Under Klee's relentless and furious bombardment, the Frostarm Lawachurl's icy shield was soon shattered, and it was knocked to the ground…
Though it struggled to rise, Klee's continuous firepower made such a thought nothing more than a luxury…
Tormented by Klee's attacks, the Frostarm Lawachurl let out a furious roar, summoning a group of Cryo Hilichurl Shooters, who immediately loosed their arrows toward Klee!
"Klee, watch out!"
Aether and Eula instantly dashed forward, shielding Klee from the barrage of arrows.
But this also meant Klee's sustained suppression fire was interrupted, giving the Frostarm Lawachurl the chance to stand back up.
As soon as it did, the Frostarm Lawachurl suddenly lunged toward the Frostbearing Tree, plucking one of the Frostbearing Fruits from its branches and swallowing it without hesitation!
Its face twisted, turning crimson and foul-smelling, while a dreadful aura of Eerie power surged from its body…
Eula, seeing this, spoke to Klee and Aether beside her:
"Traveler, Klee, fall back!"
"This Frostarm Lawachurl has eaten a Frostbearing Fruit corrupted by Eerie power, entering an Eerie state. This isn't something you can handle…"
She raised her greatsword, pointing it at the Frostarm Lawachurl, declaring:
"Dragonspine belongs to Mondstadt! The Frostbearing Tree and its Frostbearing Fruits are rare treasures that must be carefully protected!"
"You dared to consume such a precious Frostbearing Fruit without the permission of the Knights of Favonius…"
"For that, I'll remember this grudge!!"
Su Yuan, watching the scene, thought to himself that it seemed Eula always had to find some reason for bearing a grudge first—otherwise, perhaps the conditions for her Eerie transformation wouldn't be triggered…
But in the next moment, Eula froze—because her consciousness remained perfectly clear, with no sign of entering the Eerie state…
Aether and Su Yuan both realized what was happening and exclaimed:
"My god! We forgot—Mondstadt's Eerie transformations are tied to freedom! This time there's actually a delay before it triggers!"
The Frostarm Lawachurl, of course, had no interest in reason.
Eerie power condensed in its fists as it charged straight at Eula with a crushing blow!
The attack was so fast and wide that dodging was impossible.
Just as Eula gritted her teeth to brace herself for impact, a surge of Eerie power suddenly burst forth from her body!
Su Yuan and Aether both let out a sigh of relief—it had been a close call.
Fortunately, the delay in her Eerie transformation hadn't lasted too long, and she had just barely made it in time…
"You monster who dared to steal and eat the precious Frostbearing Fruit, and you still dare to attack me???"
Eula let out a furious roar, channeling eerie power into her greatsword, and clashed head-on with the Frostarm Lawachurl that had leapt down upon her.
A true, direct confrontation!
But how could this Lawachurl, with its incomplete external eerie transformation, possibly stand against someone who had entered a true, complete eerie transformation by following the rules?
The greatsword in Eula's hands directly shattered the Lawachurl's arms and knocked it to the ground once more!
And Eula showed no mercy—after forcing the Lawachurl to the ground, she leapt high into the air, and with her greatsword wreathed in eerie power, thrust it down straight into the Lawachurl's chest, completely ending its life!
Immediately afterward, the eerie power surrounding Eula faded, and she returned from her transformed state.
Thinking back to what had just happened, Eula couldn't help but sigh:
"That was cutting it too close… almost lost it right there…"
"As I thought, if I run into another strong foe next time, I should just trigger my eerie transformation in advance. Better that than having to deal with a delay before I can enter it…"
The Cryo hilichurl shooters, upon seeing their Frostarm Lawachurl slain, immediately fled in a panic, vanishing into the snowstorm.
But no one had any intention of chasing after them.
The priority now was to find Albedo!
"We'd better pick all the Frostbearing Fruits off this tree and destroy them," Su Yuan suggested.
"If a passerby, a beast, or a monster ate one and fell into an eerie state, that would be disastrous."
The group then worked together to pick every Frostbearing Fruit from the tree.
"Let me burn all these spoiled fruits to ashes!" Klee said eagerly, as she unleashed her Pyro power on them.
But what happened next was both unexpected and yet perfectly reasonable—
Klee's Pyro power could not burn the Frostbearing Fruits at all.
"The eerie power is immune to elemental forces, and since the Frostbearing Fruits have been tainted by eerie power, perhaps they've also gained that property…"
Su Yuan mused aloud, looking rather troubled.
"Although physical attacks can harm something infused with eerie power, if we tried destroying the fruits with brute force, wouldn't it just be like slicing them apart? That would probably cause the contamination to spread, wouldn't it?"
"Maybe I should try destroying the Frostbearing Fruits with eerie power?"
As Eula spoke, she turned toward the fruits and declared:
"You ugly Frostbearing Fruits! You look hideous, taste disgusting—both foul to see and foul to eat! I'll remember this grudge!"
But everyone waited for a while, and yet Eula showed no signs of entering her eerie state.
"Looks like my transformation only triggers when the grudge target is a living being?" Eula said helplessly.
"Eh! I just thought of something! We could dig a pit and bury these bad fruits, just like I hide my treasures, so no one can ever find them!" Klee suggested.
"I don't think that's reliable…" Aether shook his head and said, "Since there aren't too many fruits and they aren't heavy, why don't we just carry them with us? Once we return to Mondstadt, the Knights of Favonius can store them somewhere safe."
"I suppose that's our only option then." Su Yuan nodded, then packed all of the Frostbearing Fruits into his own backpack.
"Something this dangerous—it's best I carry them."
"Let's not waste any more time. We should keep moving!"
The group continued along the snow-covered path and soon arrived at Wyrmrest Valley.
Wyrmrest Valley was formed by the corpse of Durin, the evil dragon, after its death.
But to be precise—Durin had died, yet not completely.
His heart was still beating, ceaselessly.
Albedo had once said that one day, Durin would rise again.
Thus, the group decided to head toward Durin's heart first.
