Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 Righteous Action

Seeing the situation, Callie hurriedly stepped in front of Berloff Reed, her face full of anxiety as she tried to persuade him.

"Berloff, you need to leave. You can't afford to mess with Mr. Tyler."

Berloff glanced at Tyler dismissively. "Don't worry, Callie. This guy is nothing to me."

"Besides, if I leave, who will treat Teacher Tariq?"

Callie's eyes widened in shock. "What? You have a way to treat my dad?"

Berloff smiled calmly. "Callie, I've been around Silk City for a few years. While I haven't achieved much, I can still arrange for Teacher Tariq to get treated at a top hospital and cover the medical bills, even if they run into the hundreds of thousands."

"As one of Teacher Tariq's former students, I can't just stand by and watch you marry some despicable jerk because of his illness."

Berloff had heard plenty of gossip about the infamous Mr. Tyler from his classmates.

Tyler had a reputation for being a lecherous troublemaker, often harassing female classmates. As he grew older, his behavior only worsened. He frequently partied and took advantage of drunk girls, leading to several tragic incidents over the years.

As someone who had once harbored a crush on Callie, Berloff couldn't bear to see his goddess ruined by such trash.

Hearing Berloff's bold claims in front of Callie, Tyler sneered.

"Kid, you've got a big mouth!"

"With your shabby appearance, how can you afford such high medical expenses?"

"Besides, this is pancreatic cancer, the so-called king of cancers. Only the top medical experts in the country can treat it. How could a poor guy like you have the connections to get those big shots to treat Uncle Dorian?"

Elspeth, dressed to the nines, glared fiercely at Berloff Reed.

"Caitlin, don't be fooled by this pretty boy's sweet talk!"

"Right now, only Mr. Tyler has the ability to treat your dad."

"If you trust the wrong person and your dad misses the best treatment window, you'll regret it forever!"

Callie frowned, her expression conflicted as she looked at Berloff. "This... Berloff, you..."

If Berloff could confidently get her father into Silk City Hospital and was willing to cover the high medical costs unconditionally, that would be the best outcome.

However, if Berloff was just making empty promises, giving Callie and her father false hope, it would be too late for regrets.

Click, click!

At that moment, the attending doctor walked into the room and asked Callie, "So, have you contacted the top hospitals in the country?"Callie glanced at Berloff, bit her lip, and asked, "Doctor, I wanted to ask you, given my dad's current condition, which hospital in the country would be the best to send him to?"

The attending doctor, who appeared to be in his early thirties, adjusted his black-rimmed glasses and said clearly, "For pancreatic cancer, there are only two or three hospitals in the country that meet international standards."

"Among them, Union Hospital in the capital and Ruijin Hospital in Silk City are public hospitals with relatively lower treatment costs.""However, these two major hospitals are always packed with patients from all over the country. Even if you have money, it's tough to get a bed for inpatient treatment."

"If your family is well-off, I recommend the Royal Hospital in Silk City. This private hospital has a low admission threshold. As long as you have money, you can get in anytime."

"But the treatment costs are on par with international standards. Without at least a million pounds ready, you probably won't get in."

Hearing this, Tyler's face turned pale.

"What did you say? This lousy hospital

charges a million pounds for treatment? That's equivalent to tens of millions of Orchid Empire currency!"

"Man, that's daylight robbery!"

The attending doctor shrugged. "There's nothing we can do. The Royal Hospital in Silk City is a top-tier private hospital built by foreign capital. Both its medical experts and equipment are world-class."

"Moreover, as far as I know, the Royal Hospital in Silk City has the highest cancer cure rate in the country, reaching international levels."

Callie widened her eyes, mumbling, "A million pounds for treatment... This...this..."

She instinctively looked at Tyler.

Tyler sneered, "Sorry, Callie, but in my eyes, spending two or three million on you is the limit."

"Tsk, tsk, a million pounds for medical fees? That's tens of millions of Orchid Empire currency!"

"With that kind of money, I could get any woman I want."

"Forget about a Cambridge scholar; I could even date a top domestic star!"

Callie's face flushed with anger, her body trembling slightly. "You scoundrel!"Hiss...

Elspeth gasped at the exorbitant medical expenses.

Holding Callie's small hand, she gently advised, "Caitlin, don't blame Mr. Tyler."

"This money is indeed astronomical, and Mr. Tyler can't do anything about it."

"I think, instead of wasting this money, you should let your dad stay home, eat well, and enjoy his remaining days."

"When the time comes, let your dad see you marry Mr. Tyler. He can pass away in peace."

Berloff Reed was astounded by her words.Clap, clap, clap...

He couldn't help but applaud Elspeth. "Wow, your matchmaking skills are so impressive that even the best madams would be ashamed!"

Elspeth glared at him. "Shut up, you little punk!"

"I'm talking to my niece. Who do you think you are to interrupt?"

Berloff looked at her with disdain. "You still remember Callie is your niece? You're pushing your sister's child into the fire just for your own luxury?"

Elspeth's eyes blazed with anger, ready to lash out, but Callie stepped back a few paces, her face cold and her voice firm. "Auntie, stop trying to persuade me."

"Even if I have to sell myself, I won't abandon my dad and let him wait to die."

"My mom is gone, and my dad is my only family. How could I possibly leave him?"

Elspeth immediately stopped cursing Berloff Reed. "Caitlin, don't be foolish!"

"Even Mr. Tyler can't save your dad. Selling yourself won't change anything."

Berloff chuckled softly. "Who said only scum like Tyler can save people?"

"Callie, I'll take care of Teacher Tariq's illness!"

Callie's eyes lit up as she stared intently at Berloff. "Berloff, the medical bills are in the millions. Do you really have a way?"

Elspeth spat in disdain, glaring at Berloff. "This broke guy? What can he do?"

"Even Mr. Tyler, with his billions, can't come up with that kind of money. Who does he think he is?"

Tyler looked at Berloff like he was an idiot. "Kid, you're talking nonsense!"

"If I can't do it, you think you can?"

"If you can get Callie's dad treated at Silk City Royal Hospital, I'll call you dad!"Berloff laughed and pulled out his phone. "No thanks. I don't want an ungrateful son like you."
