Following the Arrancar-induced Hollow surge in Rukongai, Soul Society returned to its usual tranquility.
Kenpachi Kiganjō's death in the incident left the Eleventh Division without a captain, and Yusuke's suggestion at the Captain's meeting—that at least two captains should face each Arrancar—was widely circulated.
The Gotei 13 Shinigami attributed Kenpachi Kiganjō's death to his overconfidence, believing that heeding Yusuke's advice would have prevented the tragedy.
Gin Ichimaru's solo defeat of an Arrancar revealed him to be a formidable, previously underestimated captain.
Byakuya Kuchiki and Suì-Fēng, though fighting together, each individually defeated an Arrancar, showcasing their considerable strength.
Komamura Sajin and Tōsen Kaname, who only managed to defeat an Arrancar through combined efforts, appeared comparatively weaker.

Yusuke, meanwhile, focused his attention on Kurotsuchi Mayuri's experiments. Time, fleeting for long-lived Shinigami, saw the completion of the Hōgyoku2 and the Shinigami-Hollowfication enhancements.
The perfected Hōgyoku2, while still inferior to the Hōgyoku, no longer suffered from spiritual energy depletion and disintegration. Data from previous experiments had optimized its abilities, perfectly aligning them with the Arrancar's power.
With the Hōgyoku2 integrated, Yusuke's Espada all gained access to a second Resurrección, and Ulquiorra Cifer, already possessing a second Resurrección, achieved a third.
In Yusuke's estimation, excluding himself, Aizen, and Yamamoto Genryūsai, the Espada were now more than capable of overwhelming the Gotei 13 captains.
Decades later, another "Espada Tournament" was held. The Espada rankings shifted.

Beyond the Espada's growth, Yusuke's Shinigami forces also underwent significant strengthening.
The widespread adoption of Hollowfication granted the Espada Shinigami a power rivaling Zanpakutō release.
Yusuke himself, however, did not utilize Hollowfication. He believed the optimal material for Shinigami Hollowfication was "Vizard White," created by Aizen using Shinigami souls.
Within the Kamui space, Yomei Kagawa reported Aizen's latest plan, the one Yusuke had eagerly awaited.
"Yusuke-sama, Aizen has completed Vizard White and plans to test it in the Human World.
The target for testing Vizard White's power is Captain Shiba Isshin, currently stationed in Karakura Town," Yomei Kagawa reported.
Yusuke's eyes lit up. "It's about time. Unless something crucial arises, don't contact me. Simply send a signal via the cursed crow mark before Aizen acts."
The closer to the operation, the more cautious Aizen would become.
Yusuke feared that frequent contact from Yomei Kagawa might arouse suspicion.
Yomei Kagawa nodded. He then asked, "Will I be needed for this operation?"
Yusuke smiled. "Not yet. But rest assured, your time will come soon enough."
For Yusuke, Vizard White was a crucial objective. No one, not even its creator, Aizen, fully understood its potential.
Meanwhile, Shiba Isshin, completely unaware of the plot swirling around him, diligently patrolled Karakura Town.
Karakura Town held significant importance for Soul Society, possessing a high concentration of spiritual energy despite its location in the Human World.
This attracted many Shinigami who had defected to the Human World, as well as Hollows seeking to evolve through consumption.
While Karakura Town had a high Hollow concentration, Shiba Isshin wouldn't normally be stationed there long-term. His extended stay was due to the Gotei 13's pursuit of Kisuke Urahara.
He strolled leisurely, unseen by the Human World inhabitants.
Aizen, hidden in the shadows, observed Shiba Isshin.
"It's time. Release the Hollows!"
Behind Aizen stood Yomei Kagawa and Tōsen Kaname, the current Ninth Division Captain.
They wore black cloaks, capable of completely concealing spiritual pressure, invented by Kisuke Urahara.
After Aizen took over the Technical Development Bureau, he acquired much of Urahara's research, including these cloaks.
At Aizen's command, Yomei Kagawa activated the Anti-Membrane Thief. A dimensional rift opened, unleashing dozens of frenzied Hollows, scattering in all directions.
