Ikki had a hidden motive for attacking Enies Lobby: he wanted to beat up Spandam. Before Momonosuke and the Kozuki family showed up, Ikki considered Spandam and his father to be the absolute worst. They were incompetent fools who seemed to fail at everything they did.
"Alright, I'm going to find the Golden Lion and the others," Ikki said. "They're going to be the main event of this whole plan!"
He headed toward the shipyard, unaware that soon after he left, CP9 agents would make contact with Robin.
Ark Proverbs' Transformation
As planned, Robin escaped with the CP9 agents. Meanwhile, back at the ship, Sanji and Chopper were looking all over for her, but there was no sign of her.
Ikki arrived alone at the shipyard and was shocked to see Enel, shirtless, carrying heavy logs. "Wow, this guy actually learned how to work!" he said to himself.
The Golden Lion floated down to meet him. "Ikki, you're here!"
"Golden Lion, how did you manage to get Enel to behave?" Ikki asked, amazed.
"One big beating every three days, a small one every day," the Golden Lion sighed. "Anyone will fall in line with that kind of treatment."
"He's that cruel?" Ikki looked over at Bullet, who was acting as an overseer, watching Enel work.
Enel, meanwhile, was praying for Gildarts to return soon. He considered the other man gentle and kind compared to Bullet. Ikki felt a little sympathy for him before turning back to the Golden Lion.
"How's the transformation of the Ark Proverbs coming along?" Ikki asked with a smile.
"It's pretty much done," the Golden Lion said, leading Ikki to the ship.
The Ark Proverbs was a completely new ship. Its old, ugly design was gone, replaced by a much more open and sleek vessel. The main cabin had three floors.
The top floor was a restaurant, the middle was a bar, and the bottom floor was a living space for the crew. They even built a large, customized room for Bullet.
After touring the ship, Ikki said, "Now this is what a ship should look like!"
"I'll even build two small islands to escort it," the Golden Lion said, grinning.
Ikki was speechless. The Golden Lion's ideas were always absurd, but they worked. "Alright, call everyone. We have to talk."
The Golden Lion's grin widened. "The last time, we took over Impel Down. This time, are we going to attack Enies Lobby?"
"What? You sound scared," Ikki said, smiling.
"Scared? I don't know the meaning of the word. I'm just looking forward to getting back at them for the time they put me on trial there!" He called over Enel, Bullet, and the others, including Crocodile and Buggy, who had been drinking in town.
"Golden Lion, why did you call us?" Bullet growled. "If you don't have a good reason, I'm going to flatten you!"
"Haha, don't you love to fight?" the Golden Lion said. "You're going to get a big one."
Bullet's eyes lit up.
Everyone walked into the temporary meeting hall.
"Alright, everyone," the Golden Lion announced. "We're here to talk about attacking Enies Lobby!"
Buggy immediately freaked out, but before he could even scream, Bullet silenced him with a stare.
Bullet turned to Ikki and grinned. "Not a bad idea at all."
"Conquering Enies Lobby? That sounds fun," Crocodile added. He had also been tried at Enies Lobby and knew how pointless the trials were. There was no justice there; once you were captured, it was a done deal.
The others looked at Ace and Enel.
Enel shrugged. "I don't really know what Enies Lobby is, but if we're attacking something, I'm in."
Ace slammed his hand on the table. "In that case, let's go now!"
"Not yet," Ikki said. "We have to wait until the Straw Hats make their move." He then laid out his plan and explained how they would all need to cooperate.
A New Shipwright Appears
Later that night, CP9's Bruno infiltrated Iceberg's home with Nico Robin. As part of their cover story, he shot and wounded Iceberg.
The news quickly spread through Galley-La Company that the Straw Hats were responsible, and the shipwrights were furious. They grabbed their tools and went to find the Straw Hats to get justice.
Meanwhile, back at the ship, the Straw Hats were still wondering where Robin had gone. Ikki was the only one who knew she had infiltrated CP9, but he didn't say anything and just went along with their panicked search.
Suddenly, music started playing outside the ship. Everyone looked out to see Franky and his crew dancing.
"Hey, isn't that the pervert Franky?" Sanji asked, confused.
"Let's just ask him!" Luffy yelled. "Pervert! Why are you here?"
"Oh, you Straw Hat Boy! You're a riot!" Franky said, turning off the music and walking toward the Going Merry.
He stopped short when he saw Ikki, the man who had hit him with a Thousand Years of Death just hours before. However, he remembered his purpose and suppressed his anger.
"Ikki, I'm here to borrow some money. The 200 million you mentioned," Franky said.
Nami heard this and immediately went berserk, turning to beat up Ikki. He dodged, and she ended up hitting Luffy instead.
"Why'd you hit me?" Luffy asked, a large lump forming on his head.
"Because your vice-captain just lent out 200 million Berries! We can't buy a new ship without that money!" she shrieked.
Ikki stepped forward, calmly putting a hand on Nami's shoulder. "I told you, Franky is going to be our shipwright, and the ship he builds will be the best one."
"It doesn't cost 200 million to build a ship!" Nami cried.
"Nami, you're wrong," Ikki said. "200 million is just the cost of the wood. It costs even more to build the ship."
Nami's face went pale. She had finally earned a fortune and thought she was going to be a rich woman, but now it was all gone.
