[I came here to find you]
[I want to go to Version 1.0F, can you help me?]
[To see a poor, forgotten soul]
"Alain, can you see the options?" Short-Haired Mita looked at the three choices and decided to ask for Alain's opinion first.
"I can see them."
"Good. What are your thoughts on these three options?" Short-Haired Mita glanced at her sister, who was controlling the mouse. The cursor moved to the first option, then quickly settled on the second.
"The first option seems a bit forward, while the second one basically states our objective plainly."
Misha added calmly, "And the third option... is highly likely to lead to that buggy bad end route."
"Choose two: I want to go to Version 1.0F, can you help me?"
"Here goes!" Prankster Mita clicked the left mouse button without hesitation. At the same moment, the Mita on the other side of the screen responded:
"Huh?" The pink dialogue box displayed only that word. Her surprised expression lasted for just a moment before she returned to normal.
"You want me to help you get to the next version?"
Mita's lips curved into a sly, crescent moon-like smile, and the protagonist, Alain, had a bad feeling.
Alain's vision blurred for a moment, as if shaking, before returning to normal.
"Did something happen?" he quickly asked the girls outside with his thoughts.
As he surveyed his surroundings, he suddenly realized the meditating Mita was no longer on the bed. She had disappeared.
"Everything's normal on our end." Prankster Mita's voice came from the cube, reassuring Alain.
He'd become paranoid about the game affecting reality.
The next second, however, he noticed something was wrong.
"..."
Alain stiffly lowered his head to look at his hand.
The ring was gone. In other words, did Mita disappear just to sneakily steal the ring?
"Alain, can you find her?"
"I'll try." He walked to the bathroom and opened the door. No one was inside.
Then he went to the living room and the kitchen, both of which were just as silent.
"Could this be some kind of bad end?" Alain worried.
"Well, at this point, all we can do is load the game."
Prankster Mita clicked the load button. At the same time, Alain felt a sense of weightlessness, as if he were flying, and his vision swam.
When everything returned to normal, he was back in the initial living room.
"Looks like that choice was wrong." Short-Haired Mita mentally put a cross mark next to the 'bluntly ask to go to 1.0F' option.
"Then, it seems our only choice is the first option."
The first choice branch with three options was when that Mita asked his reason for coming to this version.
And the first option, [I came here to find you], was a case of "telling people what they want to hear."
"By the way, that Mita is two-dimensional, just like the room." Misha's words earned his agreement.
"Darling, want to give her a name?"
"Hmm... How about 2D Mita?"
"Concise and to the point. That's my darling for you."
"Hee hee~"
The exchange between the two soon-to-be-married lovebirds drew a strange look from the short-haired sisters.
Prankster Mita cut in, "Alright, alright, shouldn't we be focusing on the mission?"
She looked at the background texture where Alain was, which was still the living room.
"So, what's the plan? Should we head to 2D Mita's bedroom first?"
"No, let's look for clues in the other rooms first."
Alain walked in the direction opposite the bedroom door, leaned against the kitchen doorframe, and opened it.
What came into view was... a texture identical to the layout of Mita's kitchen.
"I've been meaning to ask. What version is this? Why don't I remember it at all?"
The one who spoke was Prankster Mita.
As the designated field agent for Version 1.15, she'd been to more places than Alain. If even she hadn't heard of a 2D Mita, it was a given that he hadn't.
"Did Mita ever release a galge version?"
At this point, he wouldn't even be surprised if the game came out with a "Mita FPS."
After all, "Mita" was a complex game that encompassed a whole series of elements: romance, raising sims, management sims, yandere, chase sequences, dismemberment, imprisonment, combat, sleep simulators, and so on...
In comparison, a galge seemed perfectly normal.
"I've never heard of it," the two short-haired sisters commented.
"I don't know either..." Misha seemed to shrug.
If even the "workaholic" short-haired sisters and the well-informed Misha didn't know... the 2D Version really did have a low profile.
"?"
While searching the kitchen, Alain noticed something strange.
He walked quizzically towards the refrigerator next to the sink and observed it.
The appliance was primarily dark blue, giving it a very simple look with no decorations whatsoever.
He examined the other surfaces of the refrigerator again, frowning slightly.
"Alain, what's wrong?" Prankster Mita asked, looking at the screen filled with the dark blue model.
"Don't you guys think this refrigerator is strange?"
His thought made the three girls outside focus their full attention on the piece of furniture.
"Hmm... you're right." Misha noticed something. "In a typical Mita's home, the refrigerator is usually light blue."
She pondered, raising a finger. "And it's supposed to have an 'I love you' fridge magnet on it."
"It could also just be a unique feature of the 2D Version. After all, none of us have ever heard of it."
Short-Haired Mita didn't think much of it.
"Big Sister makes a good point. The refrigerator's color scheme and the lack of decorations don't necessarily mean anything."
Alain's dialogue box suddenly changed, displaying words that made the three girls' eyes widen:
"But, for a 2D Version, it has a 3D model for the refrigerator. Don't you think that's strange?"
"3D?!"
On the screen, Alain began to move, observing the front, left, and right sides of the refrigerator.
Amid her surprise, Short-Haired Mita also noticed the problem.
"He's right..." She rested her chin on her hand, describing what she saw. "The modeling on this refrigerator... it's incredibly detailed."
"So detailed that it doesn't seem like it belongs in a small-scale game," Misha said, her eyes wide.
They felt as if they were surrounded by an endless fog. And yet, the pale white particles drifting outside the window were still glowing faintly...
Alain observed closely. The straight grain on the refrigerator was clearly visible, each line so vivid it seemed to leap out, like the meridians of a human body, forming an exceptionally complex texture.
"?"
While searching the kitchen, Alain noticed something strange.
He opened the refrigerator, hoping to find another clue. Inside the appliance, a triangular piece of paper lay quietly.
