Chapter 359: Hunting Spirit Fish and the Three Treasures of the Heavenly Dao Sect
"You just said that unless it's a one hit kill, it's almost impossible to catch these Spirit Fish, right?"
Within the ancient secret realm, at the Sacred Spirit Peak and Sacred Spirit Pool, Ling'er listened carefully to Fatty Wa's explanation.
"Correct," Fatty Wa replied with a nod. "Unless you can match their speed, catching them is nearly impossible. However, Spirit Fish have an extraordinary bloodline. To match their speed, you'd need to be a Heaven Supreme. Here in the Sacred Spirit Pool, Spirit Fish can achieve speeds comparable to that level. The simplest and most direct method is to seize an opportunity and finish them with one strike."
Although it was Fatty Wa's first visit to the Sacred Spirit Peak, the Heavenly Dao Sect's library contained extensive records left by elders and the sect master. After spending thousands of years idle, Fatty Wa had read most of these texts, making him quite knowledgeable about the creatures and phenomena within the Heavenly Dao Sect's domain.
Hearing this, Ling'er's lips curled into a sly smile. "I understand now."
She glanced at Xiao Tiance, who was deeply immersed in absorbing the pool's spiritual energy, then raised her hands. With precise movements, she began forming a spiritual array.
Fatty Wa, noticing her actions, immediately voiced his doubts. "Didn't I just say that arrays are ineffective against Spirit Fish? They can't be trapped by formations."
Ling'er ignored him. With a wave of her hand, a mysterious and ancient array rose into the air, rotating gracefully above the Sacred Spirit Pool.
As realization dawned on Fatty Wa, he murmured to himself, "She's clever… While arrays can't directly trap Spirit Fish, the shockwaves produced when the array is triggered are unavoidable for them. By using this shockwave to force the Spirit Fish out of the water and into the air, she can strike them down before they return to the pool. Brilliant move. This little girl is much smarter than I thought."
Fatty Wa couldn't help but observe Ling'er with newfound curiosity. "What kind of being is she? I've never heard of a race like hers. She's so small, like a doll, yet she's capable of creating Grandmaster level arrays?"
The Hunt Begins
Ling'er activated the array she had set up, sending a powerful shockwave rippling through the water. In an instant, hundreds of Spirit Fish were flung into the air, resembling fish being blasted out of water by an underwater explosion.
"Ice Needles, rise!"
Ling'er shouted, and the array hovering above the pool sprang into action. Thousands of icy needles materialized, their sharp points glinting with a deadly chill.
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"
The icy needles rained down, piercing through the Spirit Fish with precision. Despite their astonishing speed, Spirit Fish had a critical weakness their defenses were exceptionally weak. The icy needles, though only strong enough to injure a Sovereign at the fifth or sixth grade, could easily puncture Spirit Fish with auras comparable to eighth or ninth grade Sovereigns.
Ling'er beamed with satisfaction as she quickly collected the faint golden blood spilling from the slain fish. She directed it all onto Xiao Tiance's body, then carefully stored the lifeless fish in her storage ring.
In this one attempt, she managed to harvest over a hundred Spirit Fish.
Of course, not all were caught. Many fish evaded the icy barrage or returned to the water despite being injured, disappearing almost instantly. Still, the harvest was significant, leaving Fatty Wa in stunned silence.
"Has there ever been a record in the Heavenly Dao Sect of anyone catching this many Spirit Fish in one go?" Fatty Wa muttered in disbelief.
Ling'er continued draining the fish of their blood and covering Xiao Tiance in it. His body was now entirely enveloped in the golden liquid, as if encased in a radiant cocoon.
This infusion had remarkable effects. As Xiao Tiance absorbed the golden blood, his physical strength increased at an incredible pace.
"Buzz!"
A wave of energy rippled from his body, and Ling'er's eyes lit up with excitement. "The spiritual array within Mister Xiao's body has also broken through to the Grandmaster level! Amazing! With his physical strength now, even without being a Heaven Supreme, he could fight one head on!"
Fatty Wa also observed this transformation. He was well acquainted with the two arrays inscribed in Xiao Tiance's flesh, similar to those once possessed by the Heavenly Dao Sect's sect master. These arrays had now firmly reached the Grandmaster level, though they were only in the initial stages.
"Impressive. He's already able to contend with a Lesser Heaven Supreme. If these arrays advance further, they might even reach the level of the sect master's arrays, which could rival Saint Heaven Supremes. His potential is extraordinary," Fatty Wa thought to himself.
A Strategic Pause
Just as Ling'er prepared to resume hunting Spirit Fish, Fatty Wa interjected.
"Wait."
Ling'er turned to him, puzzled. "What is it?"
"There's no need to kill any more. These Spirit Fish have other uses. When he establishes his superpower in the future, these Spirit Fish could be a significant asset."
"Wait… You're saying we can take them with us?" Ling'er's eyes lit up, her mood instantly brightened.
She had been hunting the fish primarily for Xiao Tiance's benefit, but also because she believed the impending collapse of the secret realm would result in their destruction. If they could be preserved, this changed everything.
"Of course," Fatty Wa said with a grin. "With the right preparations, it's entirely possible to bring them out. The Sacred Spirit Pool, the Spirit Fish, and everything else of value in this realm all of it can become part of his legacy."
Ling'er's heart raced with excitement at the possibilities. "Then let's prepare!"
"That's right. I left earlier to find a way to relocate the entire Sacred Spirit Peak. Fortunately, the heavens favored me and perhaps it's not yet time for these Spirit Fish to meet their end because I succeeded in finding a method," Fatty Wa said as he revealed a gleaming artifact in his hand.
