The moment the light spear descended, engulfing the entire armored transport ship in a pillar of light that reached from earth to sky, an enormous energy impact erupted instantaneously.
"Wait—"
La Folia realized something was wrong and tried to call out, but it was already too late.
BOOM!!!!
Like the pure physical devastation of a kinetic orbital weapon unleashing world-ending force upon impact, the deafening roar shook the island. The explosive shockwave formed gale-force winds capable of blowing away mountains, spreading violently in all directions from the light spear's impact point.
First in line for destruction would be this small island, and... the beachfront villa where they currently stood.
Yet the expected outcome of "point-blank nuclear launch killing enemies while taking yourself out too" never arrived.
A defensive barrier instantly rose at the island's edge, colliding with the incoming blast wave with virtually zero time differential.
Not a single tremor.
It was truly a shocking sight—like watching a nuclear explosion at point-blank range.
The seemingly thin, ethereal barrier membrane not only remained completely unshaken by the light spear's shockwave, but even muffled the tremendous sound completely.
As if the barrier had utterly rejected everything.
All the impact force either reflected or refracted along the barrier's edge, raising tsunami-like waves around the island reminiscent of Whitebeard's twin punches during the Summit War in One Piece.
When the explosion's energy finally dissipated completely, La Folia couldn't help but gape at the scene before her.
"This..."
The sight that met her eyes showed all seawater within a kilometer radius of the island completely withdrawn, exposing the rugged seabed beneath.
In the extreme distance, barely visible even straining her eyes, hundred-meter waves continued retreating, though their speed had gradually slowed.
Surely when their momentum finally expired, what would follow would be an unprecedented tidal surge.
Not that it mattered to those within the barrier.
"B-Bokue, Princess La Folia?! Are you there? I just heard a huge noise..."
Just as Bokue fixed the barrier in place and prepared to close the window and let things be, the bathroom door suddenly burst open from inside. Along with a certain War Dancer girl's somewhat panicked voice, Sayaka Kirasaka rushed out wielding her Bow, wearing nothing but a towel.
Oh no, you couldn't even call it "wearing."
Unlike La Folia who at least wrapped the towel around her body and secured it to prevent slippage, Sayaka's towel was simply being used as a makeshift covering, pressed against her chest with one hand and barely hanging on, just managing to cover the important parts from the front.
Even so, those beautiful curves were clearly visible from the sides.
Considerably larger than Yukina's...
Bokue thought to himself as he gestured vaguely toward the window with his thumb.
"It's nothing, just some uninvited guests."
"Eh? Uninvited guests?"
Still probably processing the massive sound from the light spear's impact, Sayaka hadn't even realized how enticing her current state was. She quickly came to the window, squeezing between the two of them, setting down her Bow to open the window.
The slightly salty sea breeze gently wafted into the room. Without light reflecting off the window glass to obstruct their view, even at night the beach scene outside was vaguely visible.
In just a dozen seconds or so, the seawater that had been pushed back a kilometer was now counterattacking, forming hundred-meter tsunamis surging forward like a tide. In the blink of an eye, only the final hundred meters remained between the waves and the island.
!!
Though completely unable to comprehend what was happening, survival instinct made Sayaka reflexively try to close the window.
As if that could somehow defend against a tsunami capable of swallowing an entire city.
But Bokue stopped her.
"Ah, relax, it won't drown you."
Eh?
The War Dancer girl hadn't processed this yet, but the next second the towering waves were already upon them...
Then unsurprisingly crashed against the raised barrier membrane, like hitting an unbreakable wall. Looking out from inside, the barrier didn't even wobble despite taking such an impact.
It actually... blocked it?
Sayaka's mouth fell open in surprise, showing an expression nearly identical to La Folia's earlier.
It was a peculiar feeling. When the massive volume of seawater hit the barrier and was blocked outside, it could only churn dramatically back and forth with various seafood, fish, and shells inside.
Almost like being in an underwater aquarium.
Just with slightly dirtier water...
"Bit of a coincidence, actually."
Bokue spread his hands.
"Apparently a squad of magical mechanical soldiers who'd previously attacked La Folia's royal yacht found this island, arriving in an armored transport ship. I took the lazy approach and just vaporized them all—ship and soldiers together. Accidentally used a bit too much force though."
This probably couldn't be explained away as just "a bit too much force"...
The silver-haired princess thought to herself.
"A boatload of magical mechanical soldiers came to this island?"
A War Dancer was still a War Dancer after all. Sayaka—who'd been absorbed in the shocking scene a second ago—immediately reacted to the keywords, her expression quickly turning serious.
"I see. But if magical mechanical soldiers appeared, and according to you, Bokue, there was only one armored transport ship, this was probably just an advance team. There's likely a larger force coming."
"Oh."
Bokue picked at his ear.
"Then let them come."
"In that case, to be safe, I'll take the night watch—"
"No need for a night watch."
Before Sayaka could finish, Bokue interrupted her, casually pointing at the barrier membrane outside.
"Even if they find this place, they can't get through the barrier anyway."
"..."
Sayaka froze in place, blinking somewhat adorably.
Huh? That actually made sense?
After all, it had blocked that massive tsunami. While magical mechanical soldiers could demonstrate Terminator-like combat power when fully armed, they were ultimately just cannon fodder on a true battlefield of gods and demons.
Besides, even a certain vampire noble who supposedly rivaled True Ancestors had been ground into the dirt by Bokue. At this power level, no amount of magical mechanical soldiers would matter—they'd just be feeding kills.
The kind that didn't even give experience points.
Thinking about it that way, there really was nothing to worry about.
"Anyway, you should all rest properly tonight. No need to worry about anything."
Bokue shrugged.
"So returning to our earlier topic, tonight Sayaka, you'll share a room with La Folia—"
"No!"
Before he could finish, Sayaka decisively refused.
Hmm?
Bokue looked at her questioningly, only to see the War Dancer girl's cheeks flushing as she unconsciously turned her face away.
"I-if I share a room with Princess La Folia, then no one will be supervising you..."
Back to supervising again?
