Maydee leaned forward, her piercing gaze locked onto Joshua. "Now, tell me about the three attack spells you used. Don't skip the details."
Joshua took a deep breath, steadying himself. He knew he had to be careful with his words. Using terms from his past life, like 'joules' and 'mach speed,' would only confuse Maydee. Instead, he needed to phrase his explanations in ways that aligned with this world's magical principles.
He nodded. "Alright, I'll start with the first spell—Needle Shot."
Maydee crossed her arms, waiting expectantly.
Joshua lifted his hand and conjured a small wisp of energy between his fingers. "This spell relies on extreme compression and shaping. I take a small amount of energy and force it into a minuscule form, refining it until it becomes a thin, sharp projectile like a needle. Due to its compact nature, the energy becomes incredibly dense, allowing it to penetrate most materials with ease. Moreover, it is so small, it is barely detectable."
Maydee's eyebrows furrowed slightly, intrigued but skeptical. "And how does it remain silent?"
Joshua smiled. "It's because of the way I release it. Instead of an explosive burst of energy like a traditional spell, I create a controlled push, minimizing the excess energy that would normally cause a loud crack or burst. Imagine a master archer who releases an arrow with perfect technique—no unnecessary movement, no wasted force. The needle is propelled forward with just enough force to achieve high speed without disturbing the surrounding air."
Maydee nodded slowly, considering his words. "And the strength of the attack?"
Joshua tapped his temple thoughtfully. "It's designed for precision rather than brute force. The concentrated energy makes it highly effective against small to medium creatures, provided I hit a vital point. If I target a soft spot—like the eye, throat, or heart—it can be lethal even against armored opponents. But if I were to aim at thick hide or reinforced bone, it would not be as effective. I am not familiar on how tough the monsters are in this world but before I destroyed the trees with my last spell, i did notice a hole about four fingers wide pierced through the tree's trunk."
She tapped her fingers on the desk, processing his explanation. "So it's a spell that relies on accuracy rather than raw destructive power. Interesting. With that much power though, it can pierce most of the tough hides of the monsters living in the thick forest surrounding the village. And the second spell?"
Joshua took another breath and prepared to explain further, his mind already breaking down the mechanics of his next attack spell into terms Maydee could grasp.
Joshua took another deep breath, his mind working to frame his explanation in terms Maydee would understand.
"The second spell I cast is what I call the Penetrator," he began. "This one is designed not just to pierce a target, but to cause devastating damage once it gets inside."
Maydee folded her arms, watching him intently. "Go on."
Joshua nodded. "I start by gathering a concentrated amount of energy, much more than I use for Needle Shot. Instead of shaping it into a fine point, I mold it into a tiny spear. The structure is important—it has to be narrow and dense so that it can cut through the target's outer defenses with ease. But that's just the first step. The real power comes after penetration."
He gestured towards the destroyed tree, the entire back portion blown apart. "Once it enters the target, I allow the compressed energy inside to rapidly expand. It's like forcing a flood through a small opening—it bursts outward violently, causing everything around it to be torn apart from the inside. The entry wound is barely noticeable, but the internal damage is massive."
Maydee's eyes narrowed in understanding. "So the energy remains contained until it's inside the target? And then it suddenly expands?"
Joshua nodded. "Exactly. If I released the energy too soon, it would just create a surface explosion. But by ensuring it stays stable until it's embedded deep enough, I can maximize the damage where it matters most. This makes it perfect against enemies with strong outer defenses but weak internals—like armored beasts or heavily shielded opponents."
Maydee pursed her lips. "That level of control… how do you keep it from detonating too early?"
Joshua smiled. "That's the tricky part. I have to maintain absolute control over the compression until just the right moment. I achieve that by layering the energy in stages, with the outer layer acting as a containment shell. Once it hits a solid mass and slows down enough, the shell destabilizes, allowing the explosion to take place inside. It's a delicate balance, but if done right, the results are... well, you saw them yourself."
Maydee exhaled slowly, glancing once more at the destruction. "You're pushing the limits of what magic can do, Joshua. But be careful. That kind of power is dangerous—not just to your enemies, but to yourself."
"And the third?"
Joshua took a deep breath, steadying himself before continuing. "The last spell… I call it The Devastator."
Maydee narrowed her eyes, already displeased. "That's an ominous name."
Joshua chuckled awkwardly. "Well… it fits." He gestured toward the massive crater where the trees once stood. "This spell is meant for creatures the size of that behemoth's head in the chief's hall. When I first saw it, I realized that simple penetration wouldn't be enough for something so massive. Even if I pierced its hide, I'd need a way to destroy its insides or cripple it in one blow."
Maydee's frown deepened. "And?"
Joshua continued, choosing his words carefully to avoid confusing her with foreign concepts. "It follows the same principle as The Penetrator, but instead of a single spear, I use a much larger compressed mass of energy. Imagine condensing the strength of fifty Needle Shots into one attack, or ten Penetrators. The result is a force strong enough to break through thick hides, then detonate with enough energy to tear apart flesh, bones, and anything caught in the blast radius. The energy I gathered was between fifteen to twenty thousand ar'cha."
Maydee's expression darkened. "You packed that much energy into a single attack?! Are you trying to bring down a mountain?"
Joshua scratched his cheek. "It wasn't that much, I used about the same number of ar'cha you used when you hit me with the Wind Blade. The only difference is the compression and the layers."
Maydee rubbed her temples, exasperated. "You're reckless. A spell like that is not meant to be thrown around without control."
Joshua nodded, serious this time. "I know. That's why I need to refine it, learn how to use less energy and focus it more efficiently. If I can master it, I'll have a weapon that can take down massive threats with a single strike."
Maydee sighed. "You're walking a dangerous path, Joshua. Power without control is destruction. But…" she exhaled deeply, eyeing the devastation once more. "I can't deny its effectiveness. We'll need to discuss this more."
Joshua smirked. "That's why I'm here, Master."
Maydee shook her head. "Come, we have much to work on. You must be hungry. Let us replenish you strength then we will go and see father."
"Yes Master." Joshua said obediently.
