Some members of the Mo family were already working on escaping the empire. Mo Shuo, Mo Anqi and their families were the first--nine in total. They chose to use the sea route over the sky. By 9 p.m. they were already standing at the docks of Wagubang Port. It was one of the largest and most advanced ports in the empire. It handled many containers and dealt with international cargo.
Mo Chenyu had smuggled a lot of antiques out of the empire using this route and he had partners that the Mo's were meeting. The docks were dark, with little to no activity ongoing at the port. This was because it had been closed for the night to allow the employees join mourners outside the royal palace.
