Darla didn't even flinch. "She's not available for people like you."
Alex tilted his head, feigning sympathy. "Just because my sister spoke a few good words about you doesn't mean she sees you as her equal, Kingsley."
Logan's gaze narrowed.
Alex continued, "She does this kind of charity every now and then. Don't flatter yourself."
That was it.
Logan's voice dropped, low and sharp like a blade. "Watch your mouth, Adams. You have no idea what I'm capable of."
Then he turned on his heel and walked away, barely holding back the storm brewing in his chest.
Jean wanted to play? Fine.
He'd play.
But this time, he would be the one pulling the strings.
As he reached his family, he didn't say much… just, "I'm leaving. I've had enough of this circus."
Martha and Jared exchanged a quick glance. They could tell something was off, but they didn't push him. Instead, they followed him silently, sensing the tension but knowing Logan would talk when he was ready.
He didn't look back.
