Chapter 38 - A Night Out Pt. 1

"Knock knock!"

"Who the fuck are you?"

"You're supposed to ask who's there." I pouted.

"Guys! Some kid entered the dockyard!"

I sighed. "I guess I'll answer anyways."

"Cleave."

And then there was chaos.

------------------------------------------------------------

"Wait wait, we can talk about this...." The guy who refused my knock knock joke cried out as he crawled back from me.

"What is there to talk about?" I looked at my fingernails. "You guys are bringing in weapons, aren't you? Why should I not kill you?"

"I-I have this trading card... it's worth a lot..."

"Oh?" I locked in. "What card?"

"It-it's Homuzard, a kid like you should know of it right? It's PSA 10 too!"

"Homu... zard?" My eye twitched.

"Yea! I can-"

"Cursed Technique: Blue."

With a blue pulse, the man was instantly flung in to the ocean by me.

I sneered. "I'm a Homumon fan. Not a Pokehomu fan."

-------------------------------------

As I walked down one of the warehouses, I let out a sigh. Kiana had gone with Bronya to beat up some of the guards outside.

Due to that, most of the people inside had gone to stop them instead of meeting me.

Why did they do that? Were they so scared just because of me using Cleave a few times?

Kiana and Bronya weren't outside my view though as I could see them still fighting through some of the warehouse windows.

Thus, it wouldn't be a problem to keep them safe if push came to shove.

I looked around, seeing a crap ton of Honkai devices laying around. But those things weren't what caught my eye.

Instead, it was the thing at the very end of the warehouse...

It looked like a bomb, but I felt a lot of Honkai energy inside of it.

That was trouble.

I went forwards, wanting to study it. But just as I was about to reach it, my instincts flared at me.

I jumped back instinctively just as a massive invisible force crushed the area where I once stood.

Letting out a click of my tongue, I looked around instantly for the attacker.

Invisible attacks were something I couldn't block with Infinity if I couldn't add it onto the blacklist.

"What's a rat like you doing here?"

Warily, I looked towards the source of the voice, to be met. He had indigo short hair pushed to the back and blue eyes. He wore a dark blue hooded coat with a black and blue shirt inside.

Was he the one who did this?

And it was a guy...

"You should answer when you're spoken to." The man asked. "A brat like you really lacks manners."

"I'm just surprised." I bit back as I stood up straight. "Didn't expect to see another guy with powers around here."

"You compare yourself to me, the First Herrscher?"

"Herscherr?"

He really believes that...

If that was true, that would be trouble.

But in that case, why was a Herrscherr here and not playing Doomslayer: Human Edition?

"What are you doing here? Doesn't a mighty Herrscher like you have better things to do than to twiddle your thumbs at a dockyard?"

"I was requested to come here by one of my underlings. Couldn't do her own job well so she had to beg me for some help." The Herrscher? laughed.

Ah... when I asked for Bronya to invite someone to talk to me that time, it was probably this guy who was sent.

But since she didn't say anything, it meant that Cocolia kept it hidden from Bronya that this guy had arrived.

"Then surely a Herrscher like you has a name right?" I pushed on.

"You may refer to me as Welt, Sovereign of Anti-Entropy."

I blinked. "Uh wow. You're really forthcoming with your information."

"What does it matter?" The man now known as Welt boasted. "Do you think that I'd lose?"

"Do you?"

"Hmph. Of course not. I'd win."

A small snicker sneaked out. "Thanks for that."

"What?"

"Nothing. Carry on."

Welt frowned. "I feel like you're being patronising, brat."

"Is it that obvious?"

I flashed forwards throwing a punch but Welt raised a hand to block.

When my fist was about to make contact, I felt a small force preventing me from making contact.

A barrier?

Is it the same type as Infinity?

A cocky grin appeared on Welt's face as a blue crackle of energy appeared around his body. He pointed a finger at me, which made me quickly retreat.

The walls of the warehouse fractured behind me causing a large cloud of dust to form.

"Hmph. Did you feel that? My immense power..."

"Buddy. I'm not here to listen to you constantly glaze yourself."

I moved forwards again through the smoke, sending quick kicks between his thigh and ribs. The lowered visibility caused Welt to react half a second slower as his eyes widened. He shielded himself with his arms from my blows, but he let out a grimace as he did so.

No barrier this time?

Another two Blue enhanced blows to his face came next, but this time, a light blue barrier blocked them again.

So it's based on his reaction speed.

*Clunk*

The wheel turned.

A new strategy emerged in my mind.

I kicked towards his head again, causing Welt to laugh. "It's all in vain! You won't succeed!"

A smile of my own appeared on my face however, as I faked him out.

I kicked over his head and used the momentum and his distracted attention to slam my other foot in his stomach.

"Graahhh." Welt spat out saliva as he was sent flying in a > shape.

He quickly caught himself with his powers through a crackle of dark energy, but my next flurry of blows were ready.

Fake, fake, real attack.

Real attack, fake, real attack.

Welt struggled immensely, proven by the panicked expression on his face as he was hit by a multitude of blows. Bruises began forming around his skin, along with some blood as he took punches from me.

Though I could probably kill him here, I still had a use for him.

Killing him too fast would be a waste of a chance to adapt.

He tried to raise his hand but I just grabbed it and used it as a lever to drag him to the ground.

Pushing his hand behind his back, I pushed a hand on him.

"Clea-"

Epitaph suddenly screamed a future to me.

I hurriedly let go of him and clasped my hands. But before the teleportation could go through, Welt had already screamed.

"ONE HUNDRED TIMES GRAVITY!"

A heavy force crashed into my body as I felt my vision blur. Thankfully for me, Blue's teleportation had activated at this time, sending me to the other end of the warehouse.

Landing there, I wiped off a cold sweat as I stood back up straight. That was actually pretty dangerous.

Infinity wasn't an option there since I didn't know what the attack was since it was invisible.

If Epitaph hadn't shown me that future, nor had I reacted in time, I'm pretty sure that I'd be a fish burger or something at this time.

"Hey, that was pretty close." I called out with a laugh. "That almost killed me!"

"Pretty close?" Welt gasped as he got back up to his feet. There were blue glowing markings forming on his face at this time. An unnerving smile appeared on his face. "You should look at yourself in the mirror first."

Hearing that, I frowned.

What did he mean by that?

It didn't matter. He was probably buying time. After I tested that his power was actually gravity, that specific ability which I assumed was his trump card wouldn't be a threat anymore. It would be added to Infinity's blacklist.

Then, I can take my time adapting to his abilities.

However, as I took a step forwards, something strange happened.

The world... was spinning?

My feet gave out slightly beneath me as I stumbled onto a nearby table as I tasted iron in my mouth.

Spitting it out, I was met with a puddle of red.

My... blood?

With bloodshot eyes, I looked back up at Welt who was smiling from ear to ear.

"You were hit by my attack!"

(A/N: How was the chapter? Please give powerstones and comment!

Btw, how do you guys like how adaptation works right now? I'm trying to make it work like Mahoraga anime style where he makes up strategies changes his physiology(haven't shown this yet), and abilities on the fly during adaptation.)
