Chapter 6 - Strange Energy

The two wolves were panicking, they felt threatened by the dark grey clouds that stole their sight, but they were afraid of the human within the smoke attacking them.

*Wooosh

Ty appeared behind one of the wolves slicing cleanly through its leg causing it to yelp and tumble while trying to run.

The other wolf saw this tried to retaliate, but the attacker was already gone. Ty appeared in the blind-spot of the attacking wolf preforming a downward slash that sent part of the wolf's head flying.

The wolf with three legs tried to scurry away after the death of his friend, but Ty simply vanished in a cloud of smoke.

'Shit that took a lot of stamina, I better finish this', Ty thought.

*Slash

Ty burst from the smoke in front of the retreating wolf swinging his sword in a horizontal arc, his slash sending the wolf's head flipping through the air.

Blood rushed from the severed neck of the wolf, a little getting on Ty but he didn't mind too much.

"I'm definitely gonna get used to this", he said with a smile while looking at his sword.

Ty was still mesmerized by the energy he felt pouring into him from the sword, but that's not why he was staring.

'Why does this feel so familiar', Ty thought referring to the energy.

'Right, it's the same energy I feel when my ability activates, but what exactly is it and can I control it?'

Ty closed his eyes and used his ability, trying to figure out where this energy is coming from. He let small clouds slowly drift from his body, trying to feel within himself but soon ran into a problem.

'How do I look inside myself', he thought.

'They never explain it in those cultivation novels, it's like they just want it to happen, and it does-', Ty paused his thoughts wondering if something so simple was the answer.

'It can't be that easy, can it?'

Opting that trying is better than not, Ty sat down and crossed his legs. After taking a deep breath, he started releasing clouds again, focusing on the feeling they give when they leave his body and following that feeling deeper towards the origin.

Ty saw what looked like black energy coursing through his veins empowering his physique to superhuman levels, and when he looked even deeper, he was left astonished at the scene before him.

A dim core in an even darker space resting just below his belly button, there is no light other than the bright star revolving around the dim core.

'What is that?', he wondered

'Well, I guess this is where it all comes from but, now that I know though what do I do other than cultivate right', he thought hoping he was on the right track.

'Welp looks like I'll have to figure this out later they're all done', he looked past the smoke, seeing that the others were almost done he made it start to dissipate.

Ken was holding the wolf by its maw, receiving multiple shallow wounds on his abdomen. With a roar of his own Ken tore the top of the wolfs head off.

"That was a little too close", he said panting heavily while looking at the wolfs corpse.

Looking at Ray and his fight Ken was shocked to find the wolf already dead with holes in different parts of its body and scorched marks everywhere.

'Damn', Ken swore internally.

'He really killed two by himself, and it looks like he doesn't have a scratch on him', Ken was surprised to find Ty with both wolves maimed in some way.

'Looks like he's a pretty skilled combatant, hopefully with all of us we make it safely to the center', Ken reasoned.

"You guys all finished up right", asked Ty.

"Yea were all good"

"Yea same here"

Ray and Ken replied like it was just another day, even though this will be their new reality.

"Cool, let's go get everyone else so we can start making our way", Ty said while walking toward the condo.

'Hopefully we don't run anything more dangerous than those wolves, but something tells me this is wishful thinking.
