Lena stared at the contact displayed on her smartphone.
Rin.
Her thumb hovered over his name.
If she pressed it, she would hear his voice immediately.
Such a simple thing.
Yet for some reason, it felt incredibly difficult.

Lena flopped backward onto her bed and stared at the ceiling.
Ever since the incident, she had been confined to her apartment under the excuse of "recovery."
Officially, it was a mandatory observation period.
Unofficially, it felt like house arrest.
Her friend and superior had practically threatened her not to leave the apartment until every examination result came back.
Considering she had been brainwashed by an enemy relic, it wasn't exactly unreasonable.
She understood that.
That didn't mean she liked it.
It had only been one day.
Just one day since she had last seen him.
One day since she had heard his voice.
One day since she had felt safe.
And somehow...
She missed him terribly.
