The eight-year-old boy's screams shattered every window in the building.
Emma ducked as glass rained down around her, covering her head with her arms. This was their third emergency this week at Blackwood Academy for Gifted Children, and they'd only been open for two months.
"Tommy!" she called to the terrified child floating ten feet above the classroom floor. "It's okay! You're safe!"
But Tommy wasn't listening. His fear had triggered his levitation power, and now he was stuck against the ceiling, crying and making everything in the room shake with his sonic voice.
"I want my mom!" Tommy wailed, and the sound wave knocked Emma backward into the wall.
Kael burst through the doorway, followed by Marcus, who immediately started creating protective barriers around the other students.
"What happened?" Kael shouted over the noise.
"Billy made fun of his dead sister," Emma yelled back. "Tommy saw her ghost during art class, and Billy said he was lying!"
