Nora tilted her head.
The smile never left her face.

A pause.
Then her gaze landed on me.

"I heard something very interesting."

"About romance."
Ryan immediately looked away.
Leo suddenly became fascinated by his coffee.
Traitors.
Cowards.
Abandoning me at the first sign of danger.
Nora folded her hands behind her back.
Her smile somehow became even brighter.
"Why don't we all sit down and discuss it together?"
The three of us stared at Nora.
Nora stared back.
Still smiling.
That smile was the problem. People always said a smiling person was less scary than an angry one. Those people had clearly never met Nora.
The silence stretched, thick and suffocating. Ryan looked like a criminal awaiting sentencing, shifting uncomfortably in his seat, while Leo had somehow become even more intensely interested in the steam rising from his coffee.
