Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 : The Queen of the Underworld

(Lilith's POV)

The great Lucifer Castle, the grandest structure in the Underworld, was a place of power, history, and legend. It was here that her beloved husband, the Original Lucifer, once ruled. And it was here, after his death, that she remained—the Last Queen of Lucifer, the mother of his legacy.

But the past mattered little now.

Because at the heart of this castle, seated upon a throne of darkness and luxury, was the only thing that mattered to her—Vaelith Livan Lucifer, her son.

Lilith smiled as she ran her fingers through his soft white hair. He sat comfortably on her lap, his head resting against her chest as he read from an ancient tome.

"My precious boy," she murmured, leaning down slightly to kiss the top of his head.

He hummed in acknowledgment but did not look up. Lilith chuckled. So focused, as always.

She had long since noticed how… different he was. Even as a child, he carried himself with the poise of someone who knew far too much, his crimson eyes sharp and calculating in ways no child's should be.

But that only made him more perfect.

She had lost Lucifer, but she had gained something even greater. Vaelith. The culmination of their legacy.

And she would ensure that no one ever took him from her.

A knock at the door interrupted their peaceful moment.

Lilith's eyes flickered with mild irritation. "Enter."

The doors opened, revealing Lord Lucifuge, the head of the Lucifuge Clan and one of her most loyal retainers. He entered gracefully, bowing with utmost respect.

"My Lady," he greeted before shifting his gaze to the child on her lap. "And my Lord."

Vaelith, still nestled comfortably in Lilith's embrace, glanced at the older devil. "Lord Lucifuge."

The man nodded before speaking. "I came to report that preparations for the upcoming gathering of noble houses have been completed. The heirs of Bael, Gremory, Sitri, Astaroth, and Phenex will be in attendance."

Lilith arched a brow. "A political affair, is it?"

Lucifuge smiled slightly. "More of a… social gathering. A chance for the next generation of Super Devils to become acquainted."

Lilith hummed, running a hand down Vaelith's back in slow, soothing strokes. "A gathering of children, then."

Vaelith finally closed his book, resting it on the armrest of the throne. "Do I have to go?"

Lucifuge chuckled lightly. "It would be beneficial, my Lord. These are the devils who will shape the future of the Underworld alongside you."

Lilith smirked, pressing a soft kiss to Vaelith's temple. "I suppose it would be amusing to watch my little Prince of Darkness interact with others."

Vaelith sighed but didn't protest further.

Lilith's amusement only grew. How adorable.

Later that evening, after dismissing all the servants, Lilith led Vaelith to the grand royal bath, a vast chamber of marble, gold, and obsidian, with steaming pools filled with enchanted water.

Lilith allowed herself to fully relax, her divine curves bared to the soft glow of the chamber's magical torches.

Vaelith, however, seemed unbothered. He had grown used to her presence.

She loved that.

As she gently washed his hair, she whispered, "Do you know what makes you special, my love?"

Vaelith tilted his head slightly but didn't answer.

Lilith smiled. "You are the last son of Lucifer, the heir to his power, his bloodline, and his throne."

She traced a single finger down his spine, feeling the raw dark energy within him.

"But more than that… you are mine."

Vaelith met her gaze, his crimson eyes reflecting the dark beauty of her own. He wasn't disturbed by her words—not in the slightest.

He smirked slightly. "Of course."

Lilith chuckled. He truly was perfect.

And she would never let him go.

As Lilith lay in bed later that night, Vaelith curled beside her, she thought about the other noble heirs he would soon meet.

Sirelia Gremory. The sweet yet fiercely protective girl who would one day be his bride.

Serafall Sitri. The energetic one with hidden potential.

Grayfia Lucifuge. The ever-loyal knight who had already pledged herself to him.

And the others.

Lilith's lips curled into a smirk as she traced her fingers through Vaelith's soft locks.

No matter what happened in the future…

Her son would always be at the center of it all.

And she would be there, watching over him, guiding him, loving him—as only a mother could.

Because Vaelith belonged to her.

And she would never allow anyone to take him away.
