Chapter 71 - The Girl Made of Glass

The chamber buckled, bending like a heat wave. The twelve mirrors had dissolved—but something far worse had emerged in their place.

She stood barefoot on the broken floor, skin as pale as porcelain, veins etched with shimmering cracks. Her eyes were silver… not reflecting light, but refracting it, scattering it like a prism.

And her hair, impossibly long, clinked when she moved—made not of strands, but thin slivers of glass.

The Spiral had no face.

But she did.

> "Who… are you?" Renji asked.

She tilted her head, smiling with glassy lips.

> "I am what was left behind."

---

A Being Born from Fractures

Kuro stepped protectively in front of Aoi, shielding her, still weak from the spiral-seal.

The girl continued:

> "You thought the Spiral was a curse.

A trap.

But it was also a cocoon."

> "And when it shattered…"

"I hatched."

She raised one hand.

The room shuddered again. Shards of broken reflections floated into the air like feathers, swirling around her like a storm of memory. In their surfaces, dozens—no, hundreds—of trapped reflections screamed silently, pressed against invisible glass.

Aoi's breath caught.

> "These are the ones who were forgotten," she whispered.

"People the Spiral couldn't loop. The ones lost in between resets."

Kuro's fists clenched. "You're feeding on them."

The girl nodded.

> "I am their anchor. Their grave. Their queen."

---

Her Name Is Shiori

Renji narrowed his eyes. "You weren't part of the original Spiral. You didn't exist until it broke."

She smiled again, and for the first time, her reflection shimmered in every surface at once.

> "That's where you're wrong, Renji Kurosawa."

"I was the first."

And then her form shifted.

For a brief moment, they saw Emiko.

Then a dozen other Spiral victims.

Then Hinako—Aoi's sister.

Then back to glass.

> "I am what was forgotten. The girl who never made it into the loops.

The Spiral couldn't remember me.

So I remembered myself."

> "I named myself Shiori."

---

The Collapse Begins

Shiori raised her arms.

The entire Mirror World fractured. Not violently—but softly, like reality was giving up. Walls became reflective, time slowed down. Their movements lagged.

> "You sealed the loop," she said gently. "But you never healed the wound."

> "Now the wound has grown teeth."

Aoi stood now, shaky but defiant.

> "If you're the wound—then we're the ones who'll stitch it shut."

Renji nodded, stepping beside her. "We've stopped worse. You're just a reflection. You can be broken."

Shiori's glass eyes shimmered with… sadness?

> "But if you break me…" she whispered,

"you break everything that remembers you."

---

The Spiral's Final Echo

Behind Shiori, the air rippled open into a black glass void—a chasm of silent mirrors spinning in a slow spiral, wider than space. Floating within it were thousands of trapped selves: alternate versions of Kuro, Aoi, Renji, Emiko, and others.

Some weeping. Some still. Some screaming.

A multiverse of forgotten possibilities.

Renji felt dizzy. He looked at Aoi.

She steadied him.

> "It's not real," she said.

"Not anymore."

Kuro pulled the last of Emiko's talismans from his coat.

> "Let's end this."
