Chapter 335: Three Evolutions
"So, are you saying Little Eevee's condition is because of this Abby Phenomenon?"
After listening to the doctor's explanation, Arthur took the initiative to ask.
The doctor nodded. "Yes, this is likely the main cause of his energy imbalance. It would be best for you to decide on his evolutionary paths as soon as possible. Once they are determined, we can help guide the out-of-control energy in his body."
Although the doctor seemed to be in a hurry, Arthur had to get a clear answer first.
"This Abby Phenomenon, will it cause any harm to his body?"
His Leafeon in his past life was already in its evolved form when they met, and he couldn't recall anyone he knew having an Eevee that could switch forms like this.
This naturally made him a little worried.
Even if multiple evolutionary forms could bring an unimaginable boost in combat power, he was still more concerned about Little Eevee's own well-being.
To this, the doctor seemed very calm.
"You don't need to worry too much about that. As long as it doesn't evolve too frequently, this phenomenon won't put a great burden on the Pokémon. In fact, modern research has already confirmed that the Abby Phenomenon isn't a special case at all. About one in ten Eevee may have this potential in their youth. It's just that most of them don't meet the minimum requirements for evolution at such a young age. By the time their physical condition and energy reserves are sufficient, they've already grown past the age, and their evolutionary state has stabilized. Therefore, they can never manifest this trait in their lifetime. But in reality, the number of Eevee with this potential is not small. It's quite common. You don't need to be overly concerned."
After explaining all this, the doctor even smiled and added a word of praise.
"But speaking of which, this is the first time I've seen an Eevee exhibit the Abby Phenomenon at such a young age! The way you've raised this Eevee is astonishing. He's not even two years old, is he? I estimate he'll be able to maintain multiple evolutionary forms for at least another three to four years. You'll have plenty of time to choose a stable evolutionary path for him after that. You truly are a remarkable trainer."
Hearing the doctor's praise, Arthur felt a bit sheepish.
To be honest, he hadn't really done anything special in raising Little Eevee. Most of the time, he had just let it be.
Perhaps this was the so-called "go-with-the-flow" method of raising?
But hearing that this phenomenon wouldn't harm Little Eevee, Arthur was relieved.
The Abby Phenomenon only manifests when an Eevee is young. It's essentially an instability in its evolutionary form that will naturally disappear after it reaches a certain age.
However, most Eevee don't have the ability to meet multiple evolution conditions before the age of five or six. Even if they have the potential, they can't express it, which is why actual cases are so rare.
This could be called a genius's privilege, unique to the Eevee species!
A privilege that only the most talented young Eevee can enjoy!
And Arthur's Little Eevee was, as it happened, a genius among geniuses!
He was only a little over a year old!
This meant that for at least the next three years, he could freely switch between up to three evolutionary forms, which vastly expanded his tactical possibilities!
Ivy glanced at Arthur with a hint of envy. Although she tried her best to control it, a sour note still crept into her tone.
"Well then, congratulations."
Damn it, she's so envious!
Ivy's inner self was currently chewing on its own hands with jealousy, but her face still had to maintain a smile.
Arthur could only respond with a reserved smile of his own.
He then turned to the Little Eevee on the small sickbed and asked kindly, "Which forms do you want to evolve into?"
He had already relayed the doctor's words to the little guy through their mental link.
Actually, he didn't even have to guess. He knew one of the forms would definitely be Glaceon.
Arthur was already planning to ask Ivy to lend him some more money to buy an Ice Stone. But the next moment, the Little Eevee on the bed, upon hearing that it could choose its own forms, immediately did a carp-like leap and jumped to its feet.
And then, without needing Arthur to take out a loan, it let out a long "Awooo" and began to glow on its own!
Self-reliant, no external force needed.
You could see just how eager it was.
In reality, the methods of evolution are not singular. When its own energy reserves are sufficient, an Eevee can evolve into a Glaceon even without an Ice Stone.
Sure enough, a second later, when the white light faded, Little Eevee had completely transformed into a light blue, snowy fox.
It had a tuft of darker, exceptionally thick fur on its forehead, with two ribbon-like braids hanging down from the edges, making it look like it was wearing a winter hat with tassels.
Glaceon. It had evolved with ease.
It was precisely because it had already met the evolution conditions that the energy imbalance of the Abby Phenomenon had appeared.
Glaceon then threw back its head and let out a long cry. A wave of cold air erupted around it, sending a chill through the room.
It used this to expel a large amount of its Ice-type energy, and then, its body began to glow again.
As the light flashed, the Little Eevee, having expelled its Ice-type energy, miraculously reverted to its initial form, once again becoming a small, brown fox.
The Abby Phenomenon was truly magical.
Little Eevee then tilted its head in thought, couldn't help but glance at the Vulpix by the bedside, and then its eyes lit up. Its body began to glow with a white light once again.
It had just used the Fairy-type move Baby-Doll Eyes. And so, this time, it evolved into—Sylveon.
The Fairy-type Sylveon is primarily white, with pink on its head, ears, tail, and paws. It has a bow on its neck and left ear, and is surrounded by ribbons similar to Suicune's, giving it an ethereal appearance.
Beside it, Ivy's Vulpix let out a happy cry.
After Vulpix evolves, its type is Ice/Fairy.
The first two evolutionary forms Little Eevee had chosen were a blatant, undisguised declaration of his intentions.
But after reverting to its Eevee form for the second time, it became a bit conflicted and confused.
It had chosen the first two forms almost without thinking after learning about its condition. But it still had one more choice. It suddenly didn't know what to choose for the last one.
"Vee vee."
It looked at Arthur and let out a soft cry.
Arthur ruffled the fur on its head with a fond exasperation and said with a laugh:
"You chose two forms without saying a word, and now you finally remember to ask me?"
If this were the mainstream style of the current professional circuit, when would a Pokémon ever get to decide its own evolutionary form?
But Arthur just ruffled Little Eevee's head. His teasing was far greater than any reprimand.
Just as with Old Flame's daughter, Arthur had always respected the wishes of his Pokémon.
But since Little Eevee had asked him, he didn't mind helping his little guy make a decision.
"What do you think of the Grass type?"
The moment he asked this, Specter became agitated. Arthur, with lightning-fast reflexes, immediately took out his Poké Ball and recalled the restless old ghost.
He didn't want to scare Little Eevee.
Although his old Leafeon had caused countless troubles and disasters back in the day, to say that Arthur didn't miss it at all would be impossible.
After all, it was also one of his past Pokémon.
Little Eevee tilted its head and thought for a moment. Although it wasn't familiar with the Grass type, it didn't seem to dislike it.
So it nodded, and its body once again began to glow with a dazzling white light.
The transformation during evolution only takes a single second, but for some reason, in Arthur's eyes, that one second suddenly seemed to stretch into two hundred years…
A second later, when the white light faded and a green figure appeared, Arthur's eyes instantly grew moist.
"It looks just like him…"
