The weight of his father's betrayal still burned in his chest, but there was no time for hesitation. The battle outside raged on—Rey and the resistance were holding the line, but they wouldn't last forever.
Lyra ran beside him, pulse rifle in hand. "We don't have much time. The energy core is beneath the control tower. If we destroy it, the Syndicate's entire defense grid will collapse."
Kade nodded, but his mind was elsewhere. His father was still here. He could feel it. And this time, there would be no escape.
They turned a corner, only to be met with a squad of Syndicate enforcers. The soldiers raised their rifles, but Kade was faster. He lunged forward, his blade cutting through the air. The first guard barely had time to react before Kade struck, taking him down in a single blow.
Lyra fired, covering his advance as he tore through the remaining guards. The last soldier tried to run, but Kade grabbed him, slamming him against the wall.
"Where is he?" Kade growled.
The guard struggled, fear in his eyes. "H-he's in the tower… but you won't reach him. He's waiting for you."
Kade tightened his grip. "Then I won't keep him waiting."
He let the soldier drop, his body trembling as he scrambled away.
Lyra wiped blood from her cheek. "You sure you're ready for this?"
Kade exhaled. "I don't know. But I don't have a choice."
With that, they pushed forward, deeper into the heart of the fortress. Ahead of them, the control tower loomed—where Nathaniel Ronin was waiting.
