Some of the ladies laughed. Mei Mei hid her face behind a pillow.
"Nobody should say another word." She said and pouted. "I definitely don't want anyone saying something like this is why the Meilin list was created. I did not mean what about foolish blind love like the one I thought I was in when I run off. I meant....." She stopped her tirade and sighed. "You know what, I won't ask anymore questions. Just point me to the bridal shop and let's begin trying on those maid of honor dresses."
The butler walked to the entrance and cleared his throat and announced. "Miss Kang Zhenzhen is here."
Zhilan stood up and Mei Mei pulled her down.
"Isn't she the next Empress?" Zhilan whispered.
Mei Mei shrugged. "Maybe or maybe not. Either way, she is not one yet so we don't need to stand and curtsy. Just treat her like any other person for now."
