Chapter 130 - Chapter 130: No One Left Alive

A full magazine of bullets was emptied in no time, and Zhang Yi didn't have time to reload. He simply tossed the submachine gun to the ground.

Then, he swiftly drew two police pistols from his waist with both hands.

The enemies couldn't run fast in the snow, and Zhang Yi shot them down one by one, each shot hitting their heads precisely. All were dead in an instant!

In less than twenty seconds, nearly everyone at the scene was wiped out!

A few remaining individuals stood trembling in the snow, their hands raised high in fear and desperation.

"Zhang Yi, we're not with them! We had nothing to do with this!"

"I swear, I swear we had no part in this! Please don't kill me!"

Zhang Yi recognized these few building leaders. When Wang Qiang and the others attacked earlier, these people hadn't acted. Most likely, they hadn't participated in the plot against him.

So, Zhang Yi pulled the trigger.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The heads of the few building leaders instantly had holes blown through them, and they fell to the snow.

Zhang Yi then aimed his gun at the last person still alive, Chen Lingyu, the leader of Building 9.

Chen Lingyu was so scared that she lost control of her bowels and bladder, crying hysterically with tears and snot streaming down her face.

"Zhang Yi, this really has nothing to do with me. Please, I beg you to believe me!"

"I have a 13-year-old daughter. She's abroad, and I need to stay alive to wait for her to come back."

Zhang Yi looked at her coldly. After a moment of silence, a gunshot rang out, and her life was ended.

The white snow was now dyed with large patches of blood.

Zhang Yi stood alone amidst the chaos, surrounded by over forty corpses scattered haphazardly on the ground.

Even in the apocalypse, this was the first time Zhang Yi had killed so many people in one go!

He knew that most of the people here likely hadn't taken part in the plot to kill him.

People like Chen Lingyu, and even members of the patrol team.

But Zhang Yi had no choice.

He couldn't allow anyone with even the slightest suspicion of trying to harm him to stay alive.

If he let them go now, they could become potential threats in the future.

Dead people were always the safest.

"You were all going to die eventually. Life is so hard, why not let me send you to heaven?"

Zhang Yi held the gun in his hand and exhaled a puff of white smoke.

"In a way, I've helped you escape the pain. You should be thanking me."

If the dead neighbors could speak from beyond the grave, they might say: "I really would thank you!"

After killing all the enemies, Zhang Yi scanned the surroundings.

The loud gunfire had already attracted the attention of all the neighbors.

They were watching the brutal scene from their windows, their eyes filled with awe and fear of Zhang Yi.

Some, however, felt relieved and grateful for what Zhang Yi had done.

Zhang Yi's gaze shifted to Buildings 26 and 21—the territories of the Tianhe Gang and the Mad Wolf Gang.

Wang Qiang and Huang Tianfang couldn't escape. They were the ones who had initiated the attack on Zhang Yi.

Originally, their men had been waiting at the entrance, ready to storm in and seize supplies once their leaders gave the signal to attack.

But when Zhang Yi pulled out that black M4 carbine, they were terrified.

Zhang Yi's cold, penetrating gaze only made them more afraid.

Xiao Lu, the second-in-command of the Mad Wolf Gang, was trembling, his voice shaking as he backed away, "Retreat, quickly! Don't let that demon come over here!"

A group of scared, panicking lackeys scrambled to flee into the building.

Zhang Yi ignored them and instead walked over to Uncle You.

Not far away, the bodies of Li Chengbin and Jiang Lei lay on the ground, riddled with bullet holes, still oozing blood.

These two had once been Zhang Yi's loyal subordinates, who had fought by his side countless times.

But now, for reasons unknown, they had betrayed him.

Still, Zhang Yi didn't care.

He considered betrayal by anyone, even Uncle You or Zhou Ke'er, to be normal in these times.

However, after today, Uncle You's place in Zhang Yi's heart would rise significantly.

At the very least, Uncle You had proven worthy of being entrusted with something important.

"Uncle You, are you still alive?"

Zhang Yi crouched down, checking his surroundings to guard against any potential sneak attacks while he felt for Uncle You's pulse.

"No pulse!"

Zhang Yi was shocked for a moment.

But then he remembered that he was still wearing cut-resistant gloves—feeling a pulse through them would be impossible!

Zhang Yi quickly flipped Uncle You's body over.

Three distinct bloodstains covered Uncle You's body.

The bullets hadn't hit his heart, but Zhang Yi didn't know if there was still a chance to save him.

Either way, Zhang Yi had to try!

At least if he tried, even if Uncle You died, the guilt in his heart would be much less.

He retrieved a vial of adrenaline from his alternate space and stabbed it hard into Uncle You's chest.

Then, Zhang Yi shouted toward Building 25, "Come help!"

At the entrance of Building 25, a group of neighbors stood, terrified.

They had been completely shocked by Zhang Yi's earlier killing spree, and none of them dared to approach him.

Zhang Yi's icy gaze swept over them, jolting them awake.

Fearful of Zhang Yi, they quickly ran over to help.

"Carry him up, take him to my place! And be careful—if you bump or drop him, I'll send you to Uncle You as paper offerings!"

With Zhang Yi's threat, the neighbors dared not be careless.

They handled Uncle You's body more cautiously than they would their own fathers.

Zhang Yi, meanwhile, kept his pistols ready as he followed closely behind.

When they reached the seventh floor, the group suddenly heard the sound of sobbing.

"Brother You, Brother You, what's wrong? You can't die on me! If something happens to you, how will we mother and daughter survive?"

Xie Limei was running down the stairs, crying, her child in her arms, tears streaming down her face.

Zhang Yi noticed that as Xie Limei cried, Uncle You's eyelids seemed to twitch slightly.

Zhang Yi sighed inwardly: Uncle You, you are too kind-hearted! But then again, if you weren't so kind and righteous, I might have killed you first.

Anyone who couldn't be used and was skilled in combat would become a significant threat.

Zhang Yi would eliminate such people without hesitation!

But now, Zhang Yi owed Uncle You a huge debt, and he couldn't very well take his anger out on Xie Limei.

The neighbors, aware of the relationship between Xie Limei and Uncle You, stepped aside to let her pass.

Xie Limei, holding her child, approached Uncle You and deliberately positioned herself closer to Zhang Yi, before bursting into even louder sobs.

"Honey! Open your eyes and look at me! It's me, Limei. You promised to marry me!"

"And our baby… you said you wanted to watch her grow up until she was eighteen. After the apocalypse ends, we can live together as a family."

"Honey!!!" (Long sob)

"You said you wouldn't break your promise!!!" (Another long sob)

"If you're gone, how will we survive? You might as well take us with you."

"Why did you have to be the hero? Blocking a bullet to show your loyalty, but what about us, your wife and child?"

...

Zhang Yi felt a chill run down his spine, goosebumps forming.

Xie Limei hadn't mentioned him by name, but every word was indirectly about him.

On the surface, she cried for Uncle You, but in reality, she was telling Zhang Yi: Uncle You took a bullet for you. If something happens to him, you must take care of us!
