Chapter 166 - Chapter 165: Think You're the Only One Who Can Fly?

"Take this!"

Fujino pivoted, the bokken in his hand striking straight for Kuroba Kaito's head.

"Thwack!"

Unable to dodge in time, the bokken connected with Kuroba Kaito's forehead. He promptly tumbled off the bronze statue, crashing onto the stone floor below.

Almost landing face-first.

"Kaito Kid's balloon popped!"

"Kaito Kid subdued by Fujino with a wooden sword!"

"Will Kaito Kid finally be arrested by Detective Fujino tonight?!"

"Let's wait and see!"

The female reporter nearby continued her commentary tirelessly,

clearly thrilled.

Kaito Kid shot a glance at the reporter,

annoyed.

Subdued?

He just fell off the bronze statue, okay?

"What's the deal with this guy? How does he show up every single time I make a move?"

Kuroba Kaito slowly stood up, brushing off his pristine white suit, his gaze fixed on Fujino standing atop the statue. "Could this guy be stalking me?"

But before he could figure it out, Fujino on the statue gave him no time to think.

The bokken raised high, he leaped down from the bronze statue,

aiming for Kuroba Kaito's head once more.

Naturally, Kuroba Kaito wouldn't just stand there. With a flick of his cape, he tossed out two small canisters.

The canisters suddenly emitted thick smoke, quickly engulfing the entire museum hall.

"Cough cough!"

Fujino, being closest to the smoke, inhaled it first.

He felt a wave of dizziness, followed by a sense of weakness spreading through his body.

"It's sleeping gas!"

Fujino immediately realized something was wrong. Holding his breath, he struck his own arm with the bokken.

The sharp pain instantly cleared the temporary dizziness.

However, the others, unaware it was sleeping gas, weren't so lucky.

Within a few breaths, they all collapsed, unconscious.

"Crash!"

Suddenly, the dome ceiling above shattered.

Kuroba Kaito, holding a suction cup gun and wearing a gas mask, was pulled upwards towards the dome by the device.

Turning back, he even struck a pose at Fujino, taunting, "Bye-bye now, great detective!"

"Tsk."

Watching the ascending Kuroba Kaito, Fujino clicked his tongue.

He glanced aside.

The female reporter and cameraman were already unconscious, sleeping like babies on the floor.

The camera had slipped from the cameraman's hand, its lens hitting the ground.

"You think you're the only one who can fly?"

Seeing this, a meaningful smile spread across Fujino's lips.

He took the Grappling Hook from his coat pocket and aimed at the steel framework of the dome.

He was hesitant to use the Grappling Hook openly in front of the camera.

After all, this was equipment used by his Batman persona.

If some detail-oriented fans noticed, there was a risk of his identity being exposed.

But since the camera was now facing the floor, and the sleeping gas provided cover...

Prepare to accept the judgment of the bokken!

"Kaito Kid!"

Fujino pulled the trigger.

The grappling hook shot rapidly towards the dome, wrapped around the steel frame, and then he zipped up in pursuit of Kuroba Kaito.

"Huh?"

Kuroba Kaito, hearing the sound, turned back in surprise, only to see Fujino holding a grappling gun in his left hand and clutching a bokken in his right, rushing towards him.

The detective is still chasing me!

Damn it!

On the museum rooftop.

"Kaito Kid, surrender now!"

Fujino held the bokken, pointing it at Kuroba Kaito.

"Let me give you a couple of taps with the bokken quietly, and maybe, just maybe, I'll let you go."

That blow earlier – a normal person would likely have been knocked out cold.

Yet this Kuroba Kaito fellow merely fell off the statue and stood up again as if nothing happened.

However, this was within Fujino's expectations.

The Okamoto 0.01 was obtained from the system after completing his first task post-transmigration.

Besides its incredible hardness, it had the characteristic of not causing physical injury but inflicting pain and some negative status effects.

This trait was a double-edged sword.

Not causing injury avoided many unnecessary complications; after all, hitting someone unconscious with his full strength might cave their skull in.

The bokken knocked people out mainly through the pain stimulus hitting the head, overwhelming the brain and causing unconsciousness.

The drawback was also obvious.

Against someone with strong willpower, two or three hits might not be enough to knock them out.

Though, so far, Fujino hadn't encountered anyone with that level of willpower.

Kuroba Kaito was the first.

He wanted to see just how many hits this guy could take before passing out.

"Getting hit by you would probably kill me!"

Kuroba Kaito felt utterly speechless.

This guy actually wanted him to stand still and take two hits?

Recalling Fujino shattering a toilet bowl with one blow last time, and his recent leap of two or three meters, he felt a wave of terror.

The toilet bowl got obliterated.

He didn't think his skull was harder than a toilet bowl.

As for letting him go...

He wasn't even sure he'd be alive after two hits.

Could this guy be trying to kill him?

"Hahahaha!"

Just then, wild laughter echoed from behind.

Kuroba Kaito looked as if he'd seen something terrifying and froze rigid.

Fujino frowned, turned around, and was also momentarily stunned.

Behind him, a dark figure hung suspended in mid-air by golden spider webs.

Three points of light flickered on the figure's face, and its entire body was enveloped in a dense black fog, appearing exceptionally bizarre.

"Welcome to my domain! I shall descend into both of your nightmares!"

The dark figure uttered a resonant whisper. The three red dots on its face began to glow brilliantly.

As soon as the man finished speaking, the surrounding world instantly underwent a dramatic transformation.

With a gust of wind that swept everything away, the deep night sky suddenly turned crimson.

Fujino blinked. Then, the rooftop scenery morphed into a dark alley.

Within the alley, a dark figure wielded a sharp sword, slashing downwards.

With each swing of the figure's sword, splashes of blood bloomed beneath it.

The figure turned around, completely pitch black.

Instantly, Fujino shuddered. A wave of weakness washed over him, and a deep-seated fear began to spread throughout his body.

The dark figure let out a low murmur and slowly stood up.

Fujino watched the figure, his brow furrowed tightly.

An inexplicable fear now consumed his body, yet his mind remained extraordinarily calm, clearer than ever before.

But before he could react, the dark figure raised its sharp sword and charged directly towards him.