The artifact resembled the pure jade vase often depicted in Avalokiteshvara's hands, radiating a gentle yet profound aura. He continued explaining, "This is the Heavenly Dao Glazed Bottle, second only to the Heavenly Dao Mirror among the treasures of the Heavenly Dao Sect. It's a quasi supreme artifact, capable of containing an entire small continent and even living beings. Once he completes his breakthrough, we'll use it to relocate the entire Sacred Spirit Peak. When he establishes his superpower in the future, it can be released as part of his foundation."
Ling'er's eyes sparkled with joy. "Amazing! I didn't expect such a treasure to still exist after tens of thousands of years and to remain undiscovered!"
Fatty Wa chuckled smugly. "It's not just any treasure; it's quasi supreme and sentient. Such artifacts aren't easily found. If I hadn't searched for it personally, it would have vanished alongside this collapsing space."
Ling'er beamed, her enthusiasm bubbling over. Anything beneficial to Xiao Tiance was something she eagerly supported. Her gaze shifted to the Heavenly Dao Glazed Bottle, a trace of longing flickering in her eyes.
"Fatty Wa, may I have a closer look at it?" she asked curiously.
"Of course, but only look don't try to activate it. Otherwise, we'll be in serious trouble. Currently, I'm the only one in the secret realm who knows how to control this artifact. If it activates prematurely, it might draw us inside, leaving us with no way out." Fatty Wa handed the bottle to her, caution evident in his tone.
Ling'er marveled at the bottle's crystalline clarity, sensing the immense power emanating from it. She felt a peculiar sense of oppression, like the gaze of an unfathomable abyss watching her.
Rather than touching it, Ling'er examined the artifact intently. After a moment, she tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. "Fatty Wa, why does the aura of this bottle feel so similar to yours? And it also resembles the aura of the Heavenly Dao Mirror that Mister Xiao holds."
Fatty Wa froze for a moment, startled. He had deliberately concealed his presence, confident that only a Heaven Supreme or stronger could detect his aura. Yet this tiny, doll like girl had seen through him.
"Why? Is it a secret you can't share?" Ling'er asked, her innocent gaze fixated on him.
"It's not that I can't tell you," Fatty Wa replied after a pause, "but if I reveal my secret, you'll have to answer some of my questions too."
Ling'er thought for a moment, then nodded. "Of course. Since we're both following Mister Xiao, it's only right to exchange knowledge."
Fatty Wa smiled in satisfaction. **"Very well then. The Heavenly Dao Mirror, the Heavenly Dao Glazed Bottle, and myself the Heavenly Dao Tower are collectively known as the Three Treasures of the Heavenly Dao Sect. We were crafted during the sect's golden era by one of the greatest artifact forgers in the Great Thousand World.
We share the same origin, which is why you sense similarities in our auras. Among the three, the Heavenly Dao Mirror was forged perfectly, reaching the level of a supreme artifact and becoming one of the most powerful offensive artifacts in the Great Thousand World.
The Glazed Bottle and I, however, lacked certain key materials during our forging and were thus classified as quasi supreme artifacts. The Heavenly Dao Mirror became the sect's symbol, the Glazed Bottle a safeguard for future calamities, and I was designated as the storage for all the sect's treasures.
Unfortunately, during the invasion of the extraterrestrial demon clan, the sect master didn't have time to activate the Glazed Bottle, leading to the sect's ultimate downfall. The bottle was sealed on Sacred Spirit Peak, while I, newly awakened as a spirit, managed to conceal myself in the Abyss and avoid destruction."**
Fatty Wa paused, his voice tinged with regret. "I remained hidden because I could still sense the lingering aura of the demon clan, mistakenly believing they hadn't left. It wasn't until I encountered him [Xiao Tiance] that my journey took a new turn. The rest, you already know."
Ling'er listened intently, understanding dawning in her expression. "So that's why you could locate the Heavenly Dao Glazed Bottle so easily it's because you share the same origin."
Fatty Wa nodded. "Exactly. As long as I'm nearby, I can sense the presence of the other treasures. Now, I've answered your question. It's your turn what exactly are you? I've never seen any record of a being like you in the Heavenly Dao Sect's archives."
Ling'er considered briefly before replying, **"I am the spirit of a plane, the embodiment of the Dou Qi Continent. I'm not part of the Great Thousand World but originate from the plane below it. You can call me a Plane Spirit.
The Dou Qi Continent gave rise to countless powerful beings, but they drained much of my source energy, leaving me weak. When I encountered Mister Xiao, I chose to form a soul contract with him. By hiding within him, I escaped detection by the Plane Spirit of the Great Thousand World.
Now, I've begun absorbing some of the Great Thousand World's source energy, so I'm no longer in danger."**
Fatty Wa's eyes widened in astonishment. **"A Plane Spirit? That explains everything. No wonder there are no records of your kind in the Heavenly Dao Sect. You're not from this world!
I've heard of the Plane Spirit of the Great Thousand World it's tied to the Heavenly Rankings. However, no one has ever deciphered its mysteries, let alone left any record of a Plane Spirit's existence. His luck is truly remarkable to have gained the loyalty of a being like you."**
Ling'er giggled. "Mister Xiao is amazing, Fatty Wa. He's destined to become one of the Great Thousand World's most powerful figures."
Fatty Wa nodded thoughtfully. "That, I believe."
Before their conversation could continue, a sudden surge of power erupted from Xiao Tiance's body. The golden blood enveloping him had vanished, and the air grew heavy with a potent aura.
Fatty Wa's expression turned serious. "It's happening. The black clouds of the Heaven Supreme Tribulation have appeared!"
