Chapter 273: Berserker and Tempest
With a fierce swing, Blade Eight unleashed a massive, hundred meter long slash charged with blood red lightning, slicing straight toward the members of the Hao Tian Sect. The sheer force of this strike radiated an ominous energy, carrying an illusion of shattering heaven and earth.
Elders Seven, Eight, and Nine, who were in the lead, felt the full brunt of the impending blow, and their faces turned grim. Instinctively, they summoned their True Body Armors to maximize their defenses, preparing for the terrifying impact.
The closer the strike drew, the more they felt its terrifying power. Realizing they couldn't dodge due to an invisible force locking onto them, Elder Seven spat in frustration, "Damn it! Brothers, we'll have to use the Exploding Ring technique, or we won't stand a chance!"
Elders Eight and Nine nodded grimly. "Exploding Ring x3!"
The Exploding Ring was a portion of the Great Sumeru Hammer technique, with a significant difference. Using the Exploding Ring alone allowed the user to detonate select spirit rings rather than all at once, as required in the Great Sumeru Hammer, which demanded all nine rings and immense power concentrated in a single blow.
Each elder detonated four spirit rings initially, but even that didn't seem sufficient. With clenched teeth, they each detonated a fifth ring.
"Aargh!!"
Their bodies surged with the near overwhelming energy of the spirit rings, pushing them to their limits as they channeled the power into the Hao Tian Nine Strikes technique, clashing head on with Blade Eight's overwhelming strike.
Yet, facing the blow of someone with power nearly doubled from a Super Douluo at the peak of level 99 was no small feat.
(Power levels at level 99: Ultimate Douluo – Half God – Quasi God; ratios of strength: 1:2:6, with each stage growing exponentially stronger. Quasi Gods are three times stronger than Half Gods, who are already twice as powerful as Ultimate Douluos.)
The elders barely managed to shatter Blade Eight's strike with everything they had, but Elder Seven fell to the ground, convulsing and cursing in pain. "Brothers, watch out! His lightning has a strange effect I'm paralyzed!"
The other Hao Tian elders glanced at each other in alarm, keeping their guard up as Blade Eight approached. But instead of charging, he licked his blade with excitement, his eyes gleaming with bloodlust.
"You're all carrying the scent of strong fighters. This is going to be fun."
Elder Seven, infuriated, snapped back, "You brat, don't get cocky! We're from the Hao Tian Sect, masters of the world's greatest weapon spirit!"
Blade Eight remained unfazed, rhythmically tapping his shoulder with the back of his blade as he sneered, "Enough talk come on, let's tear into each other!"
A menacing aura spread from him, so thick with the stench of death that one could only imagine the countless lives he'd taken to forge such a killing intent. Tang Xiao, observing him closely, was astonished. Compared to the fearsome aura of his brother Tang Hao when he'd left the City of Slaughter, this bloodlust was on another level.
"Everyone, he may be the strongest among the Ten Prodigies," Tang Xiao warned. "He's also lightning elemental, so I'll handle him; the rest of you wouldn't stand a chance."
But Blade Eight chuckled darkly. "Facing me with such arrogance... Hao Tian Sect, you all have a death wish. With me here, none of you are getting past."
Before Tang Xiao's group could react, Blade Eight lunged at them, his fiendish Heart Demon Blade hurtling down towards Tang Xiao.
Tang Xiao cursed inwardly, realizing he'd underestimated this madman, and rushed forward to meet the attack head on.
Though Tang Xiao wielded a heavy weapon spirit, his Hao Tian Hammer felt as if it was smashing into an entire mountain. "Leave me! Take out the other Prodigies!"
"Exploding Ring! Hao Tian Nine Strikes!" he roared.
The Hao Tian Hammer blazed with power as Tang Xiao swung it with brutal intensity, clashing repeatedly with Blade Eight's Heart Demon Blade. The savage force of each impact stirred Blade Eight's bloodlust even more, locking the two in a furious duel.
Watching their leader in such a violent battle, the remaining elders hesitated, knowing they weren't a match for such power.
Suddenly, a soft yet exasperated voice chimed in, "Honestly, if you said you'd hold the line, then do it right, Brother Eight."
The voice chilled the elders to the bone, and they quickly readied their True Body Armors in defense, senses on high alert. In the blink of an eye, the area around Blade Eight and Tang Xiao bore the marks of scattered slashes across the ground.
Out from the shadows stepped Chen Youyu, her presence elegant yet menacing, holding the Sky Wind Demon Sword in her hand.
"Focus on fighting all of them, not just one, Brother Eight."
Blade Eight, still clashing with Tang Xiao, didn't even look her way as he responded, "Yeah, yeah, sorry about that. Go ahead, Sister, clean up these small fries for me. This guy's too interesting to let anyone else handle."
Chen Youyu sighed, shaking her head. "Guess I'll have to send the rest of the Hao Tian Sect packing myself, then."
Raising her sword with a graceful yet deadly movement, Chen Youyu's indifferent tone riled the elders.
First Elder's face hardened as he raised his hammer and bellowed, "To think you'd dare face all nine of us alone and speak so insolently. Prepare to die, brat!"
He swung his hammer with brutal force directly at her head. But Chen Youyu slipped away like a leaf on the wind, dodging his strike with an ease that seemed almost lazy.
The hammer crashed to the ground, shattering the earth in a hundred meter radius and leaving a deep crater around the First Elder. "Stand still, damn brat!" he growled, his voice dripping with fury.
The other elders watched the scene, their faces hardening with bloodlust. They were beyond caring about the disgrace of nine against one. Yet no matter how many strikes they launched, Chen Youyu seemed untouchable, eluding them effortlessly.
She gave them a disappointed look, her gaze colder than steel as she suddenly stepped forward with impossible speed, brushing past them as if walking through mist.
"Sky Wind Sword Technique: Gentle Breeze on the Face Nine Consecutive Strikes!"
Before the elders could react, slashes appeared across their chests in the blink of an eye.
Lowering her sword, Chen Youyu's face showed nothing but disappointment as she scoffed, "Is this all the famed Hao Tian Sect can manage?"
The sharp pain from her cuts surged through the elders' bodies. But years of wielding their mighty hammers had made them resilient, their bodies as tough as iron. Ignoring the wounds, the First Elder swung his hammer in a desperate bid to show her the true power of the Hao Tian Sect.
But if nine of them together couldn't even graze her, his solitary attack had no chance.
