Emma's eyes snapped open, blazing with silver fire.
She stood up from the shadow cracks like they were made of water instead of darkness. The Necro-Sovereign stumbled backward.
"Impossible," it hissed. "You were consumed!"
Emma looked at her hands. They glowed with power she'd never felt before. "I was. But dying taught me something you never learned."
"What?"
"Love is stronger than death."
She waved her hand, and suddenly she could see every soul in the realm of the dead. Billions of glowing lights stretching out forever. Some were peaceful and happy. Others were trapped and screaming.
But now she understood the difference.
"I can bring back anyone I want," Emma said, testing her new power. She pointed at empty air, and a small butterfly appeared, wings shimmering with life. "Without feeling their death myself."
The Necro-Sovereign's hood trembled. "You think this makes you powerful? You're still in MY realm!"
