Chapter 82 - Chapter 82- The Interceptor

The results of the show of hands were quite interesting. Apart from Qian Long, the other four all voted in favor.

As for Li Wei, there's no need to mention him, as he was the one who proposed this commission; considering Wells' character, the more difficult things are, the less likely he is to back down—previously it was due to recklessness, and now it's because of persistence. And Cai Yutong, she has never been afraid of challenges.

For Qian Long, it's understandable that these three hotheads got carried away, but the fact that Bandary also chose to agree was unimaginable to him.

"Why did you agree? Can you tell me the reason?"

Bandary took a deep breath and said, "I think it can be done. You and I don't even need to be mentioned. You know Li Wei's strength, and I believe there should be no problem considering him as an expert who has already unlocked his gene locks. Wells has also broken through, and Yutong is also not weak. Our team can already compete against Level B commissions now."

  "But the risks..."

"I know the risks," Banderry said, "I know you're naturally cautious, but... I think it's time to take some chances. We're hunters, not eating an iron rice bowl. If we don't make a move while we still have our edge, and live in a state of old age every day, it's not what I want."

"What can I say?" Qian Long didn't know what to say for a while.

Listening to the conversation between these two friends, Li Wei said, "Alright, now four votes are agreed, so, Old Qian, will you join us?"

"What else can I do?" Qian Long surrenders with his hands up.

  Li Wei revealed a smile.

The subsequent events were quite simple, noting the commission number, queuing, collecting the commission, and the whole process did not take too long.

Originally, they, the five of them, were planning to go out to hunt monsters, and they didn't need to go back and prepare more. After receiving the commission, they set off immediately without wasting any time.

But things are not smooth sailing.

Less than a minute after getting into Bandit's pickup and leaving the guild, they were sandwiched in the middle of the road by two cars.

Li Wei didn't recognize the license plates of those two cars, but the knowledgeable Cai Yuhong beside him did.

"This license plate should belong to someone from Black Crow Town."

Black Crow Town, a settlement belonging to the Kingdom of Westham, is about 140 kilometers away from Westham City and is almost the most remote settlement of Westham Kingdom.

Without even considering, it is a place with a very harsh environment.

The appearance of these two vehicles quite matched what Levi had imagined. Both rugged off-road vehicles, though their configurations were definitely not as high as the one that Judy used to own, which Levi had driven before. The pockmarked external armor and some indelible dark red bloodstains on the vehicles all proved that these two vehicles had definitely seen a lot of combat.

"Be careful," Levi said and then continued: "Wells, come with me to check it out, and the three of you be ready to support at any time."

"Hmph, really think of himself as the leader now!" Wells complained verbally, but still obediently followed Levi and got out of the car together.

Two people each got off from the car on the opposite side and the car behind them.

The moment Levi saw these four guys, he didn't like the smell on them very much. This smell seemed somewhat familiar to him, not like ordinary demon hunters, but more like a bunch of outlaws.

Although they don't appear to be too fierce, the temperament they reveal in their actions makes people feel quite uncomfortable.

The leader is a very capable-looking long-haired man, who resembles Latino people from a previous life, and his small mustache gives off a very Mexican gang vibe.

He approached with a smirk on his lips and offered Li Wei a cigarette.

Li Wei waved his hand and said, "I don't smoke, thank you."

Cigarettes in this era can be considered the cheapest luxury goods—these two words are not contradictory. They are called luxury items because most people can't afford to buy them, yet they are cheap because quite a lot of people do smoke.

The man put away his cigarette and introduced himself, "I'm Alvis, a demon hunter from Black Crow Town. I happen to be handling some business in Metropolis recently and heard there was a good opportunity here, so I came to take a look."

"Just get to the point," Li Wei didn't want to beat around the bush with him, "What do you want by blocking our way?"

"Wanna be friends," Alves said, "More friends mean more ways, right?"

Li Wei chuckled and said, "Alright then, we'll take our leave as friends."

"Hey! Wait a minute." Alves' smile, which had always been on his face, became even more brilliant and fake: "Just now, my brother saw you took a mission to Jingkong Mantening Center Block B. We had our eyes on this mission first, but when we were queuing up to take the mission, my brother was cut in line and got left behind."

  "What are you implying?"

"Return the mission that belongs to us."

Before Li Wei could say anything, Wales next to him sneered and said, "So they're just wild dogs here to steal food."

Wales' words were quite provocative, and this time, Li Wei, who was standing beside, did not stop him.

What Wales said is also what Li Wei wanted to say.

Alves heard himself being described as a "wild dog," and his smile didn't fade at all, but his eyes carried a hint of danger. He said, "Young man, watch your mouth."

Wells did not show any weakness, and he even took two steps forward, standing in front of Alves. His height over one meter and nine, created a very strong sense of oppression.

Looking down at Alves in this way, he said contemptuously: "Then should you take care of your brain more? The entrustment voucher is in our hands, how did it become an entrustment that belongs to you when it comes out of your mouth?"

Alves could no longer maintain the smile on his face.

In another car, a big black man with bright red lips sneered: "Alves, I didn't expect that you, this smiling face...smiling tiger, would also have a time when you are speechless when others talk."

Alves glanced back coldly, and the big black man didn't care at all.

He carried a huge spiked club on his back, dressed in a gray battle suit made of unknown animal skin and metal, looking somewhat dirty, but very wild.

"It's me Muki here, hey, you two little morons up front..." he said, swaggering towards Levi and Willis and arrogantly said, "Show me the commission certificate in your hand, I don't want to make a big deal out of this."

"Stupid black guy, what if I say no to you, what are you going to do about it?" Willis didn't back down at all and retorted directly.

The corners of Muki's lips twitched. He walked step by step towards Willis, who also looked at him fearlessly, making the situation very tense. A direct conflict was on the verge of breaking out.
