Chapter 255: Domain Unleashed, Angelic Judgment (Part 1)
Inside the Perfect Cube, a writhing, grotesque energy mass pulsed, starting as mere vapor before coalescing into a terrifying, monstrous form. Ye Wen gazed upon the creature within his barrier with a smile.
"Blood Red Nine Headed Bat King," he murmured. "A special entity spawned from the Slaughter City's rules, able to shift forms freely, adept at mental attacks… even a top level spirit master like Tang Chen succumbed to your parasitic control. You're too dangerous, Nine Headed Bat King. I'll have to seal you."
Inside the Perfect Cube, the Blood Red Nine Headed Bat King was frantic with despair. It had tried to control Tang Chen's body to escape, but in that crucial moment, Tang Chen's consciousness had resurfaced, wrestling for control. As holy light intensified around them, the Nine Headed Bat King had desperately attempted to escape, only to be captured by what appeared to be an ordinary human with a single decisive move.
In fact, the Bat King trembled, recognizing the truth: This man must be a god!
Faced with Ye Wen's amused, probing gaze, the Bat King realized its future was bleak. Regret filled its mind it should have attacked the barrier instead of cowering. But Ye Wen had no concern for the Bat King's panic. He tossed it effortlessly into his spirit realm space and resumed watching the unfolding scene.
With the Nine Headed Bat King expelled, Tang Chen no longer the Slaughter King stood panting, free at last. Though Tang Chen was over a century old, his cultivation as a Level 99 Title Douluo had previously kept him youthful. Now, however, his face bore signs of age, his hair dry and streaked with silver.
Qianqian dismissed her Holy Light, and while she watched him coolly, she refrained from attacking. Tang Chen raised a weary hand to the sky, his gaze clouded with nostalgia.
Turning his eyes to Ye Wen, he asked hoarsely, "What year is it?"
Seeing no harm in humoring the elder, Ye Wen replied, "It's the year 2651."
Tang Chen's shoulders drooped further, weariness deepening in his gaze. Eyeing the Liuhe Sealing Array around them, he sighed. "So… we're enemies, then. But now that the parasite has left me, there's no reason for conflict. Will you let an old man go?"
Qianqian interjected before Ye Wen could respond. "Our target was you from the start. Prepare yourself, Tang Chen Unrivaled of the Earth, Title Douluo of the Clear Sky Clan."
Recognizing her as a successor to the Angel God due to her radiant wings, Tang Chen attempted one final appeal. "The Grand Priest of Spirit Hall, Qian Daoliu, was an old friend of mine. Must you fight me now, child?"
Qianqian raised her Holy Sword with resolve. "Your attempts to test me are transparent, elder. It's time you stopped delaying."
Tang Chen realized he'd been caught; the young woman before him, though youthful in appearance, possessed remarkable insight, immediately sensing his intentions. Both had undergone divine trials and recognized each other's godly aura. Qian Daoliu's rank held no weight compared to the next Angel God.
He sighed deeply, sensing his weakened body ravaged by years of parasitism from the Nine Headed Bat King. Victory seemed unlikely.
But then his expression steeled, and he snapped, "Do you know who I am, child?"
With that, a surge of imposing, domineering spirit power radiated from Tang Chen, momentarily surprising both Ye Wen and Qianqian despite their superior power. Ye Wen marveled no wonder Tang Chen was this era's only Level 99 douluo through sheer cultivation alone. His connection with the Clear Sky Hammer was unparalleled.
Tang Chen's gaze turned contemplative as he looked down at the two meter long Shura Demon Sword in his hand, red and threaded with golden veins.
With a wry smile, he tossed the sword aside. In his later years, the quest for divinity had driven him, until he had forged the Shura Demon Sword through painstaking effort. But now, with his failure before him, it held no meaning.
Raising his right hand, Tang Chen summoned his Clear Sky Hammer, its massive dark gold body covered in ominous carvings, exuding both grandeur and menace.
"This is your final warning," he stated firmly. "If there is no irreconcilable conflict between us, I advise you to leave. But if you persist, I won't be held responsible for what happens next."
His warning was met by Qianqian's sword, gleaming with divine, angelic light. To Tang Chen's shock, her strike transcended mortal limits, bearing the force of a second tier god's power. He felt a surge of Shura God's residual power respond within him, renewing his strength as he met her strike with his Clear Sky Hammer, executing the nine techniques of the Clear Sky Clan.
The clash seemed even, despite the vast difference in their cultivation levels.
Observing from the sidelines, Ye Wen's expression remained calm as he gazed upward. "You've no chance," he muttered under his breath.
The subtle signs that Qianqian, a near god, couldn't detect were obvious to Ye Wen. Tang Chen's miraculous resistance was due to the Shura God's lingering divine energy within him, helping to bridge the gap between them. But the Shura God could do no more; with the new Sea God watching, further interference was impossible.
Meanwhile, in the Divine Realm, the Shura God's face darkened. Tang Chen's eighth trial had been to slay the Nine Headed Bat King, yet the years of stalemate meant the trial had dragged on without completion. The Bat King had exploited a loophole, possessing Tang Chen and keeping him alive, leaving the eighth trial unresolved.
