Chapter 5 - First Kill

Alex slammed the goblin on the ground. At the same time, the goblin tried to stab him, but because of the sudden contact, the goblin missed.

The unathletic teenager also fell to the ground, because he wasn't used to this kind of activity.

Quickly regaining his footing, the boy stood up. He looked around, trying to find something.

Looking around, the boy found what he was looking for, the dagger. The dagger was right next to the goblin, who grunted because of the pain.

Alex quickly went forward, grabbing the dagger and raising his hand. The goblin, however, was ready.

Before Alex could stab the goblin, the goblin kicked Alex away as he got closer.

The boy fell to the ground, again, dropping the dagger which landed several meters away from him.

The goblin swiftly stood up and went for the dagger. Alex also didn't miss his chance to get up.

Both contenders had a stare down. When Alex moved a bit, the goblin twitched, and when the goblin moved, Alex twitched.

'Shit, shit, shit! What should I do?'

Sweat was rolling down from Alex's forehead. Taking a deep breath in, he ran to a column, the goblin running after him.

Reaching a column, Alex stood there with half his body behind the column and the other half being in the open.

Alex watched the goblin, which was now slowly moving towards him. As soon as the goblin began to sprint toward him, Alex began to move around the column.

He was walking backwards around the column, as long as he saw the goblin. If he didn't see it, he would stop and look around.

After a while the Goblin noticed that it was going to lose energy without achieving anything, so it stopped.

Alex also stopped, he was already panting, having done no other sport than the school sport, his body was extremely unfit.

The green creature had an idea, which it stole from its prey. It picked up a rock from the ground and threw it behind Alex.

Alex, hearing something from behind, turned around. Looking behind him, he saw nothing.

Realising what just happened, he turned around again, panic visible on his face.

Now facing the original direction again, Alex saw nothing again; But his ears picked up several steps behind him, thus he sprinted away.

"Hahahahahahahahahaha!" Alex heard from behind.

Even though he was tired and his heart beating faster than he thought was possible, Alex ran.

He was surprised that he still could run. Deciding that staying in the circular space was not helpful, he went back inside the tunnel running back to were he initially woke up.

"Hahahahahahahah." Alex could only hear the Goblin laugh behind him.

After sprinting like his life depended on that, because it did, Alex suddenly tripped and he face planted into the ground.

"Fuuuck…" Alex said involuntarily in pain.

Before he got up, he looked behind him seeing the goblin with a disgusting grin getting closer.

The boy, who now was on his knees, kicked back. His kick connected with the goblin,s face.

The goblin dropped its dagger, but it only tumbled a bit. Now growling the goblin jumped onto Alex, turning the child around on his back.

Before Alex could do anything, the goblin began to place both of its dirty hands on Alex's throat, choking him.

'Fuck. Fuck'

Alex tried to shake the goblin off of him, to no avail.

'Please get off! Fast!'

Alex tried and tried and tried, but he failed. He began to try punch the goblin, but he couldn't generate enough force to hurt the green monster.

The goblins face turned from a scowl to a cocky grin.

Alex feeling the pressure release a bit from his throat, felt hopeful.

'I can breath again, damn beast! Come one release it a bit more. Come on.'

Moving his legs more to see if he can do anything, He suddenly felt something with his left foot.

He could feel the dagger which the goblin dropped after he kicked it in the face.

Alex began to grin without realising it, the goblin noticed the sudden shift in emotions and began to press harder again.

"Hahahahahaha" the goblin let out.

Feeling the pressure again Alex's heart began to beat faster.

After Alex's worthless struggle, his vision began to fade.

'Shit. My vision. I don't want to die, please. Please.'

Tears began to form in his eyes.

'Dad, help me.' Alex called out in his mind, closing his eyes.

The goblin leaned in closer grinning, it licked the tears which began to roll down on Alex's cheeks.

Alex, feeling the disgustingly long and warm tongue of the Goblin, opened his eyes.

With his blurry vision he could only make out the outline of the goblin. After seeing the outline of the goblins pointy ears, remembered something.

He remembered the weakness of goblins, the ears which are sensitive to the sense of touch and the thinner skin at the throat erea.

Suddenly Alex grabbed the goblins right ear with his left hand, taking the goblin by surprise. He then pulled the ear to which the goblin shrieked and fell.

The User, not letting go off the ear, quickly went up grabbed the dagger and began to stab the goblin ruthlessly.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahh" Alex screamed.

He first stabbed it's throat, dark purple liquid flowing from the wound, Alex however didn't stop he than began to stab at the goblins side.

At first the goblin tried to move, but after some time it stopped, the only time it moved was after Alex stabbed it.

Stopping after some time Alex began to pant. Looking at the goblins motionless body, Alex began to fell sick.

He wanted to look away, but he couldn't. He was sitting in a puddle made up of the goblins warm purple blood.

Taking a closer look he saw that dark substance began to stick out of the body, he could only assume that it was the humanoid monster's organs.

After seeing an organ stick out, Alex looked at his bloody hands, dropping the dagger.

Suddenly feeling something rise up from his stomach, he closed his mouth suppressing the feeling to vomit.

After several seconds of calming down, realisation hit him.

'I killed it. I killed another creature'

Tears were forming again; Alex closed his mouth again, not because he wanted to womit, no. He closed his mouth out of shock.

He couldn't believe it. He killed something which resembled a human.

Interrupting him something appeared in front of him.

[Congratulations]

[You conquered your first challenge, without sustaining any great injuries]

Alex looked at the message with no joy, no surprise.

"When can I get home, you stupid system?"

Clicking further a new message appeared.

Seeing the message with a new skill Alex immediately opened his Status, also noticing his level being now five, not four.

'Woah it really is there.'

Swallowing all the saliva in his mouth, Alex clicked on his only active skill.

——————————————

Subdimensional Space ★☆☆☆☆

The User owns a small pocket dimension which they can acces through thinking while trying to grab something from the air.

Leveling up the skill increases the volume of the usable space.

——————————————

'How cool!'

Alex closed all of the tabs infront of him except the one where the remaining time was standing.

Trying to test his new skill, Alex looked at the dagger which was lying inside the puddle of blood.

'It was self defence, Alex. Nothing more. Self defence.'

After convincing himself Alex took the dagger. Thinking about his skill, his whole hand vanished, but he could still feel it holding the dagger.

Closing his skill his hand returned with the dagger.

"What!"

'Why did nothing happen?'

Activating the his only skill again, his hand vanished again. Now however, Alex led the dagger go.

After closing his skill his hand returned without the dagger.

"Yes!" Alex shouted closing his fist in excitement.

He activated the skill again and now it mentally felt like he knew that the dagger was there, like even if he didn't know before he would know it by now.

He grabbed the dagger and now it was there again, still full of blood.

Alex repeated this process several times more, even looking for his belongings but they weren't there.

He left the tunnel and went to the space were he was at the beginning of the challenge.

The boy waited for the remaining time and once the timer hit zero his vision faded away like before.
