Not because he wanted or desired her in any way. But it was entertaining watching them both struggle, doubt, and hurt each other.
Ever since she was still just a random human, feeling lost in her own world, he made her unlikable as much as possible and structured her life to be so miserable till the point of them meeting, so the vampire king would fall for his little device and bring her to him for his possession.
