Chapter 171
"Okay, how about singing, Britney?" I said, getting up and heading toward the corner to grab two microphones. I also took the instrumental recording.
Britney nodded with a soft smile. She's not a singer just for the fame and money—she genuinely enjoys singing.
Paige looked excited, but it was Cher and Regina who were truly ecstatic, clasping their hands together.
"This is so awesome!" Cher exclaimed.
I glanced at Britney as I held one of the microphones. "I Don't Wanna Live Forever?" I asked casually, handing her the other mic.
We had already sung together once before
She opened a bright smile. "Let's do it!"

The girls clapped enthusiastically after we finished. If this were an anime, Cher and Regina would have had heart-shaped eyes.
"Let's sing more," Britney said, her eyes lighting up. "I was thinking something by Marshmello—maybe 'Timber'?"
I grinned and nodded, heading to the corner to grab the mobile DJ table.

After we finished singing, Britney whined, "This song is so good. You should've given it to me featuring on it."
"Ayo, girl, if it were up to you, you'd basically be featured on all of them," I told her.
"Your songs are soo good. And you should feel honored," she added, joking with a slightly pompous tone.
Then she leaned in and gave me a look. "Pleease, one more song," she said, dragging the word playfully.
"What are you trying to do with those beggars' eyes?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Who are you calling beggars' eyes? It's puppy eyes," she said, hitting me lightly.
"Okay, Britney. After you come back from your European tour in the second week of January, I'll give you a song to sing—and one to feature me on," I offered.
"You are the best, Jake!" Britney said, hugging me tightly.
"Gold Song digger," I murmured, earning another pinch from Britney.
"Jake, I heard you agreed to perform during the Super Bowl halftime show," Britney said, turning to me.
"What??" Cher, Regina, and Paige all exclaimed at once.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you guys," I said, placing a hand on my forehead like I had just remembered, then waved it off casually like it was nothing.
Cher and Regina immediately rushed over and started pinching my cheeks.
"Stop stretching my cheeks! Do you think I ate the Gomu Gomu fruit?" I grumbled.
And then I thought, frustrated: We're in 2001... do I really have to wait 30 or 40 years to find out how One Piece ends?
The rest were looking at me clueless. Bunch of uncultured people.
Britney turned to me with curiosity. "Have you already decided which songs you're going to perform?"
"Not really," I replied. "But there's one that's basically confirmed. I already closed it with Chester—he'll be featuring on it."
"The lead singer of Linkin Park?" Paige asked, surprised.
"Yes!" I said, excited. I was a fan of Linkin Park—there are few people in the world who can sing as well as Chester. "The song will be a lot different from Marshmello's usual style," I added, my tone shifting to something more serious. "Probably the other song too, considering the kind of statement the halftime show needs to make."
I remember U2 performing at the Super Bowl in 2002... I don't plan on doing anything less impactful than that.
"Sing for us," Britney suddenly asked, her eyes still glowing from the excitement.
"No way," I said playfully. "Everyone will only hear it on the day of the show."
I received a loud boo from all four girls.
To change the subject, I turned to Britney with a grin. "By the way, the party I'm throwing next week is going to be a costume party."
"I'm coming!" she shouted before I could even invite her.
After that, Britney and I sang a few more songs together—partly as a fun warm-up, but also as preparation for Tomorrowland.
------
A/N: I don't wanna live Forever without being associated with Fifty Shades (I didn't even know it was from the soundtrack), it's a normal song (even more depending on the beat).
One that I think is a good song is Promiscuous (Nelly Furtado), but I'm thinking about making J.Lo sing it (it makes more sense for the time) probably with Timbaland (but Marshmello doing the beats)
