Chapter 23 - Chapter 23- Class-B Mission

The level of danger in the wilderness is truly tremendous. Individuals who have truly completed extreme trials and are forced by necessity would not go to the wilderness alone; even if they must, they would need to form a reliable team. In particularly hazardous places, even the strong who have broken through the gene locks and embarked on the path of evolution would not dare to take risks easily.

If the escort mission for Yascha truly requires going to Wharf Town, then Li Wei would need to think it over carefully. Unless there is a substantial reward and a sufficiently reliable team, Li Wei might consider it; otherwise, he would never accept the mission, even if it killed him.

Fortunately, it's not, which made Li Wei feel relieved, but he still needed to clarify the specifics of the mission.

"If not Wharf Town, then where to?"

"Go to the four-leaf clover branch."

"The hunter branch in the four-leaf clover community of the upper district?"

"Yes. Judith will also be following along; this mission requires both of you to complete it together."

"Ah?" Leo was taken aback for a moment, asking, "Judith too? You're not mistaken, are you?"

Judith is a master who only needs one step to materialize the element and has completed the development of a seven-tiered chain. With such a figure leading the way, what can I do by following them? Fetch tea and water and do some miscellaneous work?

"That's right, fetch tea and water and do some miscellaneous work," Irene said with a straight face and her chest protruding, "Judith is my good friend and originally is a senior hunter of the Clover Branch. This time she came to see me and happened to run into this issue with Yahsa. Anyway, she is also going back, so she might as well take Yahsa with her."

Leo narrowed his eyes and began to think.

Erin spoke with ease, but it couldn't mask one truth: a high-level demon hunter like Judith coming to serve as Yasha's guardian.

It was not as simple as Erin made it sound. Friendship aside, as Erin said, this was a proper commission.

How much remuneration does a high-level demon hunter charge for a commission? A hundred amethysts is the starting price, right?

This is a big sum of money, equivalent to the price of a hundred C-grade gene fluids. It couldn't be waived just because of a detour, or because of a deep friendship.

If Judith has to personally take charge, then the level of this commission must be at least B-grade, or even A-grade.

For a commission of this level, Lev's role is indeed limited to doing odd jobs.

Eileen saw what Li Wei was thinking, and she said with satisfaction, "It seems your brain hasn't rusted yet, thinking enough. That's right, this is a Class B commission, and I can also tell you that the identity of the little girl, Yasha, is extraordinary. If it weren't for the fact that I was... it's not very convenient, I would take action myself."

Li Wei said: "Hehe, a Class B commission, even if it's doing errands, the danger is not small, right? I'm curious, who is Yasha exactly? Has the trouble on her really reached the point of needing high-level demon hunters to escort?"

He did have some doubts. He guessed that Yasha's identity was not an ordinary person, especially since the little girl also had special talents and abilities.

But if it was really a big shot, how come only a small gang house was dealing with the matter before? How could someone with an extraordinary identity like her be captured all alone? Even if Konstoff is capable, he is still far from the level of a high-ranking Demon Hunter.

Erin pondered for a moment, then said, "I cannot disclose娅莎's identity, but her ancestors have a special relationship with the Hunters' Guild. Anyway, all you need to know is that we must help her."

After finishing her words, Erin continued, "Don't think too much either. After all, there's Judith here. She will bear the brunt of any big trouble, and you just need to help with a few small fry. Moreover, it's possible that everything might go smoothly, nothing happens at all, and you just earn B-level mission experience and bonus without lifting a finger."

Upon hearing this, Li Wei is somewhat tempted. As Ellie said, there's a high-level demon hunter named Judith, and they don't have to leave the city, just go to the upper district. What could possibly go wrong?

But he still doesn't plan to agree so hastily.

He said, "Let me think about it. When do we leave?"

  "In three days."

"Alright, I'll give you an answer by the day after tomorrow night at the latest. For now, help me appraise these items."

Saying that, Li Wei took out two items: a small cloth bag filled with the fangs of a blood slave and a vampire, and a pair of folded vampire bat wings.

Erin casually took them and tossed out a D-level genetic fluid.

"That's it, just worth a genetic fluid?"

"That's enough already," Erin said, "If you could find someone to craft some special magical equipment out of these fangs and bat wings, then it might be worth a bit more. However, as raw materials, they're worth a bottle of D-level gene liquid, take it or leave it."

"Yes, yes, yes." What else could Li Wei say? If possible, he also wanted to use these materials to craft some equipment, such as making a better dagger or something. But the problem is, the Number 17 district this place is so desolate that there's not even a skilled craftsman to be found.

Forget it, exchanging for a bottle of Evolution Liquid is more or less acceptable.

After completing the transaction with Ellie, Li Wei also chose a D-level mission with a rich reward.

  ...

Two days later, he returned to his residence after completing the mission and receiving two bottles of gene liquid.

A bottle of gene liquid downed, Li Wei once again felt life energy filling him.

He has already decided what to do with this bottle of gene liquid: unlocking a page in the book once more.

However, this time there was an issue.

Upon realizing that all the vitality from an entire bottle of gene liquid had been absorbed by the Book of All Laws, the fifth page still failed to fully manifest.

To continue to display the page, the Book of All Laws began to draw upon his own vitality.

Li Wei decisively terminated this process. His own vitality being exploited would harm his foundation, and unless absolutely necessary, he would never do it again.

Nevertheless, the problem still needed to be resolved.

He pondered for a moment and guessed the reason - the unsealing of the Book of All Laws required more vitality, a bottle of D-grade gene liquid was no longer sufficient.

This conclusion was quite easily drawn. When he unsealed the third page, he temporarily only needed a bottle of D-grade gene liquid; unsealing the fourth page and gaining the devil's left hand required a whole vampire's heart, equivalent to a bottle of C-grade gene liquid. And now, as he attempts to unseal the fifth page, a bottle of D-grade gene liquid is certainly insufficient.

He sensed that after consuming the bottle of gene liquid, it seemed that only a quarter to a fifth of the fifth page had been unlocked.

The situation was quite unfavorable, which meant that even if Li Wei invested all the gene liquids he had on hand at the moment, he would not be able to unlock the fifth page.
