Sangonomiya Kokomi, the leader of Watatsumi Island, also recognized the flaws of these high-power cannons.
Consequently, she dispatched troops to bypass the cannons' effective range, crushing the Mikage Furnace's garrison with a blitzkrieg tactic.

Faced with these tactics, the Shogunate was forced to leave only a token force to protect the Kamuijima Cannons while focusing their full efforts on the Mikage Furnace.
They were not worried about the cannons being captured, as the Sangonomiya side lacked the specific conditions required to operate these weapons of mass destruction.
Later, the Mikage Furnace exploded, and the war came to a temporary halt due to the Tatarigami energy.
During this time, the Kamuijima Cannons were maintained and repaired.
Yet, once restored, the cannons did not bombard the Sangonomiya resistance, but rather the commoners who still held faith in the Raiden Shogun.
Bai Luo gripped the pommel of his Reverse-Blade Sword, resting the blade against his forearm.
With a standard katana, this stance would surely result in injury.
However, since the Reverse-Blade Sword's edge was blunt, there was no risk of accidental self-harm; instead, it added a touch of flair to his demeanor.
Moments ago, after that death-sworn soldier released a signal, beacon fires lit up around Tatarasuna.
He didn't know exactly what it meant, but he knew it certainly wasn't anything good.
Right now, however, the priority was repairing the hole in the ship's hull; otherwise... everyone on board would be buried at sea.
As Bai Luo predicted, after he explained the situation, the refugees first sent their regards to the entire families of the Shogunate army, then expressed a desire to have an "in-depth exchange" with the mothers of those who scuttled the ship.
When they learned Bai Luo needed people to patch the leak, several volunteered immediately.
They weren't worried about a lack of wood; dismantling the bed boards would suffice—it didn't matter where they slept anyway.
Just as the whole ship busied itself, an earth-shattering roar echoed from the shore.
"Her Excellency, the Ogosho, is furious!"
Several refugees immediately dropped to the ground, huddled together, too terrified to move.
But Bai Luo knew better than anyone what that actually was.
He admitted that, as a member of the Fatui, he often engaged in inhuman acts.
Yet, this Shogunate army made him, a dignified Fatui Harbinger, feel ashamed of his own lack of cruelty by comparison.
Bombarding a ferry full of refugees with *that* thing?
Bai Luo couldn't bring himself to do such a thing.
Let alone him, even The Doctor—the most inhumane of the Fatui—wouldn't do this.
He would never bear to waste so many "experimental subjects."

The first blast of the lightning cannon missed the ship. Perhaps due to disuse, the Kamuijima Cannon's aim was off, striking the water beside the vessel.
However, such deviation would be quickly corrected; the next shot would hit the target.
Even though it missed, the commotion terrified the refugees on board. Aside from a very few bold individuals, everyone else lay shivering on the deck, allowing the seawater splashed up by the lightning cannon to drench them.
Utilizing the power of the One-Winged Angel, Bai Luo leaped layer by layer up to the ferry's lookout tower.
Looking toward the Kamuijima Cannon on the island, he felt as if a current of electricity was spreading from the top of his head through his entire body.
The cannon's muzzle had already gathered a blinding Electro light; compressed to its limit, the beam was now firing right at them.
Bai Luo stepped forward with his right foot, using the momentum to leap into the air like a swallow.
"Dragon Hammer Flash!"
Seizing the moment, Bai Luo brought his Reverse-Blade Sword down viciously upon the lightning-infused projectile.
*BOOM—*
The shell was slashed directly into the sea by Bai Luo, stirring up a massive wave.
Bai Luo landed back on the ship, his expression grave as he looked toward the shore.
The power of the Kamuijima Cannon was stronger than he had imagined. If he hadn't used a System-provided skill just now and had recklessly used his so-called "auto-attack," he feared both he and his sword would have been blasted into the hull.
"Does anyone know how to sail? Get us out of here!"
After steadying himself, Bai Luo immediately ordered the ship to move.
He could cut down the cannon shells, but that wasn't a long-term solution. If he remembered correctly...
There was more than one Kamuijima Cannon nearby.
"We... we can't. Everything needed to run the ship has been destroyed by them. Even the small lifeboats are gone."
In fact, without waiting for Bai Luo's order, people had already tried to pilot the ferry.
But the Shogunate army was more cunning than they had anticipated; everything required to make the ship operational had been destroyed.
Unless...
Several refugees who were strong swimmers had quietly crept to the edge, intending to jump ship to survive.
By the time Bai Luo noticed, it was too late.
"Ahhh—"
The refugees who jumped into the water let out bloodcurdling screams before falling silent.
It turned out the Kamuijima Cannon didn't use conventional shells, but special projectiles driven by Electro energy. Once they hit the water... the Electro element rampaged through the sea. Anyone entering the water would have their life thoroughly extinguished by the current. This used to be the nightmare of the Resistance; unexpectedly, these refugees were now experiencing it.
Seeing this, thoughts of retreat began to rise in Bai Luo's mind.
On land, he would be fine, but on the vast ocean... his options were limited.
If he switched to his "Black" form, he could use his quantum capabilities to leave.
However...
He looked up at Tatyana, who was still on the upper deck.
If he left, Tatyana would undoubtedly die on this ship. Even if she could manipulate water, that didn't mean she could walk on it.
Furthermore, the seawater would be blanketed in electricity; even if she could survive on the surface, she wouldn't escape the electrocution.
He had gone to great lengths to get this subordinate back; he hadn't even warmed the bed with her yet—how could he just let her die here?
With this in mind, Bai Luo decided to change his approach.
"You aren't the only ones with long-range weapons!"
He shook his arm lightly, and a fiery red ring appeared at his wrist.
He extended his hand, aiming at the Kamuijima Cannon which was already charging its next attack.
*BOOM—*
The Fire of the Earth Core erupted, shooting searing magma into the sky. While it didn't dislodge the Kamuijima Cannon, it blasted the operating Shogunate soldiers into the air.
And the soldiers blown away included the Vision wielder responsible for stabilizing the violent Electro element within the weapon.
Electro is inherently unruly; it requires someone to stabilize it when loaded into the barrel.
Losing that stabilization... the Kamuijima Cannon detonated.
