Chapter 462: Peerless Douluo
At that moment, Xuanzi's already furious, reddened face twisted further with rage.
"Silence! Shrek Academy will not stand to be insulted by some nameless rogue like you!"
"Oh? So, by your reasoning, as long as I'm famous, I can insult Shrek all I want? Hah! You're not even thinking through your own words. This really makes me question Shrek's teaching standards," Ye Wen responded with a merciless sneer.
In the world of Douluo, power ruled supreme, with morality taking a back seat. The elders of the Sea God Pavilion held their positions not for virtue, but solely for their strength.
"You !" Xuanzi fumbled, anger clouding his mind as he tried to retort, but a calm voice interrupted.
"That's enough, Xuanzi."
Xuanzi's face fell, and he turned to see the newcomer. Immediately, he lowered his head in shame, his pride shattered.
Ye Wen also turned his gaze toward the new arrival.
"Dragon God Douluo, Mu En," he murmured.
Mu En approached slowly, his back slightly hunched, and smiled warmly.
"It's been quite some time since I've come out myself. I didn't expect there would still be people who remember me. May I know who you are, and whether you'd consider releasing Xuanzi on my behalf?"
Ye Wen didn't want to escalate matters with Shrek, so he released Xuanzi without hesitation, tossing him back toward the elders.
Mu En quickly recognized that Ye Wen bore no strong hostility, though he had no idea what had transpired. Wanting to address the situation with diplomacy, he asked gently, "Thank you. Would you mind telling me what happened here?"
Ye Wen let out a slight laugh, one that went unnoticed by everyone in the vicinity, hidden by his current form.
"So, the Dragon God Douluo is asking what happened? I see the Sea God Pavilion isn't entirely filled with brainless fools who only know how to bark and bite."
Mu En frowned, detecting the animosity in Ye Wen's tone toward Xuanzi's aggressive actions. Moreover, after witnessing Ye Wen's overwhelming strength against Xuanzi, Mu En dared not be reckless.
"Please, if there's something you feel wronged by, speak freely," Mu En replied. "My reputation is known, and I am a man of reason. If there's a mistake, Shrek will take responsibility. But I won't allow anyone to slander Shrek's honor."
To an outsider, Mu En's sense of justice might have seemed admirable. But to Ye Wen, it was clear that Mu En's supposed "principles" were no different from the rest of the Pavilion elders.
The so called honor of Shrek Academy a term that was undoubtedly thrilling to its members was nothing more than an excuse for the academy's collective self righteousness. From Ye Wen's perspective, Shrek Academy had long strayed from any true glory, thriving off of might rather than virtue.
"Maybe you should start by asking the Taotie Douluo here about his actions," Ye Wen said, his voice unwavering. "I hadn't even spoken a word, and he was already ready to kill me. How bold."
Mu En sighed deeply, catching on to what had likely caused such hostility. He also knew he would have to discipline Xuanzi for his recklessness.
How could I entrust Shrek to him at this rate? Mu En thought bitterly. With no other 98 level Titled Douluo in Shrek's ranks, he had no choice. The burden of maintaining Shrek's legacy rested on him alone.
Turning to Ye Wen, Mu En spoke, "On Xuanzi's behalf, I apologize for his rashness."
Nearby, Xuanzi lowered his head further, his shame evident. He wished he could sink into the earth and disappear.
For Ye Wen, Xuanzi's attack was barely worth mentioning.
With a dismissive wave, he replied, "Fine. But I expect the Dragon God Douluo to answer for something else."
Mu En's brows furrowed as he was reminded that Xuanzi's impulsive attack wasn't the main issue. The initial surge of soul power had attracted the other Pavilion elders to the scene. And they were wary; the academy had no shortage of external threats, nor was Mu En in any condition to act impulsively himself.
"What would you have us do?" Mu En asked.
Ye Wen cast his gaze around before slowly raising a finger.
"I understand this matter isn't entirely Shrek's fault. So, I'll compromise. If the Dragon God Douluo can take one move from me, I'll leave."
Mu En's eyes narrowed slightly. So, it's come to this, he thought. Then he nodded, transforming into his true warrior form.
"Very well. Show me what you've got."
Without hesitation, Ye Wen pointed a single finger at Mu En. A colossal ethereal finger manifested, hurtling toward him.
In that instant, Mu En's face twisted in shock. What seemed like a simple attack carried a terrifying, primal energy something that even the Dragon God Douluo couldn't fully comprehend.
This man isn't a 98 level Super Douluo; he's a Peerless Douluo, just like me!
Mu En instinctively raised his defenses to their peak.
"Roar!"
A blinding golden light burst forth, and a powerful dragon's roar echoed across the city as the mighty Radiant Holy Dragon, stretching a hundred meters long, emerged to meet Ye Wen's attack head on. The colossal finger clashed against Mu En's dragon form, neither yielding an inch.
The intense soul power waves from their clash destroyed what remained of the commercial district, the damage spreading far beyond.
The exchange ended with Mu En standing, exhausted but resolute, his gaze fixed on Ye Wen with newfound respect.
"Such strength," he muttered, eyes narrowed. "May I at least know the name of the man who wields it?"
