There did not seem to be any discrepancies in his memories.
He could recall his youth, his father's dauntless and righteous attitude, and his mother's kind face.
He could remember his time as an aspiring Warrior and Cultivator, his efforts in learning powerful Dao Arts to boost his strength, and his merits of slaughtering countless beasts.
He remembered the sole goal he had sworn to uphold, the people who accompanied him, and his home; Sun did not believe that he had forgotten anything.
Sun brushed his hair back as he plainly assured Shade of Autumn.
"I do not recall learning a healing Dao Art... I can only recall minor experience as a Medical Expert, but that is all..."
"You truly do not remember...?"
Shaking his head lightly, Sun sighed and wondered aloud.
"Maybe I really have lost some memories?"
"That should be the case. Your body remembers how to move, so you must've learned a Dao Art of high complexity..."
Shade of Autumn dismissed her thoughts with a sigh.
"We will not worry about that for now. Instead, we'll look at the bright side; your skill in drawing Dao Arts is much greater than most. You should be able to increase your Clarity of Height of Blossom quickly."
"Yes... I suppose that is good."
Sun felt a subtle hint of joy.
'I do not have to worry about losing time when familiarising myself with this Dao Art. With this, I can focus more on increasing my battle strength...!'
...
The remaining four hours of the convoy's resting period came to an end.
Orders to prepare for travel rang through everyone's minds, and they heeded with haste.
Horses and Oxen began to pull the carriages once again, and the convoy proceeded forward through Thin Stream Valley.
Their next destination was Blue Grass Mountain, a three-night-long journey.
The first night was mild.
A group of Flower Draped Monkeys had swung by, bringing the convoy to a halt, waiting for the beast group to pass.
No conflict arose from this encounter; however, another impass had occurred soon after.
A landslide had suddenly fallen down a nearby slope; the rain had eroded the soil and caused a large amount of debris to fall.
While it was mostly defended, two carriages could not escape the destruction and were broken as a result.
The people within, however, were not seriously injured and were tended to immediately and placed into other carriages.
After clearing the rubble, the convoy moved on.
...
Late Hour.
It was at this time that the convoy's movement hastened.
"The Third Tide should have arrived at Corpse Mountain by now. We do not know how of their vigour or direction, so we will remain vigilant and anticipate any unexpected encounters."
"Indeed, I will send these orders out. Lord, please that our path remains effective and true. Should we need to make any adjustments, just let me know."
Corpse Mountain's Settlement Lord nodded while Warrior of Spring sent out a notice to the rest of the convoy.
They continued to converse among themselves.
"As long as we can reach Blue Grass Mountain, we can fortify our position and remain safe from the Third Tide's reach."
"If the time demands it, we can dispose of our wares... I suppose the common crops will be the least valuable, then our meats and hides, then the luxurious crops, and then our most valuable resources."
"Those bones and Qi Conglomerates will provide us with an ample foundation to work upon. We can quickly establish connections through trade, and hopefully bring us more support for the convening of the Settlements."
Warrior of Sping considered those words and decided to bring the convoy to a halt in order to prepare for the tide.
People were moved to the frontmost carriages, while wares and resources were moved to the backmost, in order of their value.
Once again, Warrior of Spring made no delay in whipping the convoy back into motion.
The carriages were pulled through the dim light of Late Hour.
...
At roughly the same time...
The rain gradually became heavier and heavier, turning the soil to mud.
Crimson mud was trampled under a myriad of different paws of a myriad of different beasts.
Resounding through the air were the heavy pita pat of the beasts, like the low drums of war.
The world was already dim, but a great shadow was cast over the lands.
A long, slender body churned through the air; its sickly appearance was terrifying. It seemed to command an air of authority around's large body.
The figures stood on the head of the beast. Their robes remained unbothered by the winds and rain.
"It was as expected... Those fools have left, they should have left the first time we arrived... Then, we wouldn't have to trouble ourselves by waiting."
"All is fine. We were able to gain the mountain without too much trouble, right?"
"Yes... Yes... that is correct..."
Sat upon the head of the massive beast was a sickly hooded figure.
"You must be starved, oh, so starved. Worry not, your meal is just before us...!"
Speaking the beast, it opened its maw slightly and released a low, contented growl.
"This Bone Devouring Dragon should be able to finish the corpse, right?"
"Yes... It can. In a few dozen nights... it will be done...!"
The sickly figure laughed hoarsely. The other figure, standing behind the former, held his arms behind his back.
His expectant gaze fell on the crimson mountain beneath them.
While the mountain bore an odd shape, besides its crimson soil, it was no different from an ordinary mountain.
There were lingering traces of snow that was conjured by a sudden winter storm.
"Within the mountain, a great carcass... a great corpse slumbers...!"
"Indeed... one that is never seen twice in a single period, if not in a few periods... A beast that is no different than the most dire tribulations."
As the Bone Devouring Dragon coiled in the air, the two figures looked up at the deserted Settlement.
There was a heavy greed in their eyes, and great expectations for what hides within the mountain.
The sickly figure bore a twisted smile, chuckling gleefully to himself.
The other figure merely raised a hand, splayed open his fingers, and faced his palm towards the Settlement.
