His heart pounded nervously as a single thought flashed in his mind, 'could it be?' and he hurriedly sprang to his feet, startling Anne, who wasn't expecting such a move.
"Husband_" she called out nervously as she rose to her feet, but Jack cut her off as he said to her, "Wife, sit there and don't move. Let me check what's going on. Remember, no matter what these people ask, just leave everything to me. Can you do that?"
Hearing his stern tone, Anne nodded, agreeing with her husband. She didn't know what was happening, but thinking about some things from many years ago, she decided to follow her husband's order. With that in mind, she sat back on the couch and nervously watched as Jack walked towards the door.
As he went there, her mind started thinking about many possibilities.
'Could it be that Gloria reported us to the police? Are they here to arrest us because of that?' That was the only thing that she could think about that could make her husband panic.
