"Welcome all contestants to the midnight games!"
Darkness voices bellowed through the plastic it was clear she was excited for this.
"All of you will have to participate a series of games ofcourse I won't take no thanks for an answer."
Darkness said that with a nice simile while holding her scythe like it wasn't negotiable and you must participate in this .
"Annyways pick a partner and I'll make sure you won't pick more than one the next game requires one partner ,if anything there should be 40 teams."
Darkness announces to the crowd as everyone gets into a team of two. Domino looks around Jim and him was about to pair up until Darkness tapped Domino's shoulder wasn't she just up there on that platform he didn't even noticed she moved.
"Sorry buddy but you've already have a partner."
Darkness says it without sarcasim she was serious she wasn't smiling. Domino looked at her if she was crazy he knew she wasn't joking maybe she was crazy.
"You seem confused oh right you didn't expect Shadow to be your partner."
Domino looks at Darkness that was completely unfair she definitely knew for a fact that Shadow isn't doing anything and watch him suffer besides Shadow probably won't care just like he did with his fight against Bo.
"That isn't fair!"
Domino shouts pointing at Darkness like it was going to do anything everyone looks at Domino like he was making a fuss and annoyed that Darkness will get annoyed and she will make this game a whole lot harder.
"Sorry kiddo but Shadow is considered as a participate and Aurora did all the math so there could be 40 teams."
Domino looks at Darkness twitching and his hand closes if like he was going to punch Darkness repeatedly .
"Fine have it your way I won't lose I'll win even with this disadvantage."
Domino says that and walks off like a child having a tantrum .
Once everyone got into 40 teams of two people in each of them Jim being with Cassandra and the young kid with the old man and the people in the cloaks got partnered up with themselves. Darkness clapped her hands and everyone was teleported to a track surrounded by walls .
The walls were purple and was incredibly high with the roof also being purple. This whole place was enclosed except a small part like a balcony where Darkness stood with a girl. The girl herself was probably a important person but she didn't look as scary as Darkness she stood there with a clipboard and had circle glasses and a grey dress her brown hair was also tidy. This whole place was a rectangle no imperfections , it was perfectly calculated obviously that girl up there did it , Darkness was too much of a annoying rude person to do all the calculations .
Domino looked at the track. The track itself was bump steep flat at times or even jagged the whole floor was black so it was pretty difficult to know if there was a bump of the ground. Domino looks at his legs to see both of them have been tied together by a black magical material. He looks around to see everyone else had their legs tied but not like him only one of their legs were tied to their partners legs like this was supposed to be a four legged race . Domino realised that it was in fact a four legged race and since his partner was currently in his head he had to hop to win this race .
"Attention all participants !"
Darkness was holding something black and was cylinder shaped and she was enjoying it. It made her voice project to the whole track everyone looked at her instinctly
"This is as you see a four legged race and only half of you will pass as soon as 20 teams get through the rest of the teams will be enslaved and will be forced to serve the people of Nightshade for the rest of enterinty."
Darkness said it like it was no big deal and it will be all fine. Everyone looked at the impossibly hard track it was difficult to walk through and it was long. Domino stood there hopeless knowing it's over for him because he has to hop the whole thing.
"Okay everybody we will start in..."
Darkness says it like a announcer of a tournament and begins counting down
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!"
"Go go go"
Everybody bolted some used magic to get themselves and their partner arcoss. People like Cassandra and Jim was getting transported through Cassandra bubbles while the weak fragile kid dragged the old man through the whole thing besides Darkness never said they couldn't use magic, if anything the whole track felt like she was encouraging it because of how much mana was in the air.
Unfortunately for Domino hoping was his only way to get across since he hasn't unlocked and awaken his magic but unfortunately Domino wasn't the only victim some who haven't awakened magic was also having time.
"Ohhhhh you so SLOW!"
Shadow exclaimed like he was getting tortured on how slow Domino was going
"I am going to have a crisis about how slow you are it pains me STOP PLEASE!"
Shadow was now having a headache he knew if this was him he would of done it by now but this is like being the top at something just to restart everything .
"Nah man your working now you sloth work now you piece of sh-!"
Shadow basically had enough of Domino's slow start and zap Domino's brain to jolt this man and lord and behold Domino starts to hop like he never done before with Shadows friendly reminder Domino's logical thinking state diminished and went into his human survival instincts doing everything to win. Domino did a hand sign like when you usually do when you grab something and point it at the end of the track and then he grabbed . He was pulled by a unknown force going at crazy speeds like no other . Passing everyone and heading into First place.
Darkness and Aurora looked at Domino unbelievably . Aurora starts writing on her clipboard. She was expecting this from this event but definitely not from the person that Shadow is trying to possess but it makes sense if that was his power it's no wonder why Shadow wants that body.
Domino landed on the end of the track breaking his legs in the process . Domino woke back into his logic state because of his legs breaking.
"What was that power did I just awakened mymagical abilities?"
Domino turned back to see two of the four cloaked people reaching the end and unlike Domino whoes reeling in all of his lost breathing since he was doing anaerobic respiration. They stood there like they were used to this.
"Congratulations you two."
Domino said that breathing in heavy breaths and those two looked at him and he saw one of them under their hood smirk.
"Well kiddo we actually thought we were going to win this race and saw nobody worth while expect that commander you defeated our expectations of this place. "
The larger cloaked person who had a gentleman's voice spoke to Domino he was the smirking one .
"My name is Domino what's yours?"
Domino wanted to be nice to them and get to know those two strangers.
"You can call me Pulse."
The same one spoke before the other kept silent it was almost as if the other one was forbidden to speak.
After a while 20 teams made it arcoss that also included Jim and Cassandra. Jim ran to Domino hugged him after all in Jim's head Domino was his best friend and Domino felt the same way
"We've made it together bro!"
Jim exclaimed he was happy they didn't lose any of their group members.
"Bro huh? I guess I am like a older brother to you."
Domino felt a unbreakable bond with his friend one that will probably live until one of them dies.
"Are you two done?"
Cassandra stood there with her arms crossed she couldn't believe she was with these two idoits . One is broke boy and the other is arsonist what the worst match up ever, what could possibly go wrong.
"Is that you Domino."
They heard a female voice behind them and they turned to met this person that somehow knows Domino.
