Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: Ambush

Zhang Yi asked with concern, "Are you alright?"

Jiang Lei didn't expect Zhang Yi to specifically ask about his condition and quickly replied, "Just a scratch, I'm fine."

Zhang Yi immediately responded with a tone full of anger, "These damn wolves from the Tianhe gang nearly hurt one of my top men!"

"Jiang Lei, you don't need to be on duty tomorrow. Rest for a day."

He then sent a message in the group chat: "Everyone did a great job tonight. Tomorrow, we'll reward everyone who participated in the attack on the Tianhe gang with at least two portions of food!"

"Jiang Lei fought bravely and was injured, so he deserves everyone's respect. I'll let him rest tomorrow and reward him with an extra-large serving of braised pork rice!"

Upon hearing Zhang Yi's encouraging words, the neighbors became excited.

Although eight neighbors had died, at this point, losing someone didn't seem like a big deal anymore. They were all numb to the situation.

The most important thing was that tomorrow, they would have double portions of food as a guarantee!

The most enviable one was Jiang Lei, who would get to enjoy the braised pork rice at a time like this!

Even if they had food supplies, they no longer had many seasonings to cook with and couldn't afford to start a fire. They had long forgotten what braised pork rice even tasted like.

"Zhang Yi is so impressive! Haha!"

"Of course, we should stick with Zhang Yi. With him, we'll get meat to eat!"

"Damn, I didn't get a kill this time, but next time, the braised pork rice will be mine!"

Many people secretly vowed to work harder and fight better.

The next morning, Zhang Yi put on his full-body gear and left the house with confidence.

He planned to check out some nearby large shopping malls and hotels to see if there were any useful supplies.

He climbed out of the window on the fourth floor. The snow had already caved in, and a large patch of snow was stained with blood.

Zhang Yi couldn't help but reflect on how many battles had occurred recently in this area.

After a brief moment of contemplation, he gathered his thoughts, took his snowmobile from the hidden space, and sped off towards the outskirts of the neighborhood.

As soon as the engine roared to life, that familiar feeling returned.

The sensation of being watched.

Though Zhang Yi couldn't clearly see the people behind the windows, he knew that many eyes were on him.

He raised his head and coldly scanned the buildings one by one.

These people, in the near future, might become his enemies, and some of them could end up dying by his hands.

Zhang Yi's gaze moved from far to near, slowly retracting.

But just as he passed one of the buildings, he suddenly felt something was wrong.

21#.

The red "21" on the wall stood out, and it was this sign that gave Zhang Yi a strong sense of unease.

"21#, the Mad Wolf Gang…"

Zhang Yi frowned slightly, and after thinking for a moment, his expression turned sharp.

"That's what felt off!"

The Mad Wolf Gang's headquarters was in 21#, not far from their building.

But up until now, even though they knew Zhang Yi had plenty of supplies and a snowmobile, they still hadn't taken any action against him.

At first, Zhang Yi thought it was because they were being cautious and afraid of him.

But now, in hindsight, it felt strange.

No matter how cautious they were, they were still a group of young, hot-blooded individuals in their twenties.

Facing the tempting lure of a snowmobile, there was no way they could remain indifferent.

The strangest thing was that the other building leaders had approached Zhang Yi about collaborating.

Yet, the Mad Wolf Gang had never contacted him.

This was highly abnormal, extremely abnormal!

In Zhang Yi's mind, there was only one explanation for this: the silent ones were the most dangerous. They were planning to launch a surprise attack!

Zhang Yi patted the handgun in his pocket and then thought of the fully-loaded large guns in the hidden space, feeling a bit more at ease.

He quickly sent messages to Uncle You and Zhou Ke'er, telling them to lock the doors and be cautious of any ambush from other buildings.

Then he put his phone back into his jacket to prevent it from freezing.

Zhang Yi started the snowmobile and drove towards the front.

As he reached the edge of the neighborhood, something unexpected happened!

Suddenly, snow flew up from the ground ahead!

Then a doorboard stood up straight, blocking Zhang Yi's path.

Zhang Yi didn't have time to brake and quickly turned the handlebars.

"Bang!"

The snowmobile crashed into the doorboard, and two people were thrown into the snow.

It turned out that two people had been hiding in the snow, using ropes to attach the doorboard as a trap to block him.

Unfortunately, the doorboard was too thin. Not only did it fail to trip Zhang Yi, but it was also sent flying.

It just proved that TV dramas shouldn't be copied blindly!

Zhang Yi immediately realized he had fallen into an ambush!

There was no time to think. Seven or eight people had already climbed out of the snow, taking out weapons and charging at Zhang Yi.

Zhang Yi took a deep breath, the cold air helping him calm down.

He quickly drew his gun from his pocket, flicked off the safety, and before the eight people could reach him, he fired!

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

If an ordinary person had been attacked this close, they would likely have a tough time even with a gun.

But Zhang Yi had precision shooting skills and an excellent sense of spatial awareness. The bullets in his hand never missed.

With three shots, he killed the first three attackers, each one a headshot!

Before he could catch his breath, several others wielding machetes approached, only one meter away.

The machetes were raised, ready to strike at Zhang Yi!

In the nick of time, Zhang Yi turned his gun and aimed it at one of them's head, almost shoving the barrel into his mouth.

The man stiffened for a moment, wanting to say something.

"Bang!"

A shot rang out, and his head now had a hole in it.

The sight of this made the remaining attackers freeze in their tracks.

They had never seen someone so ruthless with a gun—one shot, one kill, and four of them were wiped out instantly!

Could he be some kind of half-human, half-ghost, like the legendary sharpshooter Yan Shuangying?

Zhang Yi didn't give them a chance to hesitate. He fired again, taking down two more attackers.

At this point, the remaining four attackers were so terrified that they turned around and fled in a panic.

Zhang Yi aimed at their backs, watching as they scrambled to run through the snow. Then, he changed his mind.

He put the gun in his mouth and started the snowmobile, chasing after them.

The fleeing attackers couldn't run fast in the snow. It was more like crawling.

The sound of the snowmobile roaring behind them sent shivers down their spines, and they ran even faster, terrified.

Zhang Yi caught up with the last one and crashed the snowmobile directly into him!

Half of the man's body was in the snow, and Zhang Yi's snowmobile ran over his upper body, mercilessly crushing him.

What's it like when 400 kilograms of human and machine are pressed down on someone?

The man let out a scream, his spine snapped, and the snowmobile crushed his back and then his head.

The others, hearing the scream, turned even paler. They gritted their teeth and ran for their lives, as if being chased by an evil spirit.
