will change, and for the best."
He took a deep breath. Anticipation built among the clan members. They were cautious, perhaps expecting the worst. However, Fugaku spoke with a benevolent tone. His voice was firm and clear. "From now on, each major clan will police its own compound by having a police force that reports directly to the Hokage office."
The eyes of the clan members shone with interest. Having autonomy over their own compounds sounded like an incredible idea. No one liked outsiders intervening in their business, and having a clansman handle disputes would soften any annoyance.
Fugaku wasn't finished. "The non-clan shinobi will police the rest of the village and any inter-clan disputes to ensure partiality."
The eyes of the shinobi from smaller families widened. They smiled as they realized they were being handed real power. It was an unexpected gift. They had often felt overshadowed by the major clans; this changed everything for them.
Fugaku noticed the atmosphere as his voice boomed with energy and excitement. "Konoha has always been and will always be the strongest hidden village. With true unity, we shall achieve its full potential and ensure the brightest future for us and the Land of Fire. That is my promise to you as your Hokage."
Multiple arms shot into the sky in absolute happiness. People cheered, caught up in the confidence of his voice. The kids picked up on the energy, making the celebration even livelier. Fugaku raised his hand to the sky as well, mirroring and reflecting the excitement of his people for what was to come.
